• "Lavender cottage Threshfield, has been our go to place to stay for quite a number of years."

  It is ideally positioned to explore the Dales from Skipton up to Hawes, and everything in between. The cottage itself is warm, comfortable and much improved since we started staying there. Sophie(owner) is local and nothing is too much to make your stay enjoyable. And there's a pub just across the road!!

  A short walk from Grassington and the local shop in Thresfield has everything you need. Cottage is comfortable and the log burner a bonus due to the extremely wet weather we had while away. Beds are comfortable. Washing machine and tumble dryer provided. Definitely would stay again.

• "Threshfield was a lovely wee village with a very good pub on the doorstep serving good food (massive portions!"

  ) The milk, cake and Prosecco were a very welcome gift, thank you. There was a very busy and noisy main road and unfortunately the road directly outside the door was being dug up, noisy and inconvenient, we were not able to use the outside sitting area!! The furnishings in the living area were a bit grubby as were the carpets throughout although the bed was very clean but the Downie cover was on winter warmth and resulted in very uncomfortable nights in the warmer weather. That said these are simple thing that could be improved and nobody can help when the roads need maintenance and we would be happy to stay again.

• "Lovely little cottage ,we thought some of the carpets were badly stained especially the rug under the coffee table it is very dirty and one of the corners kept curling up which is a trip hazard."

  The cookers oven was very dirty especially the oven door and the grill pan inside ,my parter had a go with a Brillo pad before we left ,Thank goodness for the wood burner as the whole week was cold and miserable,it would be nice to have a visitors book so that we could have wrote recommendations about some of the best places we visited .All in all a lovely little cottage in a beautiful part of the world .

  It is ideally situated for many walks and was comfortable and clean. We were spoiled by having such a fabulous pub across the road in so much as I only cooked an evening meal once!!! The Spar was also extremely handy!

  G. when there has been a power outage how do you reset the cooker. We are requested to turn off heaters when departing, even if the cooker power is left on & then there was an interuption in the supply, the cooker has to go through a reset routine.

  Plenty of good walks from the door and a good pub just over the road. The village was nice and small and not as busy as Grassington which we liked. The host provided a welcome package of milk, bottle of fizz and a lovely cake which we enjoyed very much greatly.

  The owner is investing in the property with a new bathroom, relatively new windows in most rooms so it was nice and cosy. A fair price and great location for exploring local walks. On road parking was safe and secure.

• "We really enjoyed our stay in Lavender Cottage which was beautifully warm and welcoming on our arrival after a very long drive."

  The delicious cake and Prosecco was much appreciated! It was lovely to be able to walk to Grassington and nearby Linton. We also enjoyed taking the bus from Threshfield into Skipton. We can also recommend the generous pizzas served in the Old Hall pub very handily situated opposite the cottage. We would love to return to this idyllic spot.

• "Nice little cottage with all necessary items for short stay."

  Lovely welcome with cake and Prosecco and plenty of wood provided for log burner which was appreciated as it was quite cool in the evenings as it was February.The only negative was the armchair in the lounge which is well past its sell buy date and rather rickety. We had a very pleasant stay and would come again maybe to a slightly bigger cottage next time.

  Lovely little cottage. Nice welcome gifts and all the info you need fully accessible. Some of the carpets and furnishings could do with a deep clean due to looking a bit tired but they were generally clean and comfortable. We had a great week exploring the Dale's from here and the pub just across the road is handy.

  Bedrooms very comfortable, bath and shower were great also. Kitchen very well stocked with utensils and cooking equipment. Cake and fizz provided by owner was a lovely welcome to our stay at the Cottage. Excellent pub/restaurant 2 mins from Cottage. Very close to Grassington - 25 minute walk. Lots of good eating places within Grassington. On the walk into Grassington you will pass a sealed container of freshly baked flapjack for sale from Alice which we can thoroughly recommend. Our dog also enjoyed his stay at the Cottage as well as the numerous walks there are in the surrounding areas which included several swims in the river.

• "Lavender Cottage is in a prime location, set back, with no direct passing traffic."

  Access to safe dog walking is literally minutes away. The Old Hall Inn is a great asset to Threshfield, and literally a stones throw away from the cottage, but not intrusive to the cottage. Lavender Cottage is a light country cottage with good quality fixtures and fittings. Comfortable beds and a good bathroom shower. The added bonus of homemade cake, a bottle of bubbly and milk in the fridge, was much appreciated. The owner sent a friendly and helpful welcome email before/prior to the holiday, in which directions, local places of interest, contact details with any queries were included. Does it get any better? Have already recommended and would definitely like to re-visit.

  The cottage was perfect for our needs and in a great location to explore the area. Lovely walks on the doorstep, particularly along the river Wharfe from Grassington and a short drive to Bolton Abbey and Malham Cove. We had good food at The Old Hall in the village and would highly recommend The Fountaine Inn at Linton. Sophie was very friendly and helpful and milk, fizz and cake on arrival was very appreciated! Will definitely come back.

• "We have already notified the property owner regarding our disappointment with regard to the general cleanliness of the property and have sent her evidencery photographs."

  The kitchens cleanliness was unacceptable I.e. the cooker, microwave and fridge were disgusting and unfit for use. The standard of general cleaning was also extremely disappointing The property fell short of its published luxury standard

• "Property is lovely and in a great location."

  Furnishings are lovely and there’s everything you need. We would stay again. Some items which need attention: Cleaning - lots of cobwebs on walls and windows. Packet of herbal viagra found on the floor behind curtains in single bedroom. Beds - mattresses are really uncomfortable, like sleeping on concrete. Would have been useful to be able to open the front door but there appeared to be no key. Main bedroom door we couldn’t keep closed as latch doesn’t work.

I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and would come back to Lavender Cottage despite the few minor problems. I did actually notice a few cobwebs last weekend when I was cleaning so these have now been removed. I am sorry to hear the mattresses were not comfortable for you, I will look into changing however these can be a very personal choice - a review a few weeks ago said how comfortable they were! There is a key for the front door, I will make sure its more visible for future guests and will get the latch on the bedroom door sorted. Property Owner

  The cottage is beautiful and there are so many extra touches. We welcome gifts were really lovely. The amount of wood available for the fire came in very handy and we loved having the fire lit. The beds were comfy and the bedding like hotel quality. Loved the Emma Bridgewater crockery and the kitchen was really well equipped. One of the best cottages we have stayed in and we will be back!

• "My wife and I very much enjoyed our weekend in Lavender Cottage and appreciated the milk, cake and bottle of Prosecco left by the owner to welcome us."

  The cottage faces the village green and was warm and cosy. There's a garage about half a mile up the road with a shop for buying newspapers and groceries. Grassington is about a mile way. We did some lovely walks in the surrounding area and along the river Wharfe. We'd happily return.

  As well as those further afield, there were some lovely walks from the door, with the larger Grassington village and Linton Falls close by. The kitchen was well equipped. We particularly enjoyed the chocolate cake in the welcome pack on arrival! Thanks for a lovely stay!

  The pictures on the Sykes site dont do justice to the decor which was beautiful. The owner left homemade Chocolate cake and a bottle of bubbly in the fridge. Also milk so that we could have a brew. The local inn did great food. Thank you, wouldn't hesitate to book again.

  Kitchen was well equipped and has quality crockery and small appliances! Our furry friend was also catered for with blanket and clearly welcomed too. I’m sure we shall return to the cottage din the not too distant future.

• "It's in a brilliant location."

  Easy walk into Grassington and to see water falls at Linton. Such a cosy cottage great wood burner and the logs were free, so many others actually charge for these. Great shower and bath. Lovely owners who had left us milk, teabags, a bottle of fizz and a fruitcake. Not very often that happens. Cant recommend this property highly enough. Will certainly be back.

• "We often struggle with your cottages been too warm or the heating is set to come on in a morning too hot, or the boilers can be too noisy but this little cottage was set perfect and we never felt cold at all."

  The newly decorated bathroom was lovely, in fact all the décor was very pleasant and it was well equipped for us to stay in and cook all weekend (we are not fussed for dining out).We contacted Sophie (the owner) before our holiday and she mentioned a plumber was coming to fit a bathroom radiator but he never showed up. It was ok because we didn't mind been disturbed which we mentioned, it wasn't too cold in the bathroom during our stay so all was ok. Hopefully we will return one day and we would recommend to friends & family.

  We are very experienced cottage holidaymakers, and found Lavender cottage perfect in every way, new bathroom is fantastic, bed very comfy, beautiful cottage all round, the heating in the cottage was set perfectly when we stayed in end of November, and used the log burner 3 or 4 times, It is ideally situated and we found places to visit every day, minutes away from Grassington, Skipton and lots of other places spoil't for choice, we will be making this cottage a regular one of ours in the future,

• "Great cottage & location."

  Be prepared for some road noise though! Shame on our holiday that we were surrounded by roadworks, but Thant can't be helped. Very good walks in all directions. Had a really good time at lavender Cottage.

• "The kitchen was well stocked with extras which we had not expected for example, 2 litres of milk in the fridge, a cake, tea bags, instant coffee, sugar, salt, spices, a bottle of Prosecco [which we have received on a previous holiday]."

  We did not need to use the car each day because facilities for us, were within a reasonable walking distance. The Old Hall Inn was a convenient place to dine out and the food was good.

  Lovely pub across the road and spar store nearby for supplies. Great walking base. Skipton is a nice town nearby with all the shops you could wish for and tea rooms galore.

  The local pub was just across the road and had an excellent menu with very friendly staff. The cottage owner was extremely helpful and I would not hesitate to recommend the accommodation.

• "The location of the property is excellent."

  However as an international traveller and regular client of Sykes I was disappointed in this property. It was not of the usual standard we have experienced. The issue was about what was NOT disclosed such as washing machine and dryer in out house so needed to go out in snow, the fridge was in external porch so each time we needed to access the fridge we needed to go out in the cold. The carpets were grubby and towels were fairly poor quality. Overall dissappointing.

  I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay at Lavender Cottage. We have taken on board your comments, due to the size of the property it is not possible for the washing machine and tumble dryer to be located inside the kitchen. The cottage has recently been re-decorated, with new curtains, towels and blinds and a brand new bathroom. Once again I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay. • "We had a lovely long weekend at Lavender Cottage, it was beautiful and a real home from home."

  Really great cottage and we really appreciated the wood burner and access to lots of wood as it was very chilly, the wine, milk and home baked cake was so nice to arrive to. Perfect size for 2 people and our Labrador. The only thing I found slightly misleading was that the listing says shower over bath, there is a shower head but there is no attachment so you can only have a bath, and you did need to push the boost button for enough hot water for two baths. Other than that we had a fantastic stay, as I said the cottage was superb and cosy and it was in such a great location. The butchers in Grassington is a must for anyone wanting to cook in!! We were very happy and we would definitely look to stay in Lavender Cottage again.

• "We loved the cottage and had a great time relaxing there after exploring the Dales everyday."

  Thanks for making the dog feel welcome too, this was very important to us. One suggestion we would make is for the hot water system to be updated. We quickly worked out that for both of us to use the bath, we had to reheat the water which took an extra hour. In the grand scheme of things it's not a major issue. The water pressure wasn't great on one occasion too. This didn't spoil our holiday at all and wouldn't discourage us from recommending the cottage.
