  • "We had a great stay in this cosy and comfortable cottage."

Location is good as it is within walking distance of local facilities.

  • "Lovely cottage, beds, seating all very comfy."

However a bit short on basics, washing up liquid, liquid soap, foil etc - we had to buy these items. No full length mirror in cottage either, which would be a welcome addition Although the cottage seemed very clean we kept finding long hairs on everything, but non of our party have long hair, so would question the cleaning service. Overall good base.

I loved the upstairs to the cottage, the dining arrangement was not brilliant the bench is too big for the room but overall lovely stay

  • "The house was beautifully furnished & decorated which was why I booked it but we found the small kitchen rather awkward even just for breakfast for 2 people."

It was generally very clean but the fridge hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived & the bedrooms carpets were a bit dusty in corners. The welcome pack was so basic and felt like an afterthought, something more in keeping with the property, perhaps some nice items from Scotts deli round the corner would’ve been more appropriate.

  • "Location was very central and the living room was spacious and comfortable as was the first floor double bedroom."

The main concerns were that the living room window looked out on a high stone wall so the room was dark. The second floor attic bedroom had very low beams and so it was a constant worry about being knocked out if getting up at night without remembering! Also the kitchen was tiny and would be difficult to use to actually cook a meal. It was ok for snacks and takeaways to heat up. It should really be let as a two person cottage.

  • "We had a really pleasant stay although finding on-street parking was difficult at times, always a problem in Alnmouth."

Although the kitchen is small, the rest of the cottage is spacious and the upstairs rooms are lovely and light. Minor criticisms: we’d have appreciated some small glass tumblers, and a freezer compartment in the fridge would be useful (even if only big enough for ice cubes). Some of the pans were not very clean, and the living room was a bit grubby “round the edges”. The ceiling light in the living room was very dim so a tall lamp near the table would be great. Lots of things we liked: the quirky decorative objects, the lovely bathroom and the comfy bed.

  • "Fabulous cottage, very clean and super comfy beds."

The cottage is spacious and homely and is in a great location, close to restaurants, pubs, post office and beach. Alnmouth is a fantastic place to visit, there are frequent rail connections on the east coast mainline from Alnmouth station and the X18 bus from Alnmouth up to Bamburgh is the most scenic bus journey I've been on!

  • "The cottage was clean and tidy but was surprised the kitchen was so small."

I was disappointed with the welcome pack, obviously bought from some supplier to hospitality - little sealed packs of coffee, tea, milk and biscuits as found in hotel bedrooms. My usual experience is cottages is lovely baskets of wine, crisps biscuits etc - something that looks like a bit of thought has been put into it. The same with the box of cleaning products - I didn’t know it was possible to get such a tiny bottle of washing up liquid ( probably contained a tablespoon of liquid). When you pay a lot of money for a cottage it is nice to have some effort put into the nice little extras that are the norm in most cottages. No visitors book in the cottage, which is always useful for recommendations on where to eat etc. Alnmouth itself was lovely- beautiful beach and nice dog friendly local eatery’s. However I wouldn’t consider returning to this cottage as I felt it was overpriced for what was actually provided.

  • "Lovely little cottage in centre of Alnmouth."

Local pubs were good and the beach 3 mins walk away was beautiful. My only issue was second bedroom was small and difficult to get in/out of bed due to the wooden roof beams. All in all a great stay.

  • "Very good cottage for a week away."

Well located at the heart of the village and easy access to the beach through the village. Clean and all the amenities expected in a small cottage.

  • "Comfortable and quirky cottage."

Well equipped. Good position in the village. Some sort of draining mat or integrated dish drainer would be very helpful . We used, and kept wringing out, a cloth we had taken with us to stop everything getting wet.

  • "We had a lovely, peaceful Christmas week in Sandpiper."

We chose the location to allow us to meet up with family and it worked perfectly. It has a great central location right on the doorstep of The Sun Inn, where we enjoyed an early evening drink, and The Whittling House, the location for a family lunch. The property is warm and cosy and has everything needed to make it a relaxing and easy place to stay. Only absence was a freezer compartment in the fridge which led to iceless G&T's! It might be helpful to make this a bit clearer in property details. I would definitely recommend this property to others.

  • "Brilliant location and fantastic cottage, bedrooms were spotlessly clean and v comfortable."

The kitchen was bijou and took some conjuring to wash up. A very small point - a draining board with a drip tray would be handy otherwise it after gets everywhere! Other than that would definitely recommend

  • "We had a lovely week staying in Sandpiper."

Just a few glitches. Parking … more detailed info on where to park or a parking permit would have been useful. I’d been to Alnmouth before so had a fair idea where to park. If one was a stranger it would have been more difficult at the end of a long drive. The cottage was clean and fresh, all but the oven which would benefit from some attention. Beds were super comfy. Although the cleaner was late coming we were reimbursed for needing o go out for a meal and there was a nice complimentary bag of goodies. Contact with the agency was easy and accessible. .

Nice comfortable bed. Lovely finishing touches and art work in every room. Within easy walking distance of shops, pubs and of course the beach. Parking was a little tricky but not a huge problem and being down a lane it was very quiet. Would definitely consider going back there, especially back to Alnmouth.
