  • "Cha Cha’s Cottage has everything you could want to ensure your holiday is first rate."

The site itself is really quiet and well maintained. The cottage is lovely and warm, cosy and comfortable. It is spotlessly clean and has all the facilities you need. The extra cloakroom downstairs is a bonus and the hot water is plentiful. With four adults and a baby using the shower/bath daily we found there was no need to use the boost for extra hot water. The owners provided a lovely welcome pack which we really appreciated. All in all a fabulous stay and we would love to return. Absolutely first class!

On site swimming pool and play area are good for those with children and we walked into Whitby town with three and five year old grandkids (via a very safe footpath for most of the 1.5 miles).

It was spotless and had all the facilities you'd wish for. Main bathroom and a downstairs toilet was a bonus . The welcome pack was a lovely surprise( Thank you ).Captain Cooks Haven is a beautiful location and well maintained. Ideal to walk on the cinder track into Whitby and leave the car behind. We couldn't have wished for a better place to stay. Ticked all the boxes.

  • "The cottage was clean."

. that's all the positives i have to say. - Oven, Didn't work. - Hob, barely worked. - Toaster, Didn't work. - Wi-fi was advertised but was terrible and barely useable - The pool was cold and dirty - The Garden was over grown and the kids couldn't play outside. - The 'Park' was a swing, wooden train and a bench. To top it off the owners are awful and called sykes and said we left the place in a 'state' when in reality it was a dirty sheet after i had a nose bleed. My wife cleaned the cottage and striped all the beds, it was a right kick in the teeth to then get a message saying it was left in a state. We wouldn't go back if it was free!

Thank-you for taking the time to leave feedback about your recent stay at Cha Cha's cottage, firstly we would like to thank you for the lovely review you left in our guest book and that you were looking to return. I am very sorry to read about the issues you had during your stay, we are always only a phone call away and respond asap if there is anything you need or something is faulty, we would have come down and and rectified the issue the best way possible. Regarding the oven not working, hob barely working, toaster not working - all these have been tested and are in full working order and been used by the next visitors to the cottage. The grounds on Captain Cooks Haven are very well maintained and very often commented on how nice they look the groundsmen have done a great job in this recent wet weather to keep it looking so well. The swimming pool is a big attraction to all our guests and this is the first time we have read anything negative regarding it. Thanks again for your feedback. Property Owner

We went as a family of four, 2 adults and 2 children (8 & 2) and the property was a perfect size. Super clean and all the essentials you need when you’re on holiday. The area is lovely and plenty of seaside towns to explore nearby. We made use of the swimming which is a small extra charge but worth it as you can use it whenever you want between the opening times which was perfect for us. We would definitely book again!

  • "Lovely clean and cosy cottage on the outskirts of Whitby in a quiet and beautiful location."

It was great having the warm and clean swimming pool to use, just 30 metres from our doorstep. The cottage is bright and comfortable, with very good facilities and modern furnishings. The owners very kindly left us a lovely hamper (thank you!). You can walk to Whitby via the viaduct which takes 20-30 mins with great views, or it’s a 5 minute drive to the centre. The only negative was that we found it difficult to connect to the resort’s wifi due to the signal being weak and intermittent and you are asked not to stream anything - not a major issue for us but would’ve been good to have better wifi. Although there is no washing machine in the house, there is a laundry facility on site at a charge of £10 per week so you do have the option to wash clothes. It’s worth noting that there is an extra charge to use the swimming pool - £10 for less than a week or £20 for a week - well worth it if you’re using it daily. We had a great stay and would definitely book again!!

  • "Everything exactly as described on the Sykes website for Cha Cha's holiday let."

The cottage is part of a riverside complex with around 50 surrounding cottages. Parking was available with allocated space for one car and further very nearby space for overflow car parking - we had no issues with parking for two vehicles. The cottage was exceptionally clean with all facilities needed for a family or elderly couple. Outside table got daily use, and became an attraction for the resident squirrels and rabbits, much to our enjoyment. Would stay again, and possibly bring our bikes for ventures on the Cinder Track. Walked the Cinder path to Robin Hoods Bay, approx 5 miles, good days walk. Whitby is a nearby walk of approx 20 minutes over the viaduct. Had a meal at the Bridge Inn at Ruswarp, would recommend. So all in all a very enjoyable week stay, with a very clean and well fitted out cottage, swimming pool, plenty of footpaths for walking, nearby Whitby town centre, and we had decent weather for the week, well pleased all round. Many thanks to Cha Cha's and Sykes. Note - down by the riverside is a good spot for watching the kingfishers as the tide ebbs and flows.

The welcome pack was a lovely touch, especially as it contained thoughtful items for the adults and small children. The garden area was delightful as was the swimming pool and the play area. There was 4 of us staying but if there had been 6, it would have been a bit too small in the living/dining area. The pool was nice but coolish. And there was a lovely walk over the nearby viaduct. I had the downstairs bedroom which was very cold, unlike the rest of the cottage. And there was no instructions on how to change the heating. But a fab stay all in all.

  • "Just returned from a lovely week in Cha Cha's cottage, with my husband and young grandchildren."

The cottage was spotlessly clean, with everything you could want in a home from home. The welcome basket with wine, cookies etc was a lovely touch and much appreciated after our journey. Whilst a private cottage, it is set in part of Captain Cookes Haven, and as such there is access to the heated indoor pool which we loved. Also at a small fee the laundry facilities, ideal for people with small tots forever needing changing. Cha Chas is in an ideal setting in the beautifully maintained grounds , with easy access to the communal play area and several BBQ's provided free of charge, but with a lovely private patio area too. We were visited daily by Charlie squirrel and the odd duck who had lost its way. Whilst almost all of this area is quite hilly , the walk into Whitby across the viaduct is easy, with just a few steps at the end and pleasant to do. We would love to stay here again next time we holiday in Yorkshire.

Location was excellent in the shadow of the viaduct, which was the start point for an easy and enjoyable walk to Whitby. We can't fault the cottage, it was spotless and a great place to stay. We also enjoyed meeting the owners. It was a shame the pool was closed but this was due to Covid restrictions. Not a fault of the cottage/owners but would have been nice if recycling was available at the location.

  • "Cha Cha's cottage was lovely, well furnished and cosy."

Facilities were above what you would generally expect from self catering accommodation and the cottage was spotless. A welcome pack was much appreciated. A few minor niggles though. The kitchen was very small - realistically only one person could work in there at any one time which did cause some inconvenience. Also the property was advertised as sleeping six - I think this is fine for families but six adults would find it a squeeze. A parking zone card was provided in the property but with no directions as to how to use it so we were left a little uncertain when we used it in Whitby. I know Covid regs mean that little written info could be provided but more general info about the cottage, the site and surroundings would have been really helpful. A couple of examples - it was not clear what to do with the key on leaving, there was no information as to whether a caretaker/ reception staff would be available. On the plus side contacting the owners was easy and the owner I spoke to couldn't have been more helpful.

Surrounded by beautiful scenery, it is a 20 minute walk over the viaduct into Whitby. Walk the opposite way and it’s a 5.5 mile walk to Robin Hoods Bay.
