  • "Had a pleasant 3 night stay @ The Sea Chest but felt the apartment needed some tlc & and more thorough cleaning!"

Regarding the outside of the property, the ground floor apartment’s view has now been obscured by the houses built on the land in front! This information / up to date photographs should be given before the point of booking!!

  • "Not as shown in photo, grass area in front of property is a large building site, noisy and no view, just houses and building equipment, so had to go out everyday."

Five key safes without labels so difficult to find right one when we arrived, faulty lock on communal front door, unable to use family bathroom as floor swollen so door jammed open, broken toilet seat, some of showers not working, surface coming off kitchen pans and plates, broken kitchen bin. Not happy should have looked at the Tripadvisor reviews as apparently an ongoing problem. Not the holiday we thought

The third bathroom door has been repaired. All other items function as normal. Building work outside is now complete. Property Owner

  • "The dripping tap in the living room is quite irritating and should be repaired."

The accommodation is pleasant however is situated about 12 feet from the substantial building site where they continue to work at weekends. The information on Sykes website states the work is due to complete by Easter 2022, this is incredibly misleading and I have asked Skye’s to explain this, I am also considering referring them to the Advertising Standards Agency for this. Parking can also be difficult due to the tractor parked next to the building site. I would not recommend staying here given what seems to be never ending building site next door.

  • "Very nice location, very nice house."

We very much enjoyed our stay. We knew that there is a building site immediately in front of the house, but it wasn't really disturbing. We enjoyed the village with its facilities and the sea and made a lot of trips to the many interesting places around.

Fix water leak in main bathroom that is soaking the carpet and swelling the floor. Update misleading photograps that don't show huge development outside your window.

  • "The beds in the twin bedroom are definitely more suited to children than adults, with mattresses very soft."

The smoke alarm kept beeping but just for a few hours each day rather than all the time - I think the battery might need replacing. There was quite a few religious materials and personal belongings in draws which we found a little odd. The layout of the property was perfect for us though, really liked the open plan living space and each bedroom having its own bathroom.

  • "Some of the bedding is very tired, not all pillows had protectors on and some were badly stained."

The duvets are really lumpy, as they were last year. (Need replacing ). The fridge stopped working and we lost some food (, it had to be discarded) we had to buy ice bags to keep our milk fresh. We also had to clean the dish washer as it was dirty. There was a shortage of glasses. Some windows would not open and as the weather was warm is was uncomfortable. We have stayed here before and standards have dropped. The apartment needs some TLC

  • "It was problematic only having one key and the door bells don't work so in order to access the place if we went out separately, we had to come and bang on the windows as there was no phone signal in the building either."

If we'd inadvertently got locked out it would have been pretty difficult to get back in! Repairs don't seem to be happening - toilet seat wobbly, dripping taps. Also there were TVS in every room but none of them work! Not attached to working aerials. The knives were also totally blunt. Couldn't use the fire when it got chilly. Directions not terribly helpful.

  • "The apartment lacked the 'WOW' factor, it did not reflect the price we paid for the week."

There was a slight air of neglect and attention to detail was missing. The crockery, glasses were poor, kitchen bin was broken and externally the waste area left a lot to be desired. Thankfully we know and love the area and therefore still enjoyed our week.

  • "There are points which should be addressed as they spoilt the expected high standard of the accommodation."

On entry noticeable floor not vacuumed thoroughly. Kitchen bin broken and when moved floor was covered in breakfast cereal. Vacuum was full and when used kept cutting out. When vacuum emptied still only worked for a few minutes then overheated and cut out. We eventually managed to clean the floors. Twin room - The shower had a solid door which opened inwards not allowing an adult above uk size 6 in. Bed side lights one bulb was out the other flickered. Double room ( Sea Breeze) - Shower temperature gauge could not be adjusted. Shower screen leaked on floor. Toilet seat not secure. Master bathroom - Toilet seat not secure. Kitchen - No instruction information for cooker, hob, dishwasher or washer drier. Information package was YEARS out of date. A suggestion would be to have two bins in the house one for recycle.

. With heavy plant working 8am to 4pm creating noise and dust.People staying nearby who had booked with other agents had been advised and offered a change or reduction in advance, but not a word from Sykes. Complained when we got back, not easy given the absence of contact details. Two weeks later still not received anything but automated reply’s. customer service is Rubbish. The apartment was also far from clean the worst of which was not discovered until we left when we revealed filthy and stained pillows and mattress covers disgusting.

Otherwise the accommodation was clean. There was a problem with the hot water on the 6th day, the outside bin situation was unclear and the oven was not particularly good. Otherwise we had a great holiday.

  • "The property was superb and as described however it was let down by Sykes."

I expect to be able to contact someone easily when I ring for assistance and do not expect to be told of a 1 hour delay. However once through this delay the hot water issue we had was resolved very swiftly. In summary the property was great but I would recommend the owner choosing a different letting agent as I will in the future.
