  • "We felt the property could have been cleaner and there was a lack of equipment in the kitchen."

No means of making proper coffee and shortage of cutlery and large glasses, no fish slice.

We all loved the house even with all the stairs

It is in a nice location with good views over the harbour. Really enjoyed listening to the owls at night!

  • "Those front steps were in a poor state and difficult to park in the rear entrance but the house was very clean and comfortable."

Concerned about possible rodents due to the over flowing bins outside not collected by the council.

  • "This is the most wonderful place to stay."

It has everything you need and more. It's so dog friendly, has a beautiful little courtyard and the location is perfect. The bed was super comfy with an amazing view! It has such a homely feel about and it didn't take long to settle in at all. The owners went above and beyond and we felt extremely welcome. I would highly recommend staying here and I can't wait to be back.

So glad to hear you had a lovely stay! Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely stay at Navigators Rest."

The cottage had everything we could possible need. If we had to comment on one thing it would be that it would be nice to have a radio or some sort of music in the kitchen. Thank you

  • "A really enjoyable trip to Whitby."

Navigators Rest had everything we needed and more, it was clean, comfortable, cosy and is really well situated. We did find the steps down to the street a bit of a challenge at first but thankfully the rear entrance made unloading much easier.

Glad you had a nice stay. Yes there are plenty of steps inside and out (improves the view though)…..unloading when you arrive from the Ropery makes things a lot easier. Property Owner

It was ideal for us however would not be great for anyone with mobility issues due to the amount of steps. Ty his was however well articulated on he website.

  • "Disappointing, the cottage was ok, the beds comfortable and lounge and kitchen area were great, getting in and out of the cottage should really have been made more clear, parking was difficult, steps to cottage from front and back were difficult, attic bedroom was only accessible if you bent under beams, bin areas disgusting."

Sorry to hear some things were not to your liking. I have spoken to Sykes and we will update the property description to give more detail on access. Parking is not something that is in our control and is an issue throughout Whitby. The house is 200 years old and the steps and stairs add to the character but again, I will ensure that some wording is added to the description to make the nature of the property more clear. For info....the listing did already state the following "Note: There is low-ceiling access to the third-floor twin room in this property that may be unsuitable for those with mobility issues; please proceed with caution" The bin area is communal, however, the cleaner will regularly check and clear anything that has been improperly left - in addition, I am adding signage and CCTV to discourage improper rubbish disposal. • "The garden at the back needs some clearing and from where rubbish is placed is untidy (many users), otherwise excellent cottage and cozy with good plenty of comforts."

Hob left-hand hand knob is loose and not working, also key in box in the LR table not working in the door. Would come again any time

Glad you had a nice stay and that you enjoyed the cottage. I'll get someone to look at the oven hob, thanks for bringing that to our attention. Yes, the yard (opposite side of the house to the garden) is a communal area shared by all of the cottages in Prospect place, I've asked our cleaner to keep an eye on it. All the best! Property Owner
