  • "The downstairs loo was a bit awkward"

  • "I would say that the photographs don't do justice to this spacious and comfortable cottage."

It is tastefully decorated and has a really pleasant atmosphere, and we very much enjoyed our stay. Special mention for the incredibly comfortable beds. Overall standard of maintenance and cleanliness is first class. A couple of minor pieces of feedback would be a) the garden is not enclosed as advertised and while this wasn't a major problem for our pooch, late night excursions for nature's call needed to be accompanied ones, and b) it was a bit disappointing to find that the plethora of subscription TV channels like Netflix etc. required the visitors to have their own subscription. Nothing to detract from a very enjoyable stay. I'm sure we will come back in future.

  • "Really comfortable and had everything we needed."

Thank you for a lovely stay. Managed to spot the stars from the seating area at the back. Lovely river walk opposite the property. Had a great meal at the pub in Thropton.

  • "Splendid spacious cottage with great comfy beds."

Good location too, only 10 mins from Cragside, one the best National Trust places we've ever been to. 30 to 40 mins to all the beaches, Embleton being our personal favourite, with the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle as a backdrop. Highly recommended cottage.

  • "Super accommodation."

Lacked nothing. Situated in a lovely village central to many places to visit and on a bus route. Would definitely come again next time we are in Northumberland.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Bridge End Cottage, it is beautifully decorated and very comfortable with everything you need for your stay."

Dog towels and bowls were even supplied. The garden is very nice but is not fully enclosed so if you take a dog it may need to be on a lead outside. Our only issue with the cottage was that it was quite cool when we arrived (early June, summer had not yet arrived) and we were cold in the cottage, we could not find the thermostat for quite a while but when we did find it and adjusted the temperature it seemed to then be turned back down. By the middle of our stay summer arrived and it was ok. The cottage is ideally located for visiting the coast or the national park. Cragside is 10 minutes away and we would recommend a visit to Rothbury which is 2 miles away. All in all a lovely stay

  • "This was our second stay at Bridge End cottage and was as enjoyable as the first!"

Nice and warm inside despite the weather this last time! Plenty of space for a 2 bed cottage and room for the kids to kick a ball about in the back garden. Washing machine a bonus (also the keyboard!). Thropton well placed for walks on the moors, by the river, Simonside, Cragside, Alnwick, etc. Property clean, comfortable and spacious. Thanks!

It was clean and had everything needed for a comfortable and pleasant stay. Well situated for days out in Northumberland and for doggy walks , Lovely garden with a stream running adjacent, Really enjoyed it, would definitely recommend it and come back.

  • "A beautiful and deceptively spacious cottage in a lovely part of the world."

Ideal location for exploring Northumberland. Wonderful furnishings and facilities. The only thing I would have liked would be to have an upstairs bathroom - or at the very least toilet. The stairs are not steep but going up and down in the night is the only downside and people need to be aware in case it’s an issue for them. Otherwise it’s a lovely cottage and I would highly recommend. We were welcomed by a very friendly and helpful chap who recommended the pub down the road - excellent food and views!

  • "The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and we enjoyed our week's stay."

The whole group agreed that there were some difficulties around bathroom use after long days walking St Oswalds Way and feel that, if it were possible, turning the reading room into a second bathroom would be most welcome

  • "Very enjoyable stay."

Cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable, owners even provided a dog bed, towel, food bowl and poo bags. Thank you for the complementary wine, chocolates and milk by the way. There are some fabulous riverside walks directly from the front door and a great pub just a stroll away which serves fantastic meals.
