  • "As a rule me and my family only ever book Sykes cottages."

On this occasion I have come away feeling let down, I am sorry to say. The house smelt of animals and unclean, we couldn’t leave the back door open as the yard smelt really strongly of urine, we tried to clean it. The dining table couldn’t be used when 1 plate on it it wobbled and with it being glass didn’t want to chance it falling off. There is visible damp on the main bedroom wall in the corner of the room, there was a wardrobe door handle on the floor. The bathroom has a towel rail hanging off, In the loft room the window doesn’t shut securely so I didn’t want to leave my 8 year old up there, the curtains where hanging down with no way of shutting them as hooks are missing. I thought with this being a family property there should have been a washing machine also, and Wi-Fi was really bad, unable to watch any television as this was really glitchy, if we hadn’t taken our own fire stick we would have been unable to watch a thing. As I said we have had lovely cottages through Sykes and they have always been our go to. I don’t feel this lives up to standards of previous cottages yet this one is one of the more expensive ones we have stayed in, really disappointed sorry. I would not recommend this cottage. Such a shame as the pictures on line are beautiful.

"Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that your stay at Seastar did not meet your expectations. However, the housekeepers did return straight away to the property to reclean at your request. The property is a dog-friendly property, and sometimes, unfortunately, the smell can linger despite the housekeepers' best efforts. Since your feedback the property has been checked and issues fixed where required. space is limited, we chose to provide a dishwasher instead of a washing machine. We do hope that you will return to our beautiful town." Property Owner

We enjoyed a lovely few days here. The house is finished to a very high standard, comfy beds, gorgeous clean bathroom, cosy lounge and fully equipped kitchen ! We also managed to get a parking space on the street , We would definitely return to Seastar !

  • "A fantastic property that has clearly had a lot of investment and care put into it."

Jen and I agreed that it is definitely somewhere that we would come back to when we come back to Whitby. Sea Star is also a fantastic environment to relax in after a day of exploring the streets. Some suggestions for the owners would be to have a guest book for visitors to sign and leave comments for (we looked but couldn't find one) and some larger drinking glasses. Overall, perfect accommodation with superb facilities that is clean and bright which made our visit to Whitby even better.

  • "The three of us enjoyed our stay at Seastar for a 6 day break."

We found the house to be clean and comfortable and well located for the centre of Whitby. We had a couple of days around Whitby and also a day out at Robin Hoods Bay and a day on the North York Moors Railway. We would recommend this property.

  • "Amazing stay at Seastar, the little house is perfectly located to be close enough to be in central Whitby but in a quiet, friendly little street."

The house is furnished to a high standard and has everything you need, we loved the bathroom toiletries too, Nice touch! We will definitely be booking again

  • "Perfect for our family of four with two teenagers."

Great location on a very quiet row of terrace houses and easy to walk in and out of Whitby. We loved our morning walks on the beach, followed by breakfast by the harbour. We visited nearby Staithes, Saltburn and Filey, but Whitby outshone them all! We managed to park nearby to unload and again to load up, but left the car on the nearby car park, which was £9 for 24hrs. The house is stylish and well equipped. The bathroom is beautiful and new with fantastic water pressure! The beds were very comfortable and the lounge great to cosy up and play the games provided or read a book. The outdoor area could do with a good brush to stop treading dirt into the house but we put a dog towel at the door to keep the house clean. We didn’t really use the little table outside, but it’s very cute and there are little fairy lights at night. Over all a great house for a weekend in Whitby.

  • "Two adults & two dogs stayed for 5 nights Feb 24."

The house was very clean & tidy. Very comfortable. We only used the main bed which was extremely comfortable. The house is well equipped & minutes walk into Whitby. There is nothing really to criticise. The only thing to be aware of is parking on street outside is a lottery. Our car only managed one night directly outside the house. Other than that it was either parked in a town car park (£9.50 a day) or somewhere near the house, wherever we could find. Although the house has three bedrooms it wouldn't be suitable for 6 as advertised. There is just not enough seating on the sofa or dining table to accommodate 6 people. The only other thing to be aware of is both sets of stairs are very steep & narrow.

Hello David Thank you for your great feedback. We would love for you to stay again in the near future. Many thanks Seastar Property Owner

  • "The house was gorgeous."

Probably better than as advertised. It was incredibly clean, spacious and welcoming, beds were comfy, as was the sofa, but the house was stunning. Wouldn’t hesitate on staying again. Only bit of feedback (from a family of 5) is a door lock on the bathroom. That’s not a negative at all, just feedback.

Hello Thank you for your amazing !!!! positive feedback on your first stay with us at the SeaStar. We will add bathroom door lock straight away thank you for the feedback. We hope to see you again soon. Many thanks Michelle SeaStar Property Owner

  • "Really lovely holiday cottage , extremely comfortable and tastefully decorated, only downside being the top floor , it was very sparse and felt it lacked the comfy homely feel the rest of the house had."

Needed a chair or two , some soft furnishings and somewhere to hang clothing at least , a real shame as this lets the house down. Nit picking but the dining room was extremely cold , no heat source in there . Great central spot though however parking was extremely hard to find , but managed over the weekend. Also seemed to be a problem with overflowing water from the bathroom onto the garden area, possibly a blockage somewhere. I would recommend the property Germaine Urry

  • "The house is lovely and in a great location."

The decor is lovely, and just to my taste, and as described. There was a slight issue with the heating, but after a few phone calls it got resolved and the heating was working. Just a little note, it states there is a fridge freezer, which there is. However, it’s really small. I had a grocery delivery to the house but couldn’t fit hardly any of it in the fridge and the freezer compartment is tiny, so it ended up being wasted!! Maybe state this in the details to save others making the same mistake. Also the kitchen and lounge area were quite dark at night and a lamp or two would have been useful. Just little things, but all in all a great seaside escape

  • "The house was really lovely."

There were a few little issues. The paint in the bathroom was peeling off and the extractor fan just didn't seem powerful enough to clear the room. Also the dish washer didnt work and there was no drainage board for the sink. There are just minor issues and overall it was a comfortable house and we had a lovely stay.

Hi Sam, Thank you for your honest review. Im glad you have had a lovely stay. On the last inspection dishwasher was working, Having said that, all the small issues been rectified I hope to see you soon Sea⭐️ Property Owner
