  • "The house was lovely except that the leaking boiler, reported by the previous guests, hadn't been repaired and left us with no hot water or heating on the first morning."

This wouldn't have been a problem except for the impossibility of contacting Sykes to report the issue. Your customer service is a joke! Your out of hours numbers are a sham and it took over half an hour on hold to contact you in office hours. It is unlikely that we will ever use Sykes again or recommend anyone else to do do. A lovely property let down by a very poor agent.

  • "The boiler at this property is faulty."

It leaked and lost pressure, and I had to clean up a pool of water in the bathroom and place a bowl under to catch the leak. The emergency number provided was office hours only! Maintenance attended and increased the pressure but the leak remained, meaning I had to monitor the amount of water and empty the bowl for 3 days of our stay. Customer Service has been sorely lacking: they will not offer any refund, there has been no apology, and they told me to take third party advice when I asked to escalate the matter!

  • "Lovely big house."

Well equipped kitchen and lovely comfy beds. We have visited Northumberland numerous times and stayed in Alnwick parking is always an issue but here we had no problems and would choose this property again. Thank you for a great few days

  • "Comfortable and tastefully furnished townhouse an easy walk from the centre of Alnwick."

Very well equipped kitchen. Great selection of books, games, maps. On-street parking, but was never a problem finding a space.

  • "We found the property very well equipped and in an ideal location for exploring the town and surrounding area."

The only problem we had was a self locking bathroom door, but this was sorted out by the local management company extremely quickly and efficiently. We are definitely thinking of using the property again in the future.

Thank you for taking the trouble to leave some feedback. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your patience with the bathroom door issue. We hope you will stay again! Property Owner

About the location

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, the Lilidorei attraction for children (billed as the worlds largest play structure), a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
