Our stay was enhanced by the fact that we had very good weather which enabled us to visit many places of interest.e.g.York; Brimham Rocks;Fountains Abbey;Mother Shiptons cave. We were very disappointed by the fact that we visited Castle Howard only to find that the house and gardens were closed as they were "Filming there' This all brought home to me the fact that one must book if you want to visit these places because the same applied to Yorkminster. To cap it all, whilst my wife walked round the York City walls ,I went to the National Railway Museum only to find it was closed. All in all ,you would think this all a disaster but 'no, it was disappointing but, there were other things to do which more than made up for it Would I go back to Wallerthwaite Cottage, An emphatic "Yes".
