  • "Very comfortable cottage, extremely well equipped."

A real home from home surrounded by lovely countryside with great views I wasn't expecting it to be quite so remote and would have liked some guidance on where the walking routes from the property were. However we enjoyed a very pleasant stay and would recommend it for a holiday where peace and quiet were a priority.

  • "Lovely comfortable cottage with everything you will need during your holiday."

Loads of wildlife around the cottage. You need a car as the cottage really is in the middle of nowhere. We loved "Milan" the Italian Restaurant in Wooler, but be warned the portions are big! We took the train from Berwick to Edinburgh, visited Bambrough Castle, Cragside, Lindisfarne, among other places and we were impressed with all. Also good communication with owners. Would recommend.

  • "What a wonderful week we had at Bunty’s Place!"

It was a real home from home, with everything we needed, and so lovely with all the access to the outdoor space and the wildlife on the doorstep. We loved the walk up to and past St Cuthbert’s Cave from the lane nearby, the kids loved scrambling over the rocks and the views from the top ridge were spectacular in every direction. We have already recommended the area to others (sorry! Let’s hope it keeps as quiet though!!).

  • "What an amazing place to stay!"

A very comfortable house with a lovely atmosphere. It has been nicely brought up to date but still had the 1930s vibe which reminded me of my grandparents' houses. The view from the front is towards the Cheviot hills and is constantly changing. You are in the heart of the countryside here and it is very quiet. The wildlife is also abundant - we saw house martins, sparrows, a yellow hammer, willow warblers, thrushes, hares, rabbits and a lizard on our walk up to St Cuthbert's cave. Bunty's Place is probably the nicest holiday let we have stayed in over the last 4 years - and we have stayed in quite a few. Thank you Judy and Andy for sharing this special place.

  • "As you can see, our feedback is varied."

So, I will explain. As we wrote in the visitors book, we had a wonderful week. However there were a few issues. Cleanliness, we felt that was quite basic, no real attention to detail. Comfort, Good, although we did agree with the comment in the visitors book, that the main bedroom should be the one with the single beds in as the boiler is noisy. Facilities & Maintenance, Only 2 saucepan lids, & one of those the knob fell off, the towel hook by the sink in the bathroom fell off as did a hook behind the door!! We always carry a screw driver, so my husband fitted them all back on. Very poor water pressure in shower. Other than that, there is enough in the kitchen for anyone to produce a meal!!! Other than our observations, we did have a really good time & would return, the cottage is in the most amazing area, you could spend every day out walking from the property & leave the car parked up!!!

We are glad that you had a wonderful week in Northumberland, but we're sorry to hear that your husband didn't feel well, owing to his allergy to pet hairs. It is very unfortunate that we had stayed in our cottage that week before you, and had our dog with us, as is pointed out on the Sykes website. She is not allowed upstairs, nor on any of the furniture. As the Cottage is in a remote part of Northumberland (part of its great attraction) the water supply is from a spring, and sometimes the result is that the pressure in the shower is not as high as might be expected in a more built-up area. Thank you for your other observations on our Cottage, and we are very glad to note that you “did have a really good time and would return, the Cottage is in the most amazing area you could spend every day out walking from the property, and leave the car parked up”. These are the things that make us feel that our cottage is special, and make a lot of our guests return again and again. Property Owner

  • "A good sized cottage in a peaceful location with stunning views, wild life and farm animals."

Everything you could need for comfortable stay provided. A couple minor points, boiler in bedroom a bit noisy, only 2 logs for the wood burner provided, I'm sure just an oversight on this occasion. Ideal base to visit many attractions including Craigside National Trust property, Bamburgh, Holy island, Alnwick, where there is also easy access to 4 charging points for electric cars near McDonald's. Would recommend.

Hello Peter, I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay. I'm sorry about the lack of logs and kindling. We have just had a change in cleaning arrangements, and I think I must have forgotten to mention where we kept the wood to our new cleaner. We stayed after you, and noticed a few things that weren't the same as usual, and I'm sure that we can work through it. Thank you for understanding. Judy and Andy Brookfield Property Owner
