  • "Lovely property, ticked all the boxes for the holiday we like."

Only thing was no tin opener or oven gloves. Fab location with parking which is always a bonus in Whitby. Would definitely recommend.

Thanks for the feedback - both tin opener and oven gloves have been replaced again! Property Owner

  • "We had a good time with family."

Scenery is stunningly beautiful towards Sandsend, imho only spoiled by golf course! Lots of things were provided, most worked most of the time. Local folk were mostly very friendly and helpful, such as the maintenance men and Costcutter shop. It cannot be easy renting out a holiday home in these expensive & demanding times; as other renters have pointed out, converting this former guest house needs much investment (as does Whitby), obviously some has been done, some maybe still to do. We have stayed at some better Sykes and other cottages, but overall this met most of our needs for the price.

This is the lowest rating we have had, so I contacted the group to know what caused this other than not liking a view over a golf course to Sandsend! They were surprised to know their score was not consistent with over 75% and struggled to fault anything except that the top stair gate had been damaged by someone unfamiliar with how to open it.. The stair gate has been fixed and I will be adding some operating instructions for future guests as it is a highly rated one handed operation premium BabyDan product! Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely break but the cottage needs some tlc."

I get it is towards the end of season but there should be consistency. Some guests got welcome packs and some not, we did not, again consistency. Nice TV’s in 3 rooms, but you could only get basic channels on the bedroom one, not great if you are a strictly fan. Cleaners turned up mid week not realising we were there till Saturday.

Thanks for your feedback… I’ll take the lack of a welcome pack up with the cleaners that should have left it. As to the front bedroom TV, this has the same channel and aerial access as all the others - it must have just needed channel adjustment! Property Owner

! The windows & surrounds were dirty & spiders webs that had been there a while behind the blinds. Bought oven gloves & left as none there. Really enjoyed the hot tub & the size of the rooms & lovely views!! Beds comfy & clean . Had a great time

Thanks for sorting the oven glove - there should have been one there! Will take up your window comments with the cleaners and get them sorted. The garden growth has been cut back. Property Owner

  • "Bathrooms: Both bathrooms need updating."

Toilet got blocked a couple of times. Kitchen: The left hand side oven was not working and a couple of the burners would not ignite, could not set the clock. I think there is a fault somewhere. Trying to cook for 7 people was really frustrating. Not enough Pans, 'only three'. Not enough glass dishes, I think there were three lids and one or two glass dishes. Lounge: Settees were really uncomfortable, they really need replacing. Saying all that we had a lovely holiday. Please take these comments as feedback and not complaints. Thank you.

Thanks for your feedback. The range oven and hob has been checked and are working normally. We will check the kitchen equipment, as there should be a full set of Pyrex dishes and at least 3 saucepans. The lounge furniture comfort has never been found lacking before, we will check it over and ensure it is still in excellent order… Lastly bathrooms - we are aware that they are slightly restricted due to the house design, but function should not be an issue, under normal use - we will add a note to the usage instructions stating that nappies and wet wipes should not ever be flushed as this has been the only cause of this problem found to have caused any blockage. Also no ping pong balls so we couldnt play table tennis. The beds were really comfortable and a great location would definitely stay again

Sorry the ping pong balls have all disappeared - we will replenish. Also will check and refill the gas bottle for the BBQ and clean it up… The hottub lid securing bolts have also been fixed, so should now be easily opened… Property Owner

  • "Well what a fantastic holiday home, went with hubby, dad, 3 teenagers and a dog, the games room with ping pong, darts and huge cinema tv was great for all the family."

Hot tub was great and really well planned out with regards to privacy with shed, fridge and surrounding seating areas. Sea views from most windows and Lovely secure garden for the dog and covered seating area with bbq. The house had everything we needed and more. Also very spacious. We loved the walk into Whitby along the seafront, took about 20mins at a casual stroll. With pitch n putt, footgolf, crazy golf and an ice cream place along the way. We had a few rainy days so the bus stop at the top of the road near the shop was perfect to go straight into Whitby bus station. The pub across the road we would highly recommend. Very nice food, sea views and dog friendly. Was nice to meet the guy that came to clean the hot tub when we were leaving as he came from Wigan like us…. Lovely man who also took away some of our rubbish as we had a lot! so Thankyou (can’t remember his name) We would definitely stay here again next time we come to Whitby. Thankyou

And the gardens both front and back were really safe and fully enclosed for our dogs , which we really appreciated. We had a lovely time and honestly couldnt fault it. Would definitely recommend.

Having said this was very enjoyable stay. But the owner was exceptional. I would definitely stay again relaxing time at the Beachcrest cottage.

Thanks for the feedback - the lounge TV is working fine, so I guess the aerial must have been disconnected… The lounge blinds have suffered a doggy attack, so we will be replacing them in due course… Property Owner

Thanks for your feedback… in addition to the solar lamps around the hottub, there is also a motion sensor floodlight over the garden from above the back door - this can be switched on and off above left on the inside of the back door. • "Great setting."

Beautiful views across the golf course and sea. Felt the bathroom facilities let the property down for the potential number of guests the house could accommodate. We didn’t use the bunk room but it did look a little claustrophobic. The downstairs bedrooms are very comfortable and the kitchen is very modern, light and airy. Upstairs bedrooms were stuffy due to the velux windows not opening (and appeared to be screwed shut). All-in-all we enjoyed our stay at Beachcrest but feel there is room for improvement

Thanks for your feedback. As detailed in the property description the smallest bedroom is a bunk bedroom with fabulous sea views, but suitable only for children…whose feedback has been particularly positive! The upstairs windows and the three veluxes are all fully functional, albeit a bit stiff…. They have all been oiled and loosened so should be easier to use for future guests… Property Owner

  • "What a beautiful home to rent."

I would suggest that more information is given about the hot tub. There are no photos and this is a fantastic luxury. In little private courtyard with a tropical/beach vibe. The bedrooms were lovely and really nicely presented. The Kitchen amazing. Another point being that the listing doesn’t state there’s a dishwasher so that was a great bonus. The only part that lets the property down is the bathrooms. They are very small and not on the same scale as the rest of the property. However there is a limit as to what could be done due to the space available but maybe the upstairs bathroom would benefit a refit.

Thanks for your feedback and we will get some updated pictures as the hottub arrived the day the first guests did! Property Owner

Hot tub very popular with our group. Beautiful clean and comfy beds but with 6 adults and a small child, only one usable shower (over bath shower ok for 6 year old only) and a toilet that had to sit side saddle! Games room in converted garage and cinema room next door only accessible via steep steps down from kitchen and separate outside door. Neither welcoming- anyone with mobility issues could not access without great care.

  • "Property was great , very spacious and good facilties , the hot tub was a life saver after all the walking and we made use of the table tennis table most nights ."

Kitchen was good n lots of room to eat meals for all of us ( 2 kids ,6 adults and a dog ) , garden was enclosed and perfectly safe for the dog and the living room was warm and comfortable. Couple of negatives , the mattress was to soft for me (although everyone else was happy lol ) and the biggest minus was, we felt you need bigger rubbish bins ,both filled very quickly with the amount of people in our party . That said ,overall our stay was amazing and the property and location were superb .

Thanks for your feedback comments. The downstairs front bedroom mattress is soft and loved by some, too soft for others, so we are reluctant to change it, as all mattresses would then be firm… Would welcome feedback going forward and will change if that is the general preference… We have included the Monday bin emptying schedule in the information booklet, so the general and recycling bins can be put out each week. Where this works each week the bins are more than enough… We will keep this under review. Property Owner

The house is brilliant. It would benefit from a more comfortable shower room and toilet, and a more powerful shower. We would also suggest that a 10am checkout time is far, far too early for a house of this size and standard. We would recommend this house, where we spent a short but lovely break.

Thanks for the feedback! The electric power has been marked up to give the optimum performance without reaching the thermostatic cutoff. Glad you had a great holiday! Property Owner

I thought there may have been stairs inside. Also really needs a blind in the downstairs shower room and some sort of screen in the upstairs bathroom do that when you have a shower it doesn't go everywhere. Overhaul the house was amazing and the location perfect.

Thanks for the feedback. We will update the listing to make the games room/cinema room access clear. Shower room screen is on order and we will investigate an upstairs shower screen - however the sloping ceiling means we would not recommend stand up showering in the bath… Will update the usage guide.. • "We stayed at the Beachcrest from 25/11/22 for one week for my husband's 65th birthday, our children and grandchildren also stayed with us."

The house was spotlessly clean and very well equipped for large families. There were plenty of pots and pans for cooking and a range oven, if you wanted to cook meals instead of eating out during your stay. The house is well located, only a 2 minute walk to the beach and a pleasant walk into Whitby town centre. There is also a hotel across the road, which has a bar and serves meals, if you do not fancy cooking, they also sell pizzas to take out. The owner had made the property very homely and there was a Christmas tree up when we arrived, he also left us complementary Tea, coffee, milk, and biscuits. There is a lovely garden, which if staying there during the summer months would be a lovely space to spend sunny afternoons. There is also a hot tub in the garden, which we did utilise during our stay, which was a nice extra touch. The only small negative comment I would make about this property was, it had a beautiful kitchen that as a family we spent a lot of family time in there and during the evenings it was not very private. There are 3 windows in the kitchen, and one is directly opposite the hotel, so people coming and going would constantly look straight in as the light was on. There was also no blind at the downstairs bathroom window. Apart from these 2 small things, the house was amazing and I would definitely recommend staying there. A beautiful home.

  • "We had an excellent break in a fantastic property."

The owners were very welcoming as we arrived, taking time to show us around the property and give us tips on the local area. The property has recently been refurbished top to bottom and is fitted out to a really high standard. Not something we expected to find (or spend any time in!) but the hot tub was definitely a highlight for us all :-) As a group of five we really benefited from the communal space and being able to find our own space (the games/cinema room downstairs). More practical things; the washing machine, dishwasher, two showers, off road parking for two cars and really generous storage space downstairs really suited our group who were out and about on the North Yorks coast. It's a short and easy walk to the centre of Whitby (about 10-15 minutes) and even less to the beach. If you don't fancy venturing that far then the local pub is just a minute away and does a great Sunday roast :-) I would strongly recommend this property to any groups or larger families looking for a break in Whitby.
