The internal fixtures and fittings are nice, modern and of good quality. I have rated the property as 4 not 5 star to reflect relative ratings. I have awarded smiley for the individual elements as it is a high quality 4 star rated property.

  • "Garden Cottage exceeded our expectations."

The cottage was beautifully decorated, well equipped and maintained, cosy, comfortable and quiet, a real home from home feel. The garden and walks from the Cottage door were perfect for our two Labrador’s. The walk to Alnmouth via the cycle path around 40 minutes. Our hosts were on hand if we needed anything and made us very welcome. The chocolates and Prosecco on arrival a real treat. The chickens, ducks, cockerels and Guinea Fowl all very friendly and very entertaining. We’ll definitely stay again thank you for having us. Kind regards

It was so lovely to meet you, thank you for the flowers and chocolates ❤️. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

  • "Loved the cottage, spotless and everything we needed in the kitchen."

Tastefully furnished and decorated. As other guests have mentioned. It was problematic taking the dogs out late at night with no direct access to the garden and no outside security lighting. The chickens and cockerels kept us entertained. Cottage lovely and warm with plenty of hot water. Have already recommended to friends who will be going to garden cottage in a couple of weeks.

  • "No issues with property or location."

Big issue was cockerels waking us up at 4-5 am. We live opposite a farm literally 100yds away so are used to all that noise but the cockerels really were a pain.

Hi, sorry if our boys have disturbed your stay, I can only apologise on their behalf. I don’t hold out much hope but I will try and have a word and ask them to maybe have a lie in once in a while. Property Owner

  • "The only reason this isn't a five star is because to get into the garden you have to go out of the front door, walk around to the back of the property onto the track and open a gate."

This means no eating of breakfast in your pyjamas outside without putting a coat and shoes on, and quite majorly, letting the dog out to do her business in the night when needed involved a lot of faff too as we couldn't just open a back door, we had to get shoes and a coat on and go outside with her. We absolutely LOVED the cottage itself, it's beautifully decorated, there's a huge TV, the wifi and all other connections was the strongest signal you can get and there's always hot water for baths and showers. In fact, the bath is the most comfortable one we've ever found on holiday. The owners are really helpful, there are baby bunnies and hares bobbing about outside along with chickens, and the location is wonderfully hidden away whilst still being close to Alnmouth. You really can't go wrong so far as the cottage itself and its location. But we'd only go back if access to the garden from inside the cottage was sorted out. We appreciate that might not be financially possible though, and if you haven't got dogs and don't mind the detour to the picnic table you'd absolutely love it too.

Thank you for your feedback, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Sorry that the layout didn’t completely meet your needs on this occasion. Lesley and Darren Property Owner

  • "We had a fabulous week at Garden Cottage, which was made perfect by glorious weather for the whole week."

The cottage was very clean, tidy, and well presented, and the farm setting made it very peaceful indeed. The owners checked in with us by text during the week to make sure that everything was ok for us, which was very reassuring without any feeling of intrusion whatsoever. The location was perfect too - very central to all the things we wanted to see whilst in Northumberland. All in all a lovely cottage and location - no hesitation in recommending to friends and family.

  • "Just had a lovely week at the Garden Cottage."

It is a stones throw from the beach, despite being set in the countryside so you get the best of both worlds. The cottage setting is extremely peaceful and if you enjoy watching wildlife there is a lot to see. The cottage itself is very comfortable and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. My only concern was that the garden wall is quite low but I think my dogs were scared of the chickens so didn't really try getting over it! We would def visit again. Hosts were great and thank you for the wine and chocs.

Thanks for the lovely feedback, we are so pleased you have enjoyed your stay. We will have another look at the description and see if we can make it clearer about the wall being low. Hope to see you again. Lesley and Darren x Property Owner

Very spacious and nicely decorated. Owners on hand if you need them but they are not intrusive. Its a fair walk to the beach and any amenities, so own transport essential at this cottage. The cottage we stayed in had distant beautiful sea views. No wood provided for log fire but excellent central heating system should you need it. Loved listening to the cockerels. Such a peaceful place to stay. We certainly would go back to this cottage

Interior decoration is excellent, furniture tastefully chosen and very comfortable. Good size enclosed garden for our dogs to run around safely. Owners very amenable, friendly and checked with us to ensure we had everything we required. Minor comment; that access to the rear garden was not from inside the property, so we had to walk around the cottage with our dogs.

The cottage is in a peaceful rural setting with a view of the sea in the distance across the fields. The drive up to the cottage was flanked by hundreds of daffodils welcoming us! The sea is a twenty minute walk down the hill and the network of brldle paths stretches along the stunning coast and inland too, which makes for great and accessible walking.
