  • "Clean and comfortable cottage that is a 10 minute stroll into Whitby."

We had a great Sunday lunch at the Bridge Inn at Ruswarp which is a 30min walk from the cottage. Simply cross the railway crossing some 50m from the cottage and follow the path alongside the railway line to Ruswarp Village. Falling Foss, Staithes (including the Cod and Lobster) and Runswick Bay are all well worth a visit. If we could add anything to property to improve it, then it would be a Parasol for the garden furniture to provide a bit of shade on the hotter days.

Idea for Whitby as it had parking and was only a 10 minute walk into town. Was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Very comfy. Had to adjust shower over the bath as the water ran down behind the taps causing a puddle on floor of bathroom. Would be much better with a walk in shower and no bath. Would definitely return.

Have to say that if you are looking for a stay in Whitby, then you can't do much better than Estuary View, being within a 10 minute stroll to the town centre, is a bonus, along with the 2 parking spaces. A real home from home, with everything you need at hand. Very comfortable, and a must for us, is a secure garden/patio, for our dog, which it has. The owner provided lots of information on the area, and was very pleased to help, as this was our first visit to Whitby. Really enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend Estuary View as a fantastic place to stay.

It was very well equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday and the communication with the owners prior to our stay was very helpful. The welcome pack of milk and biscuits was very much appreciated. We slept like logs in the lovely comfy bed so much so that we even missed the northern lights display! We would have no hesitation in booking this dog friendly cottage again.

  • "We were booked in from Friday 19th to Monday 22nd April but left after one night."

The property wasn’t clean and the carpets were very dirty & full of dog hair. The leather sofas had ingrained dirt on them. I felt so uncomfortable that we decided to leave and cut our losses. Can’t believe people rated this a 5. We paid a lot of money and are very disappointed. I could have took photos & complained but thought what’s the point but please be aware this cottage isn’t what it’s cracked up to be.

Dear Mrs Whittaker, We welcome feedback but this needs to be a true and accurate reflection, unfortunately yours is misleading and wholly inaccurate. I find it very surprising that you didn’t contact us or Sykes. We always send a personal welcome email with our contact details on and if ever there are any issues we are able to rectify this straight away. Our holiday home is well maintained. We pride ourselves on high standards which is reflected in all our feedback below. We have owned and rented out our cottage since 2019 and your feedback is the only negative we have ever had. I am also surprised that you took no photos to prove your statements or even request a refund due to only staying one night, even though it appears you did indeed stay for the whole duration of your holiday. Since you have stayed there we have had nothing but positive feedback (not all our guest choose to write on here but instead write in our guest book) and I have just spoken to our current guests and they have said everything is perfect, very clean and are having a lovely time. It is disappointing that feedback can be open to abuse like this and I have to questioning your intentions. Property Owner
