  • "Great value for money and a large, spacious farm cottage."

The road in needs some upgrades and was treacherous at times but hey its a farm cottage so that is to be expected. Also would be great to have some more firewood. Some other reviews said the heating being on a timer was frustrating but we were absolutely fine staying in early March. Overall a nice stay and the Biggest positive is how much space we had for 2 adults and two kids.

  • "The cottage is large and rooms are spacious."

It is on a farm but there are no views from any of the windows, you are extremely close to the farm house and farm entry has no entry signs. The kitchen has a range of pots/pan/utensils but no oven gloves and you will need to bring your own dishwasher, salt, rinse aid as the dishwasher was out of both. The sink also doesn't have a plug. The kitchen/living area has six loft lights but they are all caked in dirt and there is no way of opening them. The heating was on when we arrived (we stayed in August) and you have to contact the owners if you wish to change it as the controls are locked away. The information about the cottage on the website needs updating as there is no BBQ/DVD Player/Games/Books and the information board in the cottage has the wrong WiFi password. The main bathroom has a roof light but it is caked in dirt so you can't lay in the bath and look at the sky. There is no lock on the door. The master bedroom has windows on three sides two of which are next to the main walkway to the other cottage and farmhouse. The farmhouse has bright security lights that don't go out until 1am, so you will need to bring a sleep mask. The mattress is very uncomfortable and you can feel the springs. We did not sleep well. The ensuite extractor fan and sink plug are broken. The second bedroom has loose laminate floor by the window that moves when stepped on causing my children to slip twice.

Well equipped kitchen. Was a little bit inconvenient not being able to control the heating however I expect the owners would have responded to change the settings if we asked as they communicated this in their information at the cottage. Perfect for a quiet family get away.

The directions looked good but the sat nav/postcode option was so accurate I didn't really take much notice :) It really is that far down the drive! A departure from normal was a tablet with property notes and links to attractions which was a nice touch. Tea/coffee and choc biscuits on arrival a nice touch.

Great location for Leeds,York and surrounding areas. The owner Wendy was lovely and helpful. Left you alone but close by if needed. Furniture could do with updating, but comfortable enough. Mattresses could deffinately do with renewing, but we were that tired,we slept okay. 1 mile road down to cottage was bumpy and a bit of a pain, but worth the bumpy drive to see the wildlife at dusk, especially the white owl that we often saw. On the whole,a lovely holiday and would go again.

  • "The owner was very friendly and helpful."

The accommodation was first rate just what my friend and I needed for our stay in the area. I did suggest that a shelf be installed in both the bathroom, en-suite and shower cubicle to stand toiletries on. Initially the tap water was brown water but the owner explained that there had been a problem with the filters but that slowly resolved itself. I would suggest anyone staying there take bottled water for drinking. I would definitely stay there again.

The listing is accurate, the photos do not show the size of the cottage- it is very comfortable with large rooms. Each room was spotless and cleaned to a high standard. We used the property as a base and parked at Church Fenton station and took the 10 minute train journey to York. The owners were very helpful and would highly recommend staying at Pines Farm Cottages.

  • "The cottage was perfectly placed for days out, and we loved seeing the cows in the morning."

It was bigger, brighter and airier than we had anticipated from the photos, and the welcome was very friendly without being overbearing - the owner even baked us a cake for our wedding anniversary, which we very much appreciated. We loved the enclosed garden - very safe for the children and lovely for hanging our washing out to dry (although there was ample drying space to hang it indoors for rainy days). The only niggle was that the water pressure wasn’t great and the pump on the shower was quite noisy (though it did its job of giving decent water pressure for showers). Despite this minor niggle, we have already recommended this cottage to a number of relatives, and we definitely intend to stay there again ourselves.

It is the most peaceful holiday I have ever had. My children loved seeing the cows and really enjoyed their stay. We didn't get to enjoy the garden because of the weather, hopefully next time. The cottage is really cosy, very smart and very well equipped with everything I needed and more. The owners are so lovely, welcoming and ready to help when needed. I would recommend the cottage and will definitely be booking there again.

It was in an ideal position for day trips between York, Harrogate and Leeds with journey times ranging from 20-40 mins. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we could possibly need. We felt very safe with the new Covid procedures our host had provided, such as providing an i-pad instead of a paper welcome pack and a safe system to collect the keys. Before our holiday started, our host provided us with a list of local producers who would deliver to the cottage and also recommended a cycle route for us, as we had said we were bringing bikes with us.

  • "Disappointing to say the least."

The owner was not welcoming at all, did not ever speak to us although on site all week. Needs to supply can of fly spray as flys in double figures all the time. Only three dishwasher tabs our stay was 7 nights. Water pressure very low needed 5 mins to fill washing up bowl. Loos always needed two flushes. Windows very dirty including the skylights which were disgusting and encouraging the flys. Glad I took my own duvet and pillow as only polyester supplied. No access to the farm animals which would have been upsetting had we had any children. Walls full of pictures of cows but none to be seen anywhere. Welcome tablet was slow and we couldn’t find any proper information from it. Compared to other cottages we have stayed in very poor value for money.

  • "We had a great time as pines farm cottage."

It was a great base and we were out all day every day seeing different things. The high chair, travel cot and toddler bed rail were all useful thank you. The facilities are what you would expect and it was a very good value stay. My main criticism was that the bed was very uncomfortable. The children enjoyed being on the farm and although we didn’t get up close they enjoyed seeing the sheep and cows from the windows. I would definitely return if we were going to that area again if the price were the same.

The accommodation was very well equipped and spacious. The secluded spot, a mile down a track was so peaceful but we were only 10 miles from York and all it's attractions making it a perfect base for exploring Yorkshire. The family were really friendly and a nice touch was finding a full milk jug in the fridge and some home made cakes on our arrival so we were able to have a cuppa and relax strait away before venturing out to do a shop for the week. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Pine farm cottage and would certainly recommend it. We plan to return to York again in 2021/22 and we shall definitely be booking this cottage again for our visit.

This location was brilliant for us being within 5 miles of everywhere we wanted. It also allowed us to invite friends back to the cottage. The cottage itself was extremely comfortable and warm. There was central heating as well as a log burner. We only needed the central heating, and whilst we didn't have access to the thermostat the heating was running ninety percent of the time we were there. We visited at the end of October/ beginning of November and not having access to the thermostat was not a problem. In fact at times the place was too warm, although this could easily be remedied with the individual radiater stats. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We will certainly be visiting again.
