Great for multi generational stays with everything that you could possibly want provided. Very quiet and comfortable living area and bedrooms. Ann, the host, was lovely and very welcoming. Would definitely go back again without a second thought.

Thank you for your assistance in helping mum. The welcome goodies are probably the most generous I’ve ever received with such a large range of items. The chalet was much more than a chalet. It was very spacious and yet still cosy & warm. It was well stocked with everything you could ever need for a week away. It also had the added benefit of features to help my disabled mum get around. The location of the chalet was ideal for us to be able to get to the coast and visit some great villages, National Trust and English Heritage properties. Thank you for a great week away, I’m already missing the view of the cows in the morning.

The property is ideal for my elderly frail mother and has everything you could need for a self catering holiday. The owner, Ann, is very friendly and helpful and the fresh eggs are always a highlight for us. There is so much to do within an hour’s drive of The Chalet we hope to return for our fourth stay next year.

The peace and quiet was amazing and the trains were not intrusive at all. They just underlined the overall peacefulness of the setting. Ann was a perfect hostess, available when needed, but leaving us in privacy otherwise. The Chalet was very clean and well appointed. Water was always hot, and the heating came on automatically when the temperature fell. We had mostly good weather and amazing sunsets, and the relaxing time you dream of. Fully recommend for anyone in search of peace, and all the beauty of the Dales and Moors is within reach. Thank you very much Ann and family!

Ann and her family were absolutely charming , most helpful, informative, and so receptive. We all felt we had met with some long lost friends. There were 6 of us , all adults, and found the accomodation very spacious, with everything we could possibly need, plus some lovely little homely extras. Already, we are searching our calendars, to book our return trip. A great big thankyou to everyone, and a special thankyou to Ann our Host, who was an absolute blessing.

  • "Ann our host was welcoming and friendly."

The chalet was exactly as was described in the bio and more. Extremely clean, comfortable lounge furniture, dressed with a Christmas tree. It has everything you need for a homely holiday:- we had a wonderful quiet Christmas break, mum cooked the dinner in the chalet and had everything to hand. We played board games (sure mum cheats) and was a reminder to enjoy family. The chalet is perfectly situated in beautiful farm land, we had a hooley blowing during the evenings but the chalet was cosy and has a log burner for a truly winter warming feeling. As I have health issues the mobility aids in the shower gave us peace of mind. Ann left us welcome gifts that was so kind.. We visited a few places including the chalk white horse but we really only wanted a quiet reset as a family. We definitely will be returning to the chalet in warmer months so we can take advantage of the garden and to visit the beautiful area.

The property is styled for the older person perhaps but has every comfort, is well equipped and clean. It would be a boon to those with minor physical issues. There is a railway track close by but this should not put anyone off as it is of no consequence and interfered with our stay not one jot. Important to note that this is a working farm with animals etc. but the cattle make excellent and quiet neighbours! All-in-all a very pleasant week and we will certainly return if we visit the area in future. A big thank you to our hosts!

  • "We have enjoyed many holidays in this area."

We were not concerned by the proximity of the trains or the cows, but the single track road to the property was not ideal. In my opinion, the property is very old and dated. The owner stated that it had been empty for a number of years, which would explain the condition and smell of damp. The beds were extremely old and one mattress was badly stained. I feel that they all need to be replaced. Personally, I would prefer fewer ornaments and general clutter, which collect dust. Sadly, it was not a good experience.

Ann was very friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome right from the start of the holiday. The property was clean and well maintained with everything provided that you might need including a very thoughtful welcome basket of goodies. The beds were comfortable and we slept well each night even though there is a railway line nearby. We really enjoyed our first stay on a working farm and intend to stay again in the future. I will recommend the Chalet to friends and family as an ideal base for holidays in North Yorkshire.

  • "We had a lovely week at The Chalet."

The accommodation was excellent - clean, very well furnished and equipped, spacious, with comfortable beds, and perfect for my mum who has mobility difficulties. There is a railway line that runs very close by, and ear plugs were provided to assist, but in truth, we did not use them and we never heard a thing at night - which most of the previous visitors stated as well. Hosts were friendly and available when needed and very helpful. The only thing that I can add as a suggestion would be that a book exchange would be good!

Since your visit we have included a fan and have also added a book exchange draw in the desk as more have been added. (if you take it you replace it with another). Property Owner

Ann and her family have thought to provide everything and more. The chalet was spotlessly clean and well presented (exactly as listed). The chalet was well placed to enjoy the morning sun in the rear garden and the afternoon/evening sun on the front decking. The trains, although close, are not intrusive and the cows provided much amusement during our stay. The Chalet is set in a lovely location overlooking farmland with far reaching views, and despite being near to the railway line, the trains are inobtrusive, in fact it was interesting to watch the trains go past. • "The family who own and run this property deserve to succeed!"

Ann welcomed us and gave us a comprehensive tour of the Chalet but was always ready to answer any additional questions. She and Sarah, her daughter, are a good team! They left us an amazing welcome basket with biscuits, eggs, sweets, tea bags, hot chocolate, sugar, coffee, mulled wine, etc. ( that wasn’t everything!) We met Ann’s husband, Dennis, and daughter-in-law Helen and young Edward, Ann’s grandson. All very friendly and happy to engage. My elderly mother and I stayed here during one of the coldest weeks of December. No matter, we were very cosy and didn’t feel the need to venture far. The log burner is very efficient and easy to manage even for an inexperienced townie like myself. The Chalet kitchen is amazingly equipped, above and beyond what most cooks would use. Useful touches like neat labels on the light switches show an attention to detail. And everything was beautifully clean. In most places I stay I usually find myself bleaching everything before use. Not here! Totally comfortable with the standards of hygiene. Some have complained about there not being a dishwasher but for me it’s no big deal to wash up. Just rope in the other occupants, chat, and watch the trains! The views from all windows are so peaceful. Watching the sunrise and sunset on a couple of the days was stunning. One night I downloaded a stargazing app and enjoyed identifying stars and a couple of planets as the sky was so clear. We even enjoyed watching the trains. They didn’t disturb us but they because of the season all of the windows were closed. The farm track is a nice little walk which we did a couple of times. The track itself is well-maintained considering it is a working farm with wagons and farm vehicles constantly using it. There is a passing place at the halfway point so no panic if you meet another vehicle. We didn’t eat out as we were so cosy and I could cook at a slower pace. Northallerton, 7 miles away, has all one needs for food shopping. Nearby is the English Heritage site, Mount Grace Priory and gardens, which is well worth a visit. Further afield are the North York Moors, stunning at any time of the year but especially in the snow! I honestly couldn’t find fault with the Chalet and, hopefully, we will be able to stay again in the near future.

Property appears to be well-kept and was spotless and toasty. The facilities for elderly/disabled (all on one level) were excellent - my 85 year old mother was well catered for. One final comment, don't be daunted by the proximity of the train line - the trains don't rattle by, they quietly whoosh by (often unnoticed) but they do toot for the crossing (when the train driver remembers!), but NOT overnight.

The owners Ann and Dennis were perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Though very friendly and attentive they were in no way intrusive. The welcoming pack was excellent, one of the best we've had! It is a working farm with about 100 cattle but at no time did they pose any problem. The property was SPOTLESSLY clean. If you have a mobility problem the bungalow has a ramp to the front door and grab handles in the showers. For enthusiasts of steam the NYMR at Pickering is about an hour's drive away - the 18 mile track to Whitby takes a leisurely 2 hours and costs £41 per adult. Whilst there fans of Bangers and Cash can take in a visit to Mathewsons garage at Thornton Le Dale just outside Pickering. If you are intending to stay in North Yorkshire this property has to be high on your list of holiday cottages.
