  • "River Forge is a lovely property and suits our needs perfectly."

We have stayed there many times and hope to do so again in the future. Customer Service with Sykes however was dreadful, and we will avoid booking with them in future if possible. We received the wrong contact details for the owner and the secondary number for YCC just took us into a loop referring us to the website, which didn't answer our question. After several calls to Sykes and several different advises(total of one hour+ on the phone) we finally got the correct number.Sykes said that they were moving more into digital contact but in our opinion their systems are not able to cope with that yet.We wanted to know if we could get into the property earlier than 3pm.When we did eventually get to speak to the owner they were friendly and helpful, and we were able to get into the property early.Love River Forge, great owners but not Sykes.

  • "The location was wonderful but…."

. the furniture was filthy and stained even the leather had marks on it. The windows had not been cleaned there was liquid runs on the radiators, the hot water ran for seconds for the bath and top shower. Dishes in cupboard had food on them Marks and cobwebs everywhere on the walls and doors

I am sorry you experienced cleaning issues during your stay and have discussed the matters raised with our cleaning team. I an however somewhat surprised as the previous guest was complimentary about the cleanliness of the property? Property Owner

  • "We stayed here last week and how amazing this place is."

We have had the best week of our lives. Such a beautiful house. The location of this place is perfect so close to beautiful restaurants, shops, take away, beaches, arcades and attractions. The cleanliness was brilliant nothing to complain about other than the oven not working so couldn’t cook anything but being on holiday that didn’t bother us. I loved the fact there was a washing machine to do my washing as I went so I don’t have to do it when I got home. Fantastic holiday will 100000% coming back!!!!

  • "Located in a perfect location."

Great sized property. Love the view and balcony was such a bonus. A real Gem. Had a great holiday were there was no need to drive anywhere and you just go straight out to walk everywhere. Very quiet even though you’re in the centre of Whitby. Attention to cleanliness as it’s not up to how it is expected on holiday cottages. If I was there for a week I would’ve given it a deep clean myself. That said I would definitely book here again due to location, size and the balcony. Beds were really comfortable too ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ still given it 5 stars as the only negative was the cleaning of it, and that’s just because, your only on holiday, it doesn’t actually stop you from doing anything. Thank you for making it a really happy family holiday.

I am so pleased you overall enjoyed your stay . I am disappointed the property was not cleaned correctly. I have had a word with the housekeeping team and asked for improvements to be made on an ongoing basis . We have also carried out a ‘ spring clean’ this week. Property Owner

  • "The property is in a perfect location just a few minutes walk from the train station, shops and restaurants."

It was great to have the view over the river too. We were really comfortable there. We ate out so didn't use the cooker or dishwasher but there seemed to be everything you could need in the kitchen. The only negative was that we all felt that it wasn't as clean as it could be. The mirrors were streaky and there was thick dust on some of the skirtings. The bathrooms and kitchen seemed clean but because of dust and hairs in other places it made us wonder if other places had been cleaned properly (eg floors, shower tray) so a bit more attention needed there we thought. The stairs were quite steep and narrow, maybe difficult to manage for some people. Carpet fitters came in on the Monday morning before we left so the next people to stay will have the pleasure of new carpets throughout!

  • "River Forge is a home from home accommodation."

The views over the harbour are amazing. A nice short walk (5 mins) and your in the town centre and sea front. The added bonus of a garage was great. It was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. We forgot to write in the guest book however we will next time as would definitely book here again. Overall as a family of 3 generations ranging from 1 to 56 years we had a fantastic holiday. The owners should be very proud of River Forge.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at River Forge and look forward to your return . Property Owner

The property

River Forge is duplex apartment set in an enviable position, overlooking the marina in the historic port of Whitby.

Set over three floors, this light and spacious property is perfect for family groups to enjoy time together in this popular and lively seaside resort.

Entry is via internal stairs that take you up to the spacious L-shaped sitting room, with large picture windows that open onto a balcony.

With stunning panoramic views over the marina, guests can relax and drink in the view, from where you will see brightly coloured boats bobbing up and down in the harbour.

In late afternoon the sun shines across the water and there are superb sunsets to enjoy; just imagine sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine on a balmy summer's evening.

With ample seating and a large dining area in the sitting room, there is plenty of space to spread out.

The well-equipped kitchen is to the rear and opens onto a steep shared terraced garden, with steps that lead up to a seating area and shed, again glorious views for the more energetic!

The four pleasant bedrooms are set over the top two floors, one with an en-suite shower room, whilst the family bathroom is on the first floor and an additional shower room on third floor.

The property benefits from private parking in the garage below, a rare find in Whitby, and there's free parking directly opposite the apartment.

Although in the heart of Whitby, the apartment is on the quieter side of the harbour, but a short walk brings you into the hustle and bustle of this charming town.

With the shops and amenities all at hand, you are ideally placed for exploring the quaint, narrow streets, the cobbled marketplace and Whitby's many restaurants and pubs.

Enjoy a cocktail in a harbourside bar or partake in afternoon tea in one of the many tea rooms.

Whitby has much to offer, with its 199 steps leading up to the Abbey, museums, including Captain Cook memorial museum, and the pretty gardens in Pannett Park.

Alternatively, why not book a nighttime ghost walk, or a whale watching trip?

With the beautiful scenery of the North York Moors to discover nearby and numerous coastal and inland villages to visit, River Forge provides an ideal base, at any time of the year.
