"A lovely, well appointed property."

It was warm and clean and was like a "home from home". The owners are very friendly and having them live close by is an asset. We did struggle with the new door key however as it was very difficult to use until it was oiled and it was becoming more stiff as we left. We can't wait to return in March 2024 and May 2025!

"Think the heating needs looked at."

Unless radiators turned right down, the heating was coming on at about 2am. Not a great fan of the door, very hard to open and close, maybe a bit of WD40 otherwise a nice stay as always.

It benefits from having parking nearby and is in an ideal location for exploring Alnmouth and the surrounding areas. I would strongly recommend Martins Cottage and can't wait to return.

"Off street parking, very quiet garden with seating."

Martins cottage was perfect for us as on one level, clean, well equipped even a welcome gift. Close to restaurants, shops, and pubs. Easy walking to countryside and beach areas.

"The only thing we could have done with was a small set of steps."

Some shelving very high and a bit wobbly standing on one of the chairs. Otherwise everything good and we hope to stay again.

"The cottage was pleasant, well equipped and in a good location."

Good bath. Nice log burner but no logs on arrival which was disappointing. Also no salt and pepper which I would consider a standard requirement. Had to go out and buy a few basics, difficult to know in advance what will be there when you turn up. Info said shoe rack and slippers provided but they weren't there and although quite obvious where the (very pretty) garden was it would have been nice to have been told!

. . highly recommended! The only shortcomings, as reported to the owner, were the wi-fi connection (TV resolved), the operation of the wood burner and the insecure tap in the kitchen.

"The cottage is lovely and is used throughout the year."

Regular checking of the facilities should be checked including the microwave. We contacted the office regarding the rug and crockery. The owner responded immediately. We were very happy to stay there and have enjoyed staying there in the past. Very central for all the facilities the village offers. Beautiful area. Missing it already!

In the heart of the charming town of Alnmouth in Northumberland, Martins Cottage is a delightful, single-storey cottage which offers the ideal destination for couples looking for a romantic bolthole.

Having been tastefully renovated, the property boasts a wealth of attractive features such as a vaulted ceiling, a contemporary woodburning stove, tiled flooring and décor in cool, calming hues, which all add up to create a really welcoming ambience.

You can imagine kicking off your shoes, taking a seat on the comfy sofa in front of the woodburning stove and relaxing into your holiday.

When tummies start to rumble, step into the kitchen which is fully fitted with everything needed to produce romantic meals for two and you can take a seat at the elegant dining table and enjoy long and leisurely meals together.

The beauty of the accommodation being all on one level is that it’s easily accessible, so not far to stagger to bed where you’ll find a sumptuous king-size bed waiting for you to sink into it as well as a TV, so you can indulge in some chill-out time while enjoying your favourite telly!

The spacious bathroom is a great space for a long, relaxing soak in the bath or a quick dip in the shower.

Either way, you’ll be refreshed and raring to go in the morning and vibrant Alnmouth is within a short walk where you will find a good selection of shops and eateries as well as a golf course and miles of sandy beaches.

Take a short drive to Alnwick, famous for its castle and gardens, or drive a little further to attractions such as Hadrian’s Wall, Howick Hall and Gardens, Dunstanburgh Castle and Northumberland Country Zoo.

Take a boat trip over to the Farne Islands where you might catch sight of an unusual bird or seal.

If you love wildlife, then you’ve come to the right place with RSPB reserves at Annstead Dunes and Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre.

Activities worth having a go at while you’re here include golf at Alnmouth Golf Club, horse-riding at Slate Hall Riding Centre, surfing at Bamburgh Castle Beach and sailing at Beadnell Sailing Club.

Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants.
