  Very clean and tidy. Very welcoming and helpful hosts. Brilliant location for town and canal.

  Exciting updates! 18/11 Flat Cap has been closed for the past month to get a new 'cap' (roof). • "A lovely cottage in the centre of town but very quiet."

• "Second stay for us ."

  Flat caps never lets us down . It has everything you need. Cosy cottage with a wood burner. You couldn’t tell you were in the heart of skipton so peaceful and the town is a 30 second walk away and the canal 1 min away So clean ! You can tell the owners take pride in their lovely cottage . Already booked for next year

• "We had a really lovely stay, thank you."

  The cottage was well located and had everything we needed for a week's holiday, mostly cooking for ourselves. There were lots of extra goodies and plenty of towels and soap etc. The only thing we could add to the kitchen would be a colander! It was great to have parking outside, and we only used the car once during the week. The buses and trains are cheaper and easier than driving, and we loved being able to walk through the ginnels onto the High Street within seconds.

• "Flat Cap cottage is a comfortable well appointed accommodation."

  The location is excellent in the centre of town. The only negative we found was with the shower. Lots of water ended up on the bathroom floor. A simple shower curtain would avoid this happening.

• "The cottage was ideally situated very close to all the facilities Skipton has to offer."

  We could walk everywhere easily so no need to drive. The cottage was spotlessly clean. The Tassimo machine was a nice touch. Also the welcome pack was great. The only criticisms we have is that the sofa was well worn and not too comfortable and the bench seats around the table were very hard. Maybe bench cushions would help? The bathroom would benefit from a new (maybe lower) shower head as it sprayed onto the bath edge and floor. Overall we will certainly book this cottage again. Had a really great few days. ❤️

• "Flat Cap Cottage was a homely house in an 'oasis' of a location only 30 seconds walk from the High Street."

  It had a private parking space out the front which was great for our motorbike. We were very pleased with the cleanliness and the welcome pack on our arrival. The neighbours were also very friendly and welcoming. We would stay there again without hesitation.

• "This is a lovely cottage."

  The central location with private parking was perfect. We decided not to use the car for the week and got around on foot and public transport. There was a very generous welcome pack, and the cottage was very clean. The beds were comfortable. We had a great holiday and would recommend it. There was just one problem, unfortunately the sofa in the lounge is worn out and very uncomfortable, so much so that my husband has come home with backache. It was such a shame because other than the sofa I would give it 5 stars.

• "We loved Flat Cap Cottage."

  It was spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable. Its location couldn't have been better...so quiet and peaceful and yet just 1 minute to walk to the High Street. It was also a huge advantage having a parking space at the door. There is just one thing we would recommend...a small round table and a couple of stools in the bay window in the kitchen would be great. It would be nice to have your meal there looking out of the window. We would definitely recommend the cottage and hope to stay there again. Thank you also to the owner for providing milk, wine, cake etc for our arrival.

• "Cottage was lovely warm and clean."

  Well supplied. For me the settee was too low and uncomfortable. My wife found it ok. Could have done with a mat by kitchen door for wet days. A small table in the bay window for sunny days would be a bonus. Other than that found everything excellent and of good quality. Would love to stay again. Thank you. George and Sylvia

• "A beautifully presented cottage that had everything we needed for a family of 4."

  Perfect location for exploring the local area (Skipton is well placed) and exploring longer day trips to York for example. The many pubs, restaurants are all within walking distance as are quite a few activities including a park which can be reached within 10 mins walk via the canal… super!

• "Fabulous cottage with all the facilities you could want."

  TV channels a bit random (fully acknowledged) so if you have a Netflix or other such account bring your details with you so you can log in! Very thoughtful welcome pack which was much appreciated, especially the Prosecco as we were staying over New Year! The location was superb, extremely close to the centre and all the shops, bars and restaurants. Some of the streets were a little dark getting back after an evening out, I’d recommend bringing a torch. I’d happily stay there again and highly recommend it.

Regarding the TV - we have signed up permanently to BBC iplayer, ITVx, All 4 and MY5 so these should be available. It is a smart TV so guests can log into their own streaming service accounts. • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Flat Cap Cottage."

  It has been beautifully refurbished, and has everything you need, including parking which is a great bonus in Skipton. The cottage is tucked away in a very peaceful cul-de-sac, yet only yards away from the bustling high street in one direction and the beautiful canal walks in the other. We would highly recommend this cottage and hope to return there soon.

• "Ruth and Andrew have done a wonderful job with Flat Caps."

  A luxury stay for us . The welcoming card The pint of milk in fridge the bottle of wine the sticky pudding cake and reading the comments book. We are hikers out all day and and coming home after all our long days out to Flat Cap was like heaven . Just one suggestion a Slow cooker would be lovely

• "Four of us, two couples, stayed at Flat Cap for a week."

  We were all delighted with the property. As others have said, the position of the cottage is superb, being right in the heart of the town but still very peaceful and quiet and having it's own dedicated parking space just outside the door. It's a new rental property and it's been very tastefully decorated and furnished. It's comfortable and warm and felt cosy on the two cold evenings when we had the fire on. It's meticulously clean and it felt very welcoming when we first walked in. The kitchen is very well equipped for a rental property and we cooked our own evening meal on three occasions and there was everything we needed (and all of it new!). The other evenings we walked out the door and tried three different pubs and restaurants within a few minutes walk away. It was great that nobody had to drive. This was a lovely cottage for a week's holiday in Yorkshire.

• "We had a lovely stay at Flatcap cottage."

  The house was clean and comfortable with stylish furnishings. Everything we needed was provided. The house was so handy for the Main Street where there are plenty of Restaurants and coffee shops. We visited Skipton castle which was easy to walk to from the house. We also booked a trip on a canal boat with afternoon tea which was very relaxing. Again this was within walking distance. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful We would definitely recommend this as a perfect place to stay. Susan

• "Absolutely beautiful Cottage."

  Perfect if you wish to just chill. Perfect as a base when venturing further knowing you had a very cosy cottage to go back to after a day of sightseeing. Walking distance to the town with every shop you desire along with the quirky places for souvenirs. Beautiful walks along the canal and around the castle. Lovely pubs and restaurants. The pie shop is a must! Fully equipped Cottage of all essentials and eventualities and more. Planning on revisiting !
