It had everything we needed, was clean and comfortable and only a short walk into Whitby town centre. We will hopefully be back someday!

  • "A lovely, spotlessly clean, comfortable, modern house within easy walking distance of the centre of Whitby."

We enjoy walking, so it was great not to have to bother using the car at all for most of our stay. We also enjoyed being able to see the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from the lounge window. One observation to mention: the A171 road crosses the River Esk at high level about 50 metres from the house. Prior to our arrival we had wondered if this would be intrusive. But we needn't have worried as we hardly noticed it at all, even outside of the property.

Dear Ken, thank you for this wonderful review, it is always good to hear from our guests and we value feedback. We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Aurora and found it spotlessly clean and comfortable. Having two private parking spaces really is a premium in Whitby and we are pleased to note you took full advantage. We hope to welcome you back one day if you return to stay in Whitby. • "Good to have 2 parking spaces in Whitby."

Pleasant 15 mins walk to the bridge into town. Appreciated the teabags and goodies, thank you. A pint of milk would have been a welcome addition. Kitchen, bathrooms and furniture were clean and modern. The only negatives were a lack of shelf/cabinet in bathrooms. Nowhere to put toiletries. Also mattresses uncomfortable in ensuite room and twin room. Maybe time to replace.

Dear Christine, thank you very much for taking the time to review Aurora, we appreciate comments and feedback from our valued guests. We did used to leave milk in our welcome packs, however it was often left because many people have a preference or an intolerance to certain types of milk. With regards to the mattresses, we will monitor this as we have not until now had negative feedback. We always replace if necessary. Thank you again for staying at Aurora and for your constructive feedback. Neil & Pam Property Owner

We couldn’t fault it. Very clean, the decor is lovely. Everything you need is there. Location is brilliant just a ten minute walk along the river into Whitby town centre. The Cleveland way for stunning walks along the coast is on the doorstep. We would definitely return to this property.

Dear Julie, Thank you very much for this wonderful review., it is lovely to hear from you. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us at Aurora and made the most of the location too. We look forward to welcoming you back one day. Best wishes, Neil & Pam Property Owner

  • "Lovely property finished to a high standard, great for a family."

Location is great for a stroll into Whitby and the property was easy to find. Parking for 2 cars was very useful. The bedroom in the basement felt very cold despite the warm weather, outside areas could do with some attention too. The heating schedule needs adjustment as it kept coming on. Overall, we would visit again and recommend.

Dear Leigh, Thank you very much for your feedback, it is always good to hear from our guests. The ground floor bedroom is North facing and therefore does not get the sun during the day. However, the radiators in there can be turned on to generate some warmth should guests require it. I am sorry to hear about the outside area. We went to the property shortly after you checked out as high winds and exceptionally wet weather for this time of year had caused a lot of debris to fall from the trees. We cleared all of this during the change over day as we did not want to disturb guests while they are staying in the property. Finally, the heating can be controlled by guests using the instructions in the guest information folder. We hope to welcome you back one day and thank you again for choosing Aurora for your stay in Whitby. Neil & Pam Property Owner

We enjoyed our walk to and from the house each day. Lovely decor. My daughter would love to know the colour/make of the wall paint as she has just had a similar kitchen fitted while we were away

Hello Anne, thank you for the time taking to post a lovely review after your stay at Aurora. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your time with us, the decor and the nice walk each day. The emulsion on the walls is Dulux Walls & Ceilings paint and the colour is Egyptian Cotton in a matt finish. Hope that helps and we hope to see you again one day. Neil & Pam. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at Aurora."

Perfect location for walking into Whitby and the area was nice and quiet. The property is spread over 3 levels so there are a lot of stairs. I would highly recommend to the owners to provide stair gates, as my 11 month old would take every opportunity he could to get to the stairs. Luckily, there were doors to every room, so we kept these shut at all times. Lovley large kitchen with everything you could need, with plenty of seating for all guests. We didn't use the outdoor seating area due to the time of year but I imagine it would be very nice in the summer. Private parking for 2 cars right outside the property was a real bonus. The welcome pack was a lovely gesture, thank you. Overall, I cannot fault the property, we will definitely return in the near future.

Dear Zoe, thank you so much for taking time to review Aurora, we really appreciate feedback from our valued guests. It is wonderful to hear you enjoyed the property, the location and our welcome pack too! The private parking is certainly a benefit to our guests given how busy Whitby can be. With regards to the stair gates, we will consult with Sykes again as we were advised to remove them previously. We look forward to welcoming you back to Aurora and Whitby. • "Great place, quiet and comfortable with lots of space and we appreciated multiple toilets across all floors!"

About 15 minute walk to centre of town and no corner shop to pop to although there's a big Sainsbury's 5 mins drive away. You can see the river from the lounge, just, and it's nice to walk along it to town. The keys were on a big key fob that actually makes it very difficult to put them in the key box and shut it. It took nearly 4 minutes to fit them in the box and get it to close so we could leave.

Dear Diane, Thank you for the review, we always appreciate feedback from our guests and we are so pleased you found Aurora a great place to stay and that it was quiet and comfortable too. We have never had any feedback with the size of the fob on the keys, so we will look into that, thank you for sharing. Neil & Pam Property Owner

  • "Thank you for a lovely stay, such a beautiful, clean home."

Amazingly comfortable beds, with crisp, whiter than white sheets. Very well equipped kitchen and sparkling bathrooms on every floor with fluffy towels. Utility room with washer and dryer and wine fridge was wonderful. The townhouse was well-decorated and tastefully furnished with quality furniture, appliances and equipment. Parking for two cars, which is a bonus in Whitby, as we could leave our car and walk in to town. Aurora is in a very good location, with riverside walk enabling a flat, easy, 10 minute stroll in to Whitby with lots of pubs, cafes and quaint shops within easy reach, plus good beaches. We have holidayed in Whitby many times over the years, but have never stayed over this side of the river before, it was perfect. We loved watching the NYR steam train from the comfort of our lounge on a daily basis. Wonderful days out have been to Sandsend, Staithes, Runswick Bay, Robin Hood's Bay, plus inland to Goathland and Grossmont on the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors. Just to note, the townhouse is over three floors, we had a 2.5 year old who is steady on his feet, so this wasn't a problem, but child gates to close off the first and second floor to keep littles ones securely contained would be helpful. The only improvements we would suggest are to the outside back yard area. The paved area would benefit from being jet washed, cushions provided for the outside seats (could be stored in utility room) and provide a washing line and pegs to save on using the dryer in good weather. We definitely recommend Aurora and hope to return to this accommodation for another, comfortable holiday. Thank you.

Dear Holly, thank you so much for your wonderful review, we really appreciate the time taken to provide such valuable feedback. It is great to hear you enjoyed Whitby and Aurora and had a comfortable stay with us. Just to let you know that the back yard area is jet washed by myself regularly and there is a retractable washing line attached to the fence with pegs located in the utility room. We were advised not to place child safety gates in the property by the agents, but we will look into that. We thank you for the recommendation and do hope to see you return one day.
