"Wonderful, well-equipped cottage."
Magnificent views. Great hosts. In other words: perfect!

"Had such a lovely stay at Nan’s Cottage thank you."
The place was just perfect for our stay. We had everything we needed, it was cosy, comfortable and felt like a home away from home. The views were beautiful, the location was great, can’t fault our stay in any way and we hope to be back again soon!
-
"We had a fantastic time at Nan's cottage, we didn't want to leave."
My little boy is none verbal but wouldn't stop saying house! when we wanted to go out and look around the local areas. He didn't want to go explore! The cottage is lovely and bright. The sun room was our favourite place to be, although it wasn't very sunny for us and rained a lot, it meant we could enjoy watching the wildlife from inside so we were nice and warm. We lit the fire every night which made the whole cottage nice and cosy. It heated the place up that well we had to open the windows up a few times! Also, thank you for the homemade bread. We really enjoyed having in the mornings toasted with jam! Thank you for a lovely stay, we would definitely like to come back at some point.
-
"This was the perfect place for a holiday."
Beautiful cottage, wood burner, great entrance with amazing views and every comfort thought of. Fantastic bbq hut to gather for an evening and perfect cottage to explore the surrounding area. We would love to go back.
-
"Comfortable and spotlessly clean cottage in a perfect location to explore the Highlands."
We had a wonderful week.
-
"A fantastic holiday base and a real home from home."
Our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Nans Cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and all the added bonuses such as the home made bread on arrival and use of the BBQ hut added to a memorable experience. Fantastic location and scenery with lots to do in the area.
-
"Absolutely loved our stay."
Beautiful views and perfectly clean. Lovely hosts who were always helpful. I have no negatives to say. The BBQ hut was so cosy and was perfect for an evening with bad weather forecast. Thank you for our stay ❤️
-
"Wonderful cottage - fantastic views and loved enjoying our meals outside too looking over the river."
Becky and Warwick were very welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Cottage had everything we needed and was so cosy. Excellent location for exploring nearby glens and the Black Isle, and West Coast and Speyside still a doable day trip. Highly recommend.
-
"Very warm welcome who were there to greet us."
Wonderful outlook & plenty of sights to visit within easy distance.

"We had a lovely week in a wonderful, very comfortable cottage."
The fresh bread on arrival was very welcome and extremely tasty. The views are gorgeous and we really enjoyed using the BBQ hut. Thank you to our hosts and we hope to return soon.
-
"A lovely, warm and cosy cottage with stunning views, set in a beautiful, quiet area but only 10 minutes away from the nearby town and 30 minutes to Inverness."
The cottage is decorated beautifully with very comfortable beds, extra supply’s of the basics are provided which was a real bonus! The owners were very friendly and helpful and checked in with us during our stay, they provided lots of information about the surrounding area in their welcome booklet. The only thing that would have made the stay even better would be more storage upstairs in the bedrooms to store clothes, we understand the rooms are a tricky shape to furnish but it would enable guests to unpack properly. My family and I were very sad to leave the cottage and hope to return in the future!
-
"Really lovely accomodation which was just as advertised."
Immaculate, cosy and comfortable in a beautiful peaceful location. Owners friendly and provided a warm welcome including a delicious home made loaf and fresh flowers. Decor really tasteful with owners own artwork including beautiful bird pictures. The toileteries, robes and wash powder were a welcome bonus Everything needed was there and the property is also well placed for exploring the area Definitely plan to return

"Nan’s Cottage was the perfect place to stay for our family of four."
Everything was spotlessly clean and the cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. The views from the cottage are stunning. Relaxing by the log burner and making use of the bbq were highlights for us.
-
"What an outstanding, amazing most comfortable cottage."
Stunning views from the cottage while sitting in the sun room at any time of day. Perfect most welcoming hosts nothing too much trouble. Nice little touches such as condiments and bath robes for example even a fresh baked loaf still warm on arrival. Would definately recommend and will definately return hoping to do so next year. Thank you for letting us share your peaceful and tranquil piece of wonderful Scotland with you. Paula and family
-
"Stunning setting and beautifully appointed property."
Owners couldn't be more helpful. Fresh bread on arrival was very welcome and so delicious! Use of beautiful BBQ hut was a bonus. Convenient location as a base to explore the Highlands. Would definitely recommend. Thank you.
-
"A credit to the owners; a fantastically well maintained cottage that’s full of character."
Exactly what we were looking for.
-
"Cottage was in a fantastic location for all the trips and activities we wanted to do around Loch Ness and Inverness."
Friendly and accommodating hosts gave us a warm welcome. Nans cottage itself was clean, comfy and had everything there we needed. The BBQ hut is a great idea and beautifully decorated. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay here.
-
"Nan's cottage is a beautiful place."
We can happily say we have not stayed in a prettier, cosier or more scenic property. The views are amazing, the facilities are perfect and the family (owners) that live nearby were a delight. The BBQ hut was an exceptional addition that we very much enjoyed (all provided and set up for us by the owner at no additional cost). We would definitely go back to this property, simply said, there were no faults to be found. Well worth the money. Thank you to the family for lending us this property for the week.
-
"We have stayed in lots of cottages over the years and this was no doubt the best one."
Just beautifully decorated, very cosy and all the comforts anyone could want. Warwick and Becky were lovely and available for any questions. The views from the cottage were just stunning and we can’t wait to go back.
-
"We had an excellent stay at Appletree Croft, such a beautiful and quiet location."
Hosts were really helpful during the stay, and loved the artwork in the cottage. Cottage is lovely inside and has everything you need as well as some lovely extras, the fresh bread on arrival was delicious. Will be recommending to friends and family and wouldn't be surprised to have a return visit.
-
"Absolutely beautiful cottage."
Hosts were friendly and very helpful. The added extras of bathing products, gowns , washing machine powder and a lovely loaf of bread were fantastic. Lacked hanging space but didn’t bother us as plenty of room to put clothes in spare room . The Lovely BBQ hut was fantastic we had a lovely evening with Guests from the neighbouring cottage. ( now friends) . The cottage is in a great location for visiting various places in the Highlands. We covered so many different places and a sunny week made it even more perfect. Will definitely return one day. The views from the cottage were incredible.
-
"Hi, we had a great time, and fully intend to return next year!"
Becky, Warwick and family were most accommodating, and the BBQ hut was an added bonus!
-
"The only comment really is that we thought we could go for walks direct from the cottage, but the reality is that you need to make a short drive in either direction to a more suitable starting point (or walk down a road with no footpath for 1-2 miles)."
Apart from that everything was spot on and as expected.
-
"We had a lovely stay at Appletree Croft and had everything we needed for our week's holiday."
The cottage was warm and cosy, and we enjoyed using the woodburner on a couple of the chillier evenings. The only slight improvement we would suggest is a larger bed and/or duvet - as a couple of larger people we found ourselves fighting over the covers and hanging onto the edge of the bed every night!
-
"Stayed for a week whilst working in the area."
Location is awesome with arguably Scotlands best Glen Glen Affric 40 mins down the road. The property was immaculate on arrival, facilities 10 out of 10, log burner great on cold nights. Views from the conservatory across the Glen were great. There are maybe 2 other self caterings of the many over 40 years I've stopped in I would return to, this is at the top of that short list!
-
"What a most wonderful place to stay for Christmas."
We arrived, travel weary, greeted by Warwick who had lit a warming fire, what a welcome. The property was forensically clean and had all equipment for a weeks stay. Including cooking oil, salt/pepper, dishwasher tablets, tea/coffee and sugar. Plus the Becky home made loaf (delicious and was woofed down in minutes). The views from the property are absolutely stunning and sitting in the dining area was my favourite place. The surrounding area had all we needed. Beauly for groceries, coffee shops etc. Plus numerous outstanding places of interest. We found Dog Falls, Rogie Falls and Plodda Falls within a few miles. All magical in their own right. Additionally we had SNOW! which really set the Christmas atmosphere. Thanks again Warwick and Becky

"A lovely clean well maintained property."
-
"Lovely location, with very welcoming hosts."
More than recommended
-
"Nothing could fault this beautiful area of Beauly, in the Strathglass valley."
From day one we were treated to a amazing views from the very comfortable sun room, perfect setting for breakfast to watch the wildlife go about their daily business. Warwick and Becky were always there if you needed them. But we very rarely did, Pip the family dog was a wonderful visitor (usually for food) but we didn't mind that at all. All rooms were comfy and clean inside, but the nest room was outside on the picnic table. Midges weren't a problem but did begin to fly around end of the stay. We.had such a lovely time staying well definitely return, hopefully for Xmas stay. Oh and the lovely loaf of bread was delicious, no eggs this time, but I didn't see any chickens either.
-
"Very peaceful, tranquil surroundings."
Accommodation was lovely and fresh. Owners very helpful and friendly.
-
"Fantastic location lovely comfy house and some amazing scenery with lots to do ..."
Fantastic location lovely comfy house and some amazing scenery with lots to do and see nearby, owners were very attentive everything needed was provided couldn't ask for much more thanks for a wonderful holiday we will be back
-
"Fantastic property and views to die for."
It was a superbly equipped house and with lots of lovely extra touches - dressing gowns, food basics, warm loaf of bread, shower gels etc. Extremely helpful owner next door. Can’t recommend this highly enough.
-
"My daughter and I loved the property."
Warwick, Becky and the children were lovely and certainly enhanced the holiday for us. It is fair to say the property is not designed for the taller person, the sloping bedroom roofs were not ideal but it didn't take long to find a working solution. The location, views and accessibility were perfect, as was the surrounding countryside and scenery. We would particularly recommend Glens Strathfarrar, Affric and Tomich for walking and spotting Highland animals (a curse on the horse flies though). Most of all, just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet that comes with it all.

"We stayed at Appletree 23rd April 2022 for a week."
The cottage was lovely and clean and warm,a surprise freshly baked loaf of bread on arrival which was lovely and Warwick the owner greeting us in person been very friendly and helpful with lots of usefull knowledge.Throughout the week,at appletree we saw multiple species of birds at the croft and Osprey circling over the river Beauly in the distance.Regular Buzzards flying above.Locally Beauly Village was beautiful with everything you need in food, fuel, takeaways e.t.c.Recommend visiting Beauly Priory steeped in history.Down the road from the croft we saw a Periguine Falcoln near Dog Falls, several deer and stags.Loads of deer at the Beautiful road down to Loch Carron.Isle of Skye a couple of hours away.A plus for us was seeing red sqirrels at Aigas golf club area on the same approach road to the croft and dolphins within 10 feet of the beach at Chanonry point.Anyone visiting Chanonry we recommend going 1to 2 hours after low tide. One of the best places in the world to see dolphins close up from land. The only things we think of that could help Warwick and his family as owners is to add a tumble dryer of a rotary line outside and slab or gravel the car space area as it became very slippy with mud when raining. The croft is perfect for walkers and bird watching with a beautiful sun room on the front looking down the valley to the mountains towards Glen Affric.Dark skies were amazing views on clear nights. One last thing this property is quirky and a restored former croft and would not suit disabled needs as the stairs are very steep to the bedrooms. We wish Warwick,Becky and family well and hope to return soon.Thank you.Mr & Mrs K

"What a fabulous house."
Beautifully decorated and loved the owners attention to detail. The BBQ hut and the homemade bread made our holiday extra special. Thank you.

"I stayed at Appletree Croft for 5 nights in late March."
I found the property via Sykes Cottages and fell in love with the pictures that featured tasteful decor, a delightful sunroom and stunnning views over meadows, mountains and rivers. I was welcomed by the owners with a pre-arrival very detailed email, a warm home baked loaf of bread & an on site friendly welcome! The cottage was ideal for me as a solo traveller, lookig to do some writing, reading, business planning & get away from city life in England. The croft is well equipped with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a beautiful kitchen with all modern appliances including a dishwasher & washing machine. The lounge & sun room were delightful & the garden looking out towards the River Beauly was simply beautiful. There is a dedicated parking space also, WiFi & Netflix! The charming village of Beauly is only 10 miles away. Inverness is a 20 minute drive, as is Loch Ness. Warwick & Becky have done a fantastic job of providing all you need, decorating the Croft with beautiful artwork & offering all the support you need. I was blown away, left feeling relaxed & will look to return sooner rather than later!

"Wow, amazing cottage very well fitted out in a lovely part of the world."
Hosts were fantastic and went the extra mile for us to make our stay even more memorable. I can honestly say this is a perfect holiday cottage/setting.
-
"Super little cottage in a truly beautiful area - great for exploring and chilling out!"
-
"The owners are wonderful and generous hosts."
The Croft was sympathetically refurbished, extremely well thought through in terms of comfort and maximising its natural setting. Lovely views from the cottage, ideal location in reach of the glens, walking, beaches, Beauly for shops. It had it all!
-
"The views up and across the valley from the cottage are a delight, and the sunroom/ dining room lets you enjoy them, whatever the conditions outside."
The owners next door were very welcoming and helpful. The homemade bread and the eggs laid by their own roaming (very determined) chickens were much appreciated. The cottages were a good base to explore Strathglass and the adjacent glens, and also visit the coast of the Black Isle. We had amazing weather and a fantastic week having fun cycling, canoeing, hillwalking and spotting wildlife.
-
"Lovely setting, fantastic view from cottage, Warwick and Becky lovely people, will go back again"
-
"Had a fantastic week in a lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings."
Our children loved the hen and the dog Pip. Owners were very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Fresh bread and eggs were a lovely touch. Would certainly return to the immaculate property again.
-
"We had a fantastic time at Appletree Croft."
Set in my favourite Glen I could have sat and looked at the view all day. Especially loved the friendly chickens. Warwick and Becky were perfect hosts and there if you needed them but not at all intrusive. We hope to stay again.
-
"Thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing getaway in Appletree Croft."
Warwick and Becky were excellent hosts, attention to detail was great. The freshly made bread, and eggs from their hens were greatly appreciated, and the use of the bbq hut was fun. Property was immaculate throughout. Quick communication regarding directions etc. Couldn't fault the hosts. One thing I would mention is as it is a fitted kitchen with undercounter fridge/freezer, it was lacking a bit in space considering we were there for a week. The freezer is a small compartment at top of the fridge so please bear this in mind if doing a large shop for your stay. One small fault, but everything else truly made up for this, at this lovely property.
-
"It was wonderful to escape in the post lock-down era."
A beautiful part of the world.
-
"Beautifully renovated croft - owners have been exacting in attention to detail in refurbishing this property."
Range of facilities in nearby Beauly. Perfect place for a relaxing break. Would certainly plan to return in future.
-
"We had an absolutely lovely week in this beautifully restored and decorated cottage."
The addition of the Scottish soap products in the bathroom and toilet was a really nice touch. Warwick and Becky were very welcoming and both on hand should we need anything, but we didn't, everything had been thought of. The surrounding area is beautiful, with much to explore and see. Nearby we saw quite a bit of wildlife including Kites, Eagles, Deer and a Dipper! Already looking forward to returning next year.

"Although we are only around 100 miles from home this is a corner of Scotland we have not exploded before but the facilities of our accommodation and the hospitality of our hosts mean we are almost certain to be back again to what is a lovely part of the country."
This cottage has only recently been renovated to a very high standard and our hosts, who live in an adjacent house, could not have been more friendly. We were there in October so tested out the wood burning stove. Brilliant; indeed the property is so well insulated we were toasted. There is a BBQ hut with fire pit which looks fun although we didn't have time to try it. Small proviso - if you are of limited mobility just speak to the proprietors first as there are uneven paths and steep stairs.
-

BEAULY
Inverness 12 miles.
Lying on the north bank of the River Beauly, just 12 miles west of Inverness, the village of Beauly is situated at the very heart of the Highlands. An excellent location for touring, the village is within easy reach of Loch Ness, the ancient Caledonian pine forests of Glen Affric and Strathfarrar and the coast (sandy beaches 8 miles). The name Beauly comes from the French “beau lieu” or “beautiful place” and the village prides itself on being both scenic and well-kept, having won both Scotland and Britain in Bloom titles. One of Beauly's highlights is the ruined 13th Century priory, around which the village was built. Today the village is famous for its craft-based industries and offers an excellent selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. With some of the best scenery the Highlands has to offer just on the doorstep, Beauly makes an excellent holiday base!
