I have informed the owner of the issues. I left the cottage on day 3 because of extreme difficulty with the locks. The key jammed in the back door and the front door was unpredictable. I left a note for the owner and feel that the issues raised could easily be sorted in a day.

  • "Loved the cottage."

Both bedrooms and both en-suites are a good size. Downstairs is a great open plan space, with comfortable furniture and a decent sized table for four. Also good, reliable Wi-Fi. Very nice en-suite bathrooms, with really good showers. The location is brilliant, with the Co-op just a few yards away with everything you need, open 06:00 till 10:00. Shops, take-away, cafes and pubs along the high street which is just around the corner. We were able to park on the road outside the property on every occasion, although a free car park is, again, just around the corner. No criticisms, but a couple of suggestions: the open en-suite doorway might benefit from a curtain, although the loo and shower are not in direct line of vision! We don’t expect a welcome hamper, but minor irritation not to have things like salt and pepper, or a spare loo roll.

. Our friends and ourselves had a superb visit to this part of the world (it only rained once) Three comments (not criticisms) 1 We felt a door between the bedrooms and the bathrooms would have been welcome for reasons of privacy 2 Perhaps a visitors book would share experiences. 3. A folder with equipment instructions plus local contact details and bin collections would have been useful. Many thanks David and Janet Eastwood

  • "This is a lovely dog friendly comfortable cottage."

We didn't actually have dogs with us this time but the place is well organised with easy to clean floors and robust leather sofas. There is no grass in the yard though so if you have a girl who will only perform on grass you will need to take her up to the churchyard opposite to empty her bladder in the morning/bedtime. The Co-op just up the road sold everything we needed, lovely friendly pubs, and Milan Italian Restaurant deserves every star it's been given. And the Doddington's Dairy Milk Bar Cafe down the hill on the main road provided gorgeous real ice creams and sorbets including options for diabetics and vegans etc when needed in the middle of a heatwave! Owner Tony was really helpful and responded immediately when we had a minor plumbing crisis on our first day - all sorted in minutes. As a person who also works with rescue dogs and supports another small dog rescue charity it was great to know that all the profits were going to support Rescue Me.

  • "The property is a clean well-appointed terrace house in the heart of the charming little town of Wooler."

Within walking distance to several pubs and restaurants as well as a Co-op. It was our base for locations in Bamburgh, Alnwick, Seahouses, Holy Island, and Rothbury. The first floor is an open floor plan. The kitchen is modern with all necessary kitchen items and appliances including a dishwasher. The living room is ample sized with plenty of comfortable seating, books, movies, music, TV, and a stereo. A large dining table accommodating six people in in the dining area. There are two king-sized bedrooms with ensuites on the second floor. The ensuites are clean bright and include showers. Parking is easily acquired for free on the street directly in front of the property but also a free lot on the same street. We never had to use the lot as there was always space in front of the property. Check in/out was well explained by the property owner Tony, who also provided us with plenty of information about the property, town and surrounding area attractions. A lovely place to stay in Northumberland!

A friendly which has a number to eating out options, literally minutes away and a little supermarket a minute away. No problems parking on the street. We hadn't been to Northumberland before, so the choice of Wooler as a base wasn't based on anything in particular. But we're very glad we choose Wooler and espeically Church View Cottage we had a great holiday.

  • "Church View Cottage is the perfect place for a holiday in Northumberland."

Right in the centre of Wooler, the local shops, pubs and restaurants are literally just round the corner! The friendly cottage owner called us on the morning we were travelling to give us all the info we needed and more! The cottage was spacious and comfortable with everything we needed. The only facility that was listed on here which we couldn't find was a dishwasher. We visited Alnwick and Bamburgh which were both an easy drive away. I can highly recommend the Milan Italian restaurant (best i've had since visiting Sorrento!) and the No.1 Tapas restaurant, both in Wooler. For Sunday lunch we drove further out to the Percy Arms in Chatton which was delicious and the pub was lovely.

  • "We had a wonderful relaxing week here."

The cottage was as described. Booking and website great and easy to use, staff on phone friendly and helpful. Communication at all levels great from Sykes re booking, prep and arrival and from owner re access arrangements etc. Cottage Great for family or 2 couples with a shower room for each king size bedroom. Open plan lower floor great for socialising giving loads of space. The kitchen had all the pots and pans and utensils neede for cooking. Location was good being only 30 to 45 mins away from places like Holy Island, Berwick, Bamburgh, Alnwick, lots of castles and beaches. Wooler has many amenities just a couple of minutes walk - a large Coop on the corner, 3 pubs, take always, fish and chip shop, 2 cafes, 2 bakeries and a family butcher. The cottage is opposite a Church, church bells ring on the hour telling the time, if you keep all the windows closed at bedtime (including the bathroom window) then you don’t hear them too much and after the first night we tuned them out.

  • "For the first time ever staying in one of your cottages I can’t recommend this cottage."

To not publish that the en-suites have no doors on is a big deal. The rest of the cottage is as advertised and in a good location for touring Northumberland.

Thanks for your feedback. Due to the age and the character of the property a door cannot be fitted due to the physical restraints. However the walls are 2 feet thick, both bathrooms are of a large size and have been specifically designed so that everything in the bathroom the toilets and showers are completely obscured from the bedroom to protect modesty with customers usually appreciating the quirkiness of the design. We're sorry that on this occasion you were disappointed. Wooler proved an ideal base for exploring the Northumberland countryside, the Cheviot Hills and the beautiful coast from St Abbs down to Alnmouth and beyond. Picturesque harbours and impressive castles in abundance! The National Trust's Cragside not to be missed - likewise Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, and much more. Great roads with very little traffic. Facilities in Wooler itself very good - a Co-op that's open until late every day just a few yards away, a great Italian Restaurant, called Milan not much further and a good range of shops.
