"I was disappointed to be so far out from the town centre close to the boat yard which were busy on a build and banging from 8:00-18:00 you should make clear that this is close by and likely to generate some noise."
Could not drop off where suggested due to closure for bike race… should have been notified of alternative drop off point. Had to park very far away from cottage and struggled to find it. Then had long trek back and forth with belongings. I would not recommend to anyone wanting a quiet relaxing few days away.
Many thanks for your feedback, we’re sorry that your stay at Pipit was not as expected. We feel that the property is quite ideally located in the town centre being a 10-minute walk to the old town hall and even less to the Whitby swing bridge, allowing for easy access to the other side of the River Esk. The location is also marked on a map within the listing and the exact address is provided at the time of the booking. With regards to the boat yard, which is historical to Whitby, the activity time can be varied depending on when there is a boat build in progress and given the location of the yard being quite central any noise from it can be heard from most of the town centre. Unfortunately, we are unable to predict when this will be an issue, along with road closures from the many events that Whitby hosts. We hope that you were satisfied with the property itself and enjoyed your stay. Sarah

"Very clean property and well kitted out."
We had difficulty finding the house in the first place. It was let down by the cottages and houses nearby and the difficult steps up to the property. Having said this, the cottage was lovely.
Thanks so much for your positive feedback, it is much appreciated and we would love to have you back anytime. Sarah

The accomadation it's self was good but did not know how steep the stairs were The double room on the top takes two flights of extremly steep stairs to reach we are both 65 plus not good also parking is horrendous and having to lug your bags up several flights of steps just to reach the cottage not for us we were worn out we took our dogs as it was pet friendly but the back garden is not private it is all open plan to the rest of the cottages I think we were mislead by the photos you just had a tiny bit at the front with pebbles will not be returning
Many thanks for your feedback, we’re sorry that this property was not suitable for you. The property is an old fishermen's cottage, which we feel adds to the character and charm that Whitby has to offer but understand that the steps can be steep in similarity to most of the surrounding properties near the town centre. Parking unfortunately is out of our control and again being close to the centre is on a first come first served basis. We have tried to offer as much information as we can regarding this in the listing. The back garden does belong to Pipit but due to the nature of the property and access, is an open plan to the adjoining houses. We have two dogs which we take to Pipit with us when we visit Whitby and have had no issues at all but will take on your considerations to see if we can enclose our area. Sarah

"Lovely little cottage, very clean and provided everything we needed."
..and more! (Special facilities for my dog, including fluffy blanket, hairbrush, bowls, etc. we're a welcome surprise.). Parking not so good, but expected - after all, this is Whitby. Anyway, everything was within walking distance and bus connections were very reliable. Definitely recommend Pipit House and I hope to be back soon!
Thanks so much for your positive feedback, it is much appreciated and we would love to have you back. Sarah

"A very nice property on the outskirts of central Whitby."
Pipit House was perfectly sized for 3 with 2 big bedrooms and full-size bathroom - views from main bedroom are excellent. Spotlessly clean throughout. Excellent value for BH week in August.
Parking - there isn’t any at the property and to be honest not within a 5 min walk of property, but this is Whitby and known for lack of parking. Easiest way - park at the Abby.
Many thanks for your positive feedback and we would welcome you back anytime - Sarah.

"We were expecting the slight challenges in dropping off the luggage and the steep staircase - the listing info was accurate."
Understand the shared walkway to the cottage is not the owners's sole responsibility but it really is terrible, lined with tall weeds, very littered and generally extremely scruffy. Cottage itself was very clean, top floor beautiful. Some bathroom tiles getting a little mouldy. As a self catering cottage we were expecting to be able to sit at a dining table to eat but there were no chairs, and only 3 easy chairs so for families of 4 presumably someone would be sitting on the floor. The back garden was incredibly weedy, the garden furniture could do with rubbing down and re-treating - it just felt unloved and in need of a little TLC. The TV upstairs was not tuned in and we could only watch Netflix or similar.
These are just some honest observations. The cottage is well-equipped, was clean, lovely bed linen and the top floor is great. It was good to note the owners had observed some of the visitors comments (yes we found the Prosecco glasses!)
Thank you for your feedback. Pipit House has been booked up quite regularly this summer so when it is free again, we will be looking to address some of your points. The shared walkways are used by many surrounding properties and some people unfortunately do still litter. We'll be speaking to neighbours to see if there is anything that we can do about this. The garden furniture was painted earlier this year and again we will be addressing this and any weeds that seem to have flourished in the current weather at our earliest opportunity. We will also review the information in the property handbook as the downstairs TV allows terrestrial watching and the bedroom TVs are smart TVs for online watching only and we did think this was specified in the handbook. As the property is a traditional fisherman's cottage, space is limited but we're a family of 4 with 2 dogs and still find it very comfortable. There is a small fold out dining table in the living room with 4 folding chairs located in the under stairs cupboard with cushions for both the dining chairs and outside furniture - again we'll ensure this is specified in the handbook. We hope you enjoyed your stay and welcome you back anytime - Sarah.

It was a long way to get luggage to cottage
Outside steps where very worn
Railings outside cottage missing
The actual cottage was beautiful
The Garden was nice and enclosed
All in all a lovely stay
Many thanks for your feedback, we will take this on board and try to address some of the points you have mentioned. Some unfortunately, are outside of our control due to shared access with surrounding properties. So happy you enjoyed your stay and welcome you back anytime. Sarah

"Comfortable little house but the stairs are very steep."
Plus, with no car access it's hard work bringing the luggage up
We appreciate your feedback and fully understand the points that you have highlighted. With the property being an old fisherman's cottage, cars and access unfortunately was probably not the highest priority in the 1800s, which we've found to be similar for other places in Whitby but on a plus, feel it does add to the character. We're glad you found the house comfortable and welcome you back anytime. Sarah
