  • "This was a wonderful property, very spacious and more than suitable for four people."

We loved the log burner and the style of the house and high spec finish made us enjoy the property. It was very well equipped furnished to a really high standard and was really comfortable It is a very short walk into Alnwick making restaurants and facilities really close. It is very close to a lovely church, whose quarter hour clock chimes start at 6.15am to 11pm, and is on a busy main road, both of which did meant that we were woken early each morning and struggled to get to sleep in the evening. However we did accept that this is part of being in a lovely town

  • "Nice cottage in a lovely town."

Unfortunately church bell rings every 15 minutes from 06.15 til 22.30 which is more than noticeable in single glazed houses. Very busy road during day straight outside front door, living room window rattled every time the wind blew. Nicely done kitchen but no cupboard space at all to put anything and no freezer. A washing machine would be nice especially for walking clothes but had to go to an industrial estate to do laundry. Not everyone has a lot of money and some people save hard for a week away to relax and feel refreshed unfortunately that wasn't the case so wouldn't return to this cottage but would definitely return to Alnwick. Oh and read all the reviews in the book and every one said about their fantastic welcome pack but didn't receive a thing.

  • "The cobbles was great beds sooooo comfortable."

Although the cleanliness was ok there was some clumps of fluff on the stairs, dirt around the window frames and dusty bedside lamps. It would have been better if we could open the upstairs bedroom windows. Also the shower tray is deadly slippery.

Thank you for taking the time to give us this feedback and we are glad that you enjoyed staying at The Cobbles. We have passed your feedback to the housekeeper and have purchased a non-slip shower mat which will be delivered during the next changeover. We hope you will stay again. Claire Property Owner

About the location

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike; for even more excitement, the enchanted world of Lilidorei is also available at Alnwick Gardens, offering seasonal events and plenty of fun for little ones of your group. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
