  • "We had a lovely stay at the Old Chuch, property was in great condition and really comfortable."

    We had a power cut the first night and the hosts came to check on us, to bring candles and ensure we were ok. Lots of homely touches and the welcome beer, biscuits etc were very well received. Great location for exploring Yorkshire and fab running routes nearby too. Would definitely recommend and would visit again!

    A very pleasant surprise was the goodie basket that awaited us, bread, butter, jam, milk, coffee, tea, cookies (they were delicious) and some eggs and not forgetting the can of cider & beer. Cottage was immaculate and was nice to have a Smart TV.

  • "We have just returned from a new year stay a the old church."

    We cannot fault anything about it, from start to finish. Beautiful modern decor, but very homely and cosy. Lovely welcome back and decorated very tastefully for Xmas. Everything you need, lots of information from the hosts about the surrounding area and things to do. I asked about a later check out, and it was no problem, as no one staying the next day. Ian the owner came round to see us and offered us another night for a very small fee of just towards the heating etc. which was a lovely touch. Thank you for a lovely stay, we will definitely be back

    We arrived after a long journey to a beautiful , very tastefully decorated property and was welcomed with the most thoughtful welcome pack! We even had the pleasure of meeting the owners who were amazing hosts , the best we have ever experienced , a delightful , charming , friendliest couple who informed us of the places to visit and how to get there etc!, we will deffinately be keeping in touch ! The accomodation is very well maintained , everything we wanted was there , a real home from home. We visited many places during our stay and we would deffinately recommend this property to anyone who wishes to visit this cgarming part of Yorkshire.

    Tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We were left a generous welcome pack which was very much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful stay. We have already booked a return stay in July when we hope to fit in a day at one of the local racecourses.

    It has a rarely seen mezzanine floor with spiral stair, landing into an open-plan living/kitchen space. Everything about the property has been designed to provide guests with a high-level of comfort, such as motion-sensors on the bathroom lights for night-time visits! The welcome pack and information provided throughout our stay was a nice touch and very much appreciated - it is true when they say, 'it's the little things that count'! The Old Church is also in a good location whether you're heading into York for the day, or any of the coastal areas in the region.

    Comfortable bed, lovely bathrooms. Staying at a cold time of year we appreciated the flexibility of the heating. Our only minor downside would be the cold leather sofas, but that is a personal thing.

    The only thing I would have changed is the beds, putting the double on the mezzanine and the singles in the bedroom, but apart from that it was perfect.

    We loved every minute of our stay at the Old Church in Shiptonthorpe. We came to stay as we have relatives living nearby and would love to stay again. The layout of the conversation is beautiful, high ceiling and spacious. Everything is comfortable, good quality furnishings, curtains, bedding and towels. Kitchen really spacious and fresh bright and modern. Owners had left a very thoughtful welcome pack and a personal letter. Loved the mezzanine bedroom and the staircase up to it. Smart TV and brilliantly fast Wifi - I worked while staying in the property using Teams meetings and it worked very well. If you are thinking of booking this property you will not be disappointed it is beautiful.

    First impression was one of space and light in the beautiful living room / kitchen area , then we were extremely impressed by the cleanliness and comfort . Everything in the house was of the highest quality and there is off road parking and a pleasant garden to sit and enjoy the sunshine . The area is very dog friendly , with lovely walks and dog welcoming shops ,cafes and beaches .     It is in a very pretty village which is in a handy location for York, Beverley Pocklington and the beautiful Yorkshire wolds as well as being not too far from the coast. There is so much to do in the area within easy reach. I had a lovely restful stay with my two dogs, The very pretty courtyard yard was just enough for them to potter about in and for me to sit and enjoy the sun.     Very clean and fantastic open plan space. Enclosed back garden perfect for dogs. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely welcome pack on arrival. Great location, although if you have a big car can be difficult to get in and out of the drive as cars are parked on the side of the road making access a bit tricky but doable. Ensuite shower seem to leak in the corner by the sink and the flooring is coming apart and the splash back plinth to the ensuite sink is loose so the tap catches it. Only minor issues and wouldn't stop us returning as so many positive aspects to the beautiful property.

  • "A beautifully converted church with everything we needed."

    Sue and Ian were fantastic hosts, providing us with flexible sleeping arrangements and a lovely welcome basket ( including homemade jam!). The downstairs bedroom with en-suite was perfect for some members of our family, while our teenagers loved the mezzanine. The location suited us very well as we had easy access to York, Beverley, Hull and Leeds and a trip to local York air museum was enjoyed by all. We hope to visit again in the warmer months, to make full use of the patio garden. Many thanks to Sue and Ian.

  • "My partner, myself and our two beagles had a fantastic stay at The Old Church last week and found it to be very cosy, warm and comfortable."

    The chapel has been renovated to a high standard and had everything we could have needed and more. There was a lovely welcome pack from the owners on our arrival which was a nice touch. We really enjoyed the open plan aspect of the property and the inclusion of some original features like the chapel floor. The location is great for getting to surrounding villages and York and Beverley and in the village itself within walking distance was a 24hr shop and other amenities such as an Indian restaurant, bakery and garden centre. We were very pleased to find it had a delightful yard full of colourful flowers which was fully enclosed and secure for our two dogs. The village itself was very quiet and peaceful and the owners were very accommodating as they live nearby and checked in with us to ensure we were happy with everything they also provided a fantastic recommendation for a nice restaurant (The Bay Horse in Market Weighton) where we enjoyed a delicious meal out. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to come back again.

    The nearest place would be the service station for any necessities. Everything thing else you would need to drive or get a taxi.

    The welcome pack was a lovely touch! The teenagers only complaint was that you need padding in the beams on the mezzanine but then they are clumsy and added some laughs to the holiday-what's a few bumps and bruises between friends!

The olde world Goodmanham Arms is a delightful pub, with its own brewery, situated in the village of Goodmanham and is a picturesque walk from The Old Church through the old Londsborough Deer Park (apparently where Henry VIII used to hunt).
