  • "We had a great weekend celebrating with family and the house was perfect for that."

Great location,, walking distance to most places in Whitby, comfortable and well equipped. Only things I would mention are the hot tub - we were only advised that this would cost an additional £150 well after we booked. Also, there are no parking permits provided so this wasn’t easy when there were at least 5 cars between us so we had to find and pay for parking all weekend.

  • "We had a fabulous weekend at Sunnyvale House."

All the rooms very comfortable and clean. There was everything provided that we needed. There was 13 of us and plenty of room for us all to sit together.

  • "On initial arrival the property appeared clean and presentable."

Upon further inspection not so good: 1. Damp and wet wall left of the window in bedroom facing the rear. 2. Damp on wall and ceiling in the dining room. 3. No plugs in some bathroom sinks. 4. No kitchen linen ie tea towels/kitchen hand towels. 5. No outside heater as informed by owner. 6. The building looks very tired and in need of full decoration. 7. NO HOLIDAY ACCOMMODATION PARKING PERMIT SCRATCHCARDS. Also Sykes are totally unhelpful in regard to Whitby location issues. 3 representatives attempted a resolve before we arrived.

  • "The house was a good size but it had no parking as advertised so was very difficult to park anywhere near, also the bi s hadn't been emptied for some time so no where to put rubbish, also the house has damp issues and was not very clean on arrival as there was muck under the couches and I don't think it had been dusted in a while."

The house was expensive with all the problems but if they were sorted then it would of been a perfect holiday

I am so sorry that you were disappointed with your stay Mr Fozzard. The issue of the rubbish collection hiccup has been resolved since. At this time in the season changeovers can be rushed as guests vacate at 10 am and the next guests arrive at 3pm but our excellent team of cleaners do their very best. A full redecorate is already planned out of season as we seek to continually improve our offering. I understand from neighbours that you had a thoroughly enjoyable if noisy stag weekend and would remind all guests that an external curfew of 10pm for the hot tub will always apply to respect our neighbours. • "In the accessibility statement it states resident parking permits are available this was important to us as we had someone with a disability in our group."

However after discussion with the owner she blamed Sykes for giving us incorrect information, however in their accessibility statement at the property it does state they are available. As from 9am to 7 pm parking is restricted to three hours ,we had to keep moving our cars which is inconvenient.I think this is an issue people should be aware of.

  • "Lovely house!"

We all really enjoyed our stay here, there was plenty of room for all of us. The fact that we all had our own bathrooms was a real bonus, its unusual to find a place this size with 6 bathrooms - fab! The house was really close to everything, only a short 10 min walk down to the harbour - no need for taxi's/buses. Unfortunately we didn't get to use the hot tub as we were out the majority of the time, however this was all set up for us if we wanted to. One slight issue - no mirror in one of the bedrooms! We managed though & the ladies used the mirror in our room next door! Definately recommend & we will be back! :)

So pleased you enjoyed our lovely home. I’ll certainly ensure there is that mirror for you next time!! Property Owner

  • "Very nice place with plenty of room and facilities."

Parking can be a bit of a problem but West Cliff car park is very near and easy to access.

  • "Lovely property with an ideal size and location."

The shared spaces are a great size for everyone to sit together and the kitchen had ample facilities for the number of guests. Having a bathroom per room was also really useful. A few snagging details have been brought up with the owner which we hope would be altered for the next time we looked to visit. Note that the property advertises parking, however this was not the case due to issues with the parking tickets for the property. There is a car park nearby for bout £9 a day or free on street parking around 10 minutes walk away if you can get a space.
