Absolutely loved our three night stay and a very friendly owner/host. Spotlessly clean and well equipped - for a self catering apartment. Missed out on the bottle of wine in the fridge and the entrance off the main road is a bad one pulling out, in terms of visibility (could do with a convex mirror on the gate opposite) but nothing that spoiled our stay.

It was spacious, comfortable and very homely. The bed is super comfy and I slept better than I do in my own bed. Being close to the pub was perfect as I would go off for a walk then “accidentally” finish at the pub. As I had two dog there I cleaned up every day and tried to keep the place as tidy as I keep my own home. I didn’t use cooker, mircowave or dishwasher as I ate out most meals. I enjoyed staying here so much I looked to see if I book the following week as I had 2 weeks off work. Thank you to the hosts for the info about walks ect. Look forward to coming back.

It is warm and cosy, with a really comfortable bed and sofas. The kitchen is fully equipped and off it there is an enclosed garden with table and chairs to sit out on a sunny day. We drove down to Luddendenfoot and walked along the canal to Hebdon Bridge, a really lovely walk. Great views towards Stoodley Pike and open countryside. Quiet location we had a lovely 5 mile circular walk calling at the Cat I'th Well pub before the final push up the hill for home. We had a dog with us and there was plenty of local walks near by, some a bit tough on the legs but really enjoyable. It had all the facilities you needed for our two week stay and was very peaceful. The owner's where always willing to help with anything you needed, but left you alone just to get on with your holiday , which was great.. There was a pub 2 minutes walk away, called the Crossroads - We had some good meals in there, the pies and fish & chips where simply gorgeous. If you wanted a more varied range , go into Sowerby Bridge and you will find loads of pubs and eateries. We found a new Indian restraunt called Rajpoot and the food was gorgeous. Firstly the pictures in the listing, whilst accurate give the impression that the entrance is beneath the large windows wheras this is the opposite side and we initially were unsure we had found the right house. The drive to the property is full of deep potholes and could cause some damage to vehicles with low ground clearance, our 4x4 was perfect. There is little space in the property to hang clothes and no drawers to put personal things beyond a bedside cabinet. The most disappointing feature was the large window at the end of the property which in the photos looks out over the hills and the countryside, what is not clear is that there is a pavement and a busy road between the propery and the view so lying in bed with the curtains isn't really an option. So a nice propery but with disappointing aspects. ************************************************************* OWNER RESPONSE**************************** We are very sorry you were disappointed in some aspects of our property. We very rarely receive any negative feedback, as you will see from our other reviews. It is made clear in the description that we are a farm, and therefore the track leading to the house reflects this. You are the first to comment on storage space, and in response we have added more coat hangers to the hanging spaces. Our road leads into our small village and therefore the only traffic is local. Perhaps because it was bailing time, you are commenting on the tractors which are obviously crucial to our rural community. We are nevertheless pleased, despite your disappointments, you saw fit to still grade us as 'met expectations'. ***

About the location

LUDDENDEN

Hebden Bridge 4 miles; Halifax 5 miles.

Luddenden is a conservation village in Calderdale, close to Hebden Bridge. The community is first mentioned in 1284, and in 1375 a corn mill was moved from Warley Town to exploit the Luddenden Brook. Nearby, the attractive town of Hebden Bridge is the home to the picturesque Rochdale Canal and a delightful Victorian railway station. The town of Mytholmroyd is an easy drive away, the birthplace of Poet Laureate Ted Hughes, and famous for the Cragg Vale Coiners. This is excellent walking country, with the National Trust Hardcastle Crags and the Pennine Way, plus the area hosted the Tour De France in 2014. Enjoy scenic drives and cycling across the moors, whilst nearby Haworth boasts the Parsonage Museum commemorating the famous Bronte family who lived there. The area is also a must for steam railway enthusiasts who will enjoy the thriving Worth Valley Railway, whilst the highly-acclaimed Eureka Museum in Halifax is noted for its unique Piece Hall and its Victorian architecture.
