  • "A lovely holiday in great accommodation and a beautiful area."

Everything was as described. The property had plenty of room and was very comfortably furnished. The pool room / games room was great and we spent many evening hours playing pool and table football . A chalkboard for recording scores would be a useful addition for us competitive types . Our party of 8 adults and two children had plenty of room and were not under each others feet at all during our stay. The Steadings is in a great area, enjoying wonderful views across the valley to Rothbury. Rothbury was a great large village with shops and amenities to suit all. We had a great week and would readily book again. The only things to be aware of would be the very slippery ( but lovely) wooden floors in the living room and steps to the living room. Thank you for such a lovely holiday in a great area.

  • "An absolutely perfect property in an idyllic setting."

.. it far outdid expectations. The rooms were beautiful and the whole house brilliantly kitted out in both furnishings, style and equipment which made our break so easy. The layout of the house was really great too - heaps of space and always either a quiet nook to escape to or warm room to engage with the family. The games room was a huge hit with kids and adults alike and the fireplace a real winner. The views are incredible too. We promised ourselves we'd return.

The house felt very homely and welcoming and beautifully decorated. We always take our dogs with us and found that the courtyard was secure and felt quite relived that we knew they safe and the lawn to the side enabled us to tire them out with ball games whilst looking out at the wonderful views. We would certainly recommend it to our friends thank you.

Good location for exploring in and around the area and Rothbury village has everything you need. A second set of door keys would have been useful but we managed.

Thank you for your review - sorry about the keys as we always have a spare set if asked. Hope to see you again next year, Ann Property Owner

Teenage sons loved the games room. Pinball machine didn't work but they were more than happy with pool table. We took disposable bbqs and couldn't find bin bags but apart from that was perfect family holiday in every way for a mix of ages from 19 to 90 !! There's some lovely local walks on the door step which could possibly be added to the welcome pack? Thanks for the lovely homemade brownies and fresh milk and flowers !

It truly is home from home, with everything & more, that you could possibly want. It is so spacious and spotlessly clean, in the most idyllic surroundings, a very welcoming space. Beautiful furnishing, comfortable beds, the bonus of a games room, very well equipped kitchen utensils. We will definitely return, it is possibly the best accommodation my family has stayed in. Six adults, three children & one infant. I would highly recommend this !

The weather was not pleasant so we stayed in doors most of the time and the house was so comfortable we didn’t mind at all. Just 2 things, the knives we had to eat with were very blunt and we had to buy a bigger pot to cater for 9 of us. Other than that it was an absolute wonderful place to stay in. The host was very helpful and very friendly. The kids didn’t want to go home. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your review - will sort out knives and have got a big pot!! Weather was not great but I am sure the games room helped! Ann Property Owner

As a family of 5, we had so much space to ourselves when needed with lots of areas to get together for that all important quality time. The games room was an instant winner. The views are stunning, it’s easy to locate, and the tower ruins are a stones throw from the front door. There’s a National Heritage site 10 minutes away which is also beautiful and a little village down the road. I would highly recommend this property for large groups. It is such a lovely house; the location is great and the views just gorgeous. We were a party of three families and all agreed it was the best holiday house we have stayed in. There is masses of space and the two master bedrooms in particular are beautiful. The house is warm, comfortable and has everything you need. The games room was a massive bonus and enjoyed by us all. We all appreciated the welcome milk and brownies from Lindsay too! We walked into Rothbury but if you want to drive there is plenty of parking with local shops that can supply what you need (the butcher is lovely!). Lots to do in the surrounding area and fab walks from the front door. All in all a wonderful place to stay and we didn't want to leave!

We had so much space, we went for New Year for a week as we arrived the Christmas lights outside looked so pretty on entering it felt so warm and cosy as the Christmas decorations were up with the fairy lights on the tree & around the beams, while unpacking Ann knocked to greet us & told us to knock at the farmhouse if we had any problems, however, we did not need to, Beds comfy, shower good, white goods worked well, new sofa's which were comfy & looked better than ones in photos, our bulldog Vinnie enjoyed the large enclosed garden, we used garage door of (games room) to enter garden which had fantastic views to front & side of property also from bedroom windows there was a beautiful garden with a pond & fountain although belongs to B&B. We used the games room every night our nephew had so much fun, however, it was cold at this time of year, we just wore our coats & boots. I would love to see games room renovated with heating & flooring to flow with comfort of this fab property. We enjoyed chocolate brownies and a bottle of milk in a glass bottle obviously produce from the farm, an added extra touch. Well done. Deborah from Gateshead

The location is stunning with great views across the Coquet valley to fields and wooded hills on the other side. It is a couple of miles from the small market town of Rothbury with its quality, independent shops and opportunities for eating out. Friendly hosts were on hand for any problem but not needed. The property has fabulous views down the valley to the Coquet river and has a lovely enclosed garden out front which was perfect for our dog. We loved the games room; given we visited the week before restrictions lifted allowing you inside a venue, we felt we had a venue all of our own to have a drink and play some pool! Rothbury is ten minutes away in the car and we enjoyed a lovely meal outdoors at La Mensa & drinks in the beer gardens at The Newcastle Arms and The Queens Head during our stay. The cottage is spacious and comfortable and was immaculately clean. We had a really enjoyable week at The Steadings.

  • "There can be few better places to spend a week before 12 weeks 'self isolation' than at 'The Steadings'."

A fine cottage based on a working farm at the historic 'Tosson Tower' site. Outstanding views over the Coquet Valley, Rothbury and towards the Cheviot Hills. Very close to Tosson Tower is the Simonside Forestry Walking Area.[ Although the single track road to get to the visitor parking areas is a bit grim for low slung saloon cars] Nearby attractions include Cragside and Wallington Hall NT Properties. The scenery of the magnificent Northumberland Coastal Region including Bamburgh, Seahouses etc is about 40 to 60mins drive away via Alnwick with the Castle and its historic connections. The cottage itself is some two miles or so from Rothbury with its shops and other amenities. The cottage and its owners were very 'dog friendly' and walks starting from the cottage itself supported our canine friend. The secure garden was also a definite plus! The cottage itself was warm, well equipped and a delight to return to after a hectic outdoor day. If there is any slightly negative comment, which did not in anyway affect our party of two, is that with only one shower a full six person party would lead to some morning queuing. The cottage itself is extremely spacious with good wi-fi. Overall a delightful cottage holiday in a turbulent week.
