"The log fire was fantastic, with plenty of wood and coal on site for just a little extra but worth it for the convenience."
The shower in the en-suite was also fantastic. The only negatives I can say was the kitchen tap kept leaking and making strange sounds and I'm not sure why the recycle rubbish wasn't collected on the Friday?
Overall, we had a great time and would stay again.
Definitely value for money, which is why this was our second visit to the location.

"Myself and three friends stayed at Padley Barn."
The cottage had everything we needed and when we arrived there was a basket with a bottle of wine and some biscuits which was a nice touch. The beds were really comfy. The ower told me she had recently replaced the mattresses. There were beautiful walks from the house which we enjoyed each day. Reeth was great for food where there are pubs and cafes. We would definitely come again.

"We cooked Christmas Dinner."
The kitchen is very very well equipped and we cooked with ease. Bedrooms are nice although the middle bedroom mattress has had it and could do with replacing. Lovely living room with a smart tv and good WiFi. We had a really enjoyable Christmas week. It went far too quickly, we could have done with another week

"This is one of the nicest places we have stayed in, home from home, everything you need in a remote peaceful spot with enough nearby to satisfy those who wanted to get out for the day."
Plenty of nearby walks and exploring opportunities for kids who love the outdoors, neighbours were also lovely, left my 6 year old a Halloween treat on the doorstep, really kind and thoughtful. Beds were really comfy, no wardrobe in the double room but didn't cause us any problems, wall hooks and drawers available. Absolutely fell in love with Padley Barn, was really disappointed to come home, hopefully we will come back again soon.

"Padely Barn oozes quality, character and comfort with a bit of quirkiness thrown in."
Set in the tiny hamlet of Hurst which was an important lead mining area (visit Richmond Museum to learn about Hurst's lead mining history) it is far from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
It is a good base to explore the Dales and there are plenty of pubs and cafes in nearby Reeth.
Padely Barn has everything you need and more for a comfortable stay and even comes with a bottle of wine and "goodies" in a presentation hamper. The few neighbours that are about are very friendly and will happily talk about the local area and where to visit.
All in all, a perfect place to stay!

"BEAUTIFUL! We try and get up to Swaledale twice year (birthdays in March, Anniversary in September), and I have been coming to Swaledale nearly all my life."
Sue and I have rented cottages over the last 10 years, and this was one of the best! I know sometimes it is a matter of taste, but if you want somewhere that is completely off the beaten track, beautiful views, cosy, isolated, clean, comfortable, very well equiped, wonderful place to walk, this is the place. It isn't the cheapest, but for what you get, if you want the above, it is great value for money.

Exceptional welcome pack provided by owner. Chosen for its quiet location and didnt disapoint. Several enjoyable walks and unexpected photograph opportunities along valleys with abandoned buildings and landscapes left by mining from bygone years.

"What a fabulous place, the cottage was excellent had everything you needed."
Warm, comfortable lounge with log burner, large kitchen fully equipped. We had the en-suite bedroom, the bed was so comfortable and had a lovely hot shower. Our daughter, son-In-law and Grandaughter’s also enjoyed their stay. It is situated in a lovely peaceful, spot overlooking the countryside. We enjoyed watching the birds on the feeder and watching the black grouse flying around the cottage. One sat on the top of our car the grandkids loved it!! We also had the pleasure of sitting outside with a cup of tea on New Years Day. Took some great photos of the sunset too. We would throughly recommend cottage.
