  • "Lovely cottage which was very clean, cosy and well kept with all the amenities, bed was a little hard for us but it’s difficult to know which one to get !"

only other slight problem was that no smart tv which would have been great as the house had internet - would have no problem highly recommending for a couple with a dog.

Hi Mark, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Aln Cottage. I agree that mattresses are very subjective and so it’s difficult to find one that suits everyone, but I hoped that one with medium tension would suit most people. Thanks for the feedback on the TV - it is on our list to replace as soon as is practical. Thanks again, Sandra & Matt Property Owner

  • "Cosy cottage good use of space."

Would have liked more plug socket’s.

Hi Esther, Thank you for your review - we are really pleased you liked our cottage. As the new owners, we are currently looking at ways to increase the number of sockets but it’s proving very tricky in a 200 year old cottage! We hope to have this issue resolved during our winter closure. All the best, Sandra & Matt Property Owner

  • "This is a pretty cottage but it is NOT dog friendly ."

If the owners do not want dogs upstairs then don't have an open plan layout. We have stated I dozens of cottages and we have never felt so tense and unwelcome. Would be perfect for a dog free couple . We felt so worried that we drove home after a few hours wasting our money

Dear Gillian, We were really sorry to read your review. We like to think our listing is very clear and accurate - ‘airy open plan living area’ - and our photos confirm this. In addition, our agent is on hand 24/7 to resolve any problems our guests might have. We wish you all the best. Sandra & Matt Property Owner

  • "Beds were awful not one decent night sleep, cheap mattress."

Bathroom need up date plus an extract fan to prevent black mould. shower head had black deposits of mould, and could do with a detachable shower head for the Mrs to wash her hair separately. Otherwise neat little place.

Thank you for taking the time to review Aln Cottage. We were really disappointed to read your thoughts on our brand new John Lewis mattress - we found it very comfortable, but suppose everyone is different. Our lovely cleaner has given the shower head a thorough clean, so thanks for pointing that out - it’s not something we would have noticed. We are very excited to be renewing the entire bathroom over the winter. We hope you enjoyed your stay in beautiful Alnmouth. Sandra & Matt Property Owner

  • "Cottage - recommendations to improve the experience for others: 1) more electrical socket plugs in the main bedroom."

The existing extension lead couldn't reach the other beside lamp, or to the mirror area when using the hairdryer 2) small fixed extendable mirror in the bathroom as the wall mirror is set to far back to be of use 3) additional blankets for use both downstairs (when the evenings were chilly) and/or use for in the bedrooms Information booklet headed up "NorthumberlandCoast and Cottages" made references to 1) use of discounts for local attractions. I contacted and subseqeuntly advised these are only available off season. I suggest (and have emailed but no response) to add a footnote to this information sheet within the property. 2) a garden and a parasol - but we didn't see this and confused us as this was not listed in the booking details. Please ensure inforrmation aligns

Hi Sheila, thank you for your review. We are the new owners of Aln Cottage and have a programme of renovations planned for the winter months which includes a new bathroom and updates to the electrics/sockets which will address the issues you have raised. As far as blankets are concerned, there are two in the bedrooms, but we will buy a couple for the lounge too. We have asked NCC to correct the information in the guest folder - unfortunately we haven’t seen the new folder as the cottage has been fully booked, but we will check it during our next visit. We think the mention of the garden and parasol is just general information in the folder which doesn’t apply to every property - certainly not ours, as we don’t have a garden!! We hope you enjoyed your stay in beautiful Alnmouth. Sandra & Matt Property Owner

  • "Perfect cottage in a perfect village."

Aln cottage is as cute as a button with everything you could need, though maybe bring a sharp kitchen knife. Beds are comfortable, the shower is good and hot water is plentiful for deep bubble baths. We really enjoyed hanging out in the light and characterful lounge/kitchen, though we spent most of the day out on beaches or coastal paths. It is a few minutes stroll to the immaculate, golden, sandy beach, which is very popular yet has plenty of room, even at high tide. I recommend a sunrise/sunset paddle when the birds on the estuary and sand banks are calling. Most atmospheric. Parking is a pain, but the X18 bus is frequent from the village and the nearby train station is on the main line to London, Edinburgh and more. Brilliant cottage in a brilliant location.

Hi Karen, thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review with lots of useful tips for future visitors. So glad you liked the cottage and wonderful Alnmouth. I’ll get those knives sharpened as soon as possible!! Sandra & Matt Property Owner
