Comfortable and welcoming as a dog owner. Parking permits were a very welcome part of the package. We will recommend this to friends to take a few days in Whitby in this comfortable appartment

  • "We had such a lovely stay!"

Beams lair is in an amazing location. We loved the views over the sea and how easy it was to get to everything from West Cliff. The beds were super comfy, the kitchen well equipped and we especially appreciated all the attention to detail for those traveling with children like a high chair, kids plates and cups, and a stool in the bathroom to help little ones get to the sink! We had a perfect stay and will definitely be back!

Dear Jennifer, thank you for this lovely review. We are so pleased to hear you had a super stay in Bram's Lair. • "Beautiful, well maintained property, very comfortable bed."

It was in a great position in Whitby with easy access to everything, The sunsets over the sea viewed from the lounge window was amazing! The small criticism I have is that the access to the property was not as described as there was no green key on the fob,but Yorkshire Coastal Cottages were able to sort this out, albeit with some difficulty, but good humour!

Dear Shirley, thank you so much for taking the time to review Bram’s Lair. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the sunsets and the location. We were not aware of the issue with the colour coding on the fob, however, we were pleased to hear our agents resolved this matter. Best wishes, Neil & Pam Property Owner

  • "Great place to stay."

Kitchen well equipped, comfortable living and sleeping rooms. One thing. Why the self-closing doors, especially as wedge door stops are provided to thwart them from closing. Its anxiety inducing every time you open a door preventing it from slamming shut behind you. So far as I know, no fire safety requirement is involved so, please, it would be a simple matter to remove the door closers. Second thing: bathroom basin too small for the job. Why does every holiday let I book have a basin and tap that is inadequate to the task of brushing teeth and washing one's face ? A triumph of style over utility. Otherwise the bathroom is spacious and practical. Overall a great place to stay.

Dear Philip, thank you very much for the review and feedback, it is good to hear from you. With regards to the sink, this is the first time we have received feedback concerning the size of the sink in the bathroom and it is disappointing to hear it was not fit for purpose for you, but it is good to hear that you found the bathroom both spacious and practical. With regards to the self closing doors, this is a recommendation, as part of a fire risk assessment, to ensure the safety of our guests. Closed doors will give added protection and more time to enable a safe exit. Thank you once again for the review. Neil & Pam Property Owner

  • "Bram's Lair is a lovely flat and provided everything that was required for a comfortable week’s stay."

The only negative would relate to a few minor issues which could easily be rectified. First the window in the front bedroom is extremely draughty around the opener. The bad weather towards the end of the week meant the door had to be shut otherwise the draft would have rendered the central heating less effective around the rest of the flat. We were lucky there was only us but if you had a larger group it would have been an uncomfortable stay for the ones using that room. Some stick on draught exclusion tape would help. Second the kitchen floor has lifted between two joins which creates a bit of a trip hazard. Again this can be easily rectified. The welcome bag was very much appreciated and a lovely touch.

Dear Justin, thank you very much for this review, we really appreciate the feedback. The two mirror points you raise about the window in the front bedroom and the kitchen floor was not something we were aware of and will rectify this. We are pleased to hear you had a comfortable stay and you also appreciated the welcome bag. Best wishes, Neil & Pam. Property Owner

  • "The holiday flat, was lovely."

The welcome pack great. Parking was horrendous, ( not the holiday letting company’s fault) it took me 2 days to be able to park on the road, luckily my mum has a disabled badge, so we were able to park without paying, in a different street. The toilet seat needs changing, it doesn’t fit, it’s a shame, as the decor is lovely, then you put the wrong size seat on the toilet, doesn’t make sense!

Dear Nicola, Thank you very much for the feedback, it is always good to hear from our valued guests. It is wonderful to hear you found Bram's Lair lovely, we have had lots of tremendous feedback on our property, as you can see. With regards to the toilet seat, we have never had anyone mention this previously and as owners we check during each changeover, however, we will check this and address if required. Unfortunately your arrival coincided with the busiest weekend of the year being the Whitby Regatta and all the attractions such as the Red Arrows display, so parking that weekend is indeed a challenge for everyone, including residents of Whitby. It is good to hear you were able to use the disabled badge and eventually found somewhere. Thank you once again. Neil & Pam PS: Since I drafted this I have looked at the toilet seat and it simply needed adjusting, which it has been accordingly. Property Owner

  • "I can highly recommend this ground floor accommodation."

It’s location is within a short walking distance to the main part of Whitby without being in it. Parking was easy and we managed to park outside the residence on all the days of our stay. The provision of a parking voucher took the worry away. The accommodation was very clean and you have all the amenities you would need to make your stay comfortable. We would rebook this accommodation without hesitation and would be disappointed not to get it gain. The only suggestion we would have is to provide some oven gloves.

Dear Michael, Thank you very much for this wonderful review. We are delighted to hear you had such a good stay at Bram’s Lair and hope to see you return again. We do provide an oven glove and these are placed in the apartment every week by our housekeepers during turnover as they are washed; we apologise for their oversight on this occasion. Convenient for the town but also ideal for a stroll along West Cliff. Only one slight problem, the bathroom lock didn't work. Bram's Lair is in a prestigious spot of the seaside town of Whitby, just moments away from the sandy beach.

Reportedly where Bram Stoker wrote the famous story of Dracula in 1897, this dog friendly ground-floor apartment overlooks Crescent Gardens and has views over the coastline and beach, making an idyllic base for families, friends and literary lovers looking for a coastal retreat.

The interior has an open-plan living space with blue, grey, and white décor, as well as a shaker-style kitchen with everything you need to prepare home-cooked meals.

Unwind on the sofa with a cup of tea as you catch-up on shows on the wall-mounted TV or curl up on the armchair to escape into the pages of a book.

The dining table is great for mealtimes and board games, so you can look forward to spending time together.

After a day lounging on the beach, freshen up in the shower room before choosing your room.

There are two bedrooms, a king-size with a dresser and a double bed with a single bunk on top with storage to keep your belongings.

In the morning, enjoy a quaint stroll around Crescent Gardens before picking a café to enjoy a home-cooked breakfast and steaming cup of coffee.

The coastal town of Whitby is ideal for the explorers at heart, where you can tour the ruins of Whitby Abbey, head up 199 steps for splendid views of the coastline and enjoy fish and chips on the sandy beach to unwind.

A short drive will lead you to the picture-perfect village of Robin Hood's Bay; here you can paddle in rock pools on the sweeping beach, find ancient fossils and dine out at a traditional pub.

Also, within easy reach is the vibrant town of Scarborough, home to a medieval castle to immerse yourself in the past, an aquarium to admire sea creatures and a water park for a splash.

For long-lasting memories with your loved ones, consider Bram's Lair.
