"Had a lovely stay at The Old Smithy over the Christmas period."
Very central for all amenities and harbour. Great quiet location and spacious rooms downstairs. Parking is what it is but this is in description. Overall a good stay, however, there were some cleanliness issues which owners were notified of. Some furniture could do with replacing and a downstairs toilet would be a massive advantage as there is only one bathroom in the property. Would I stay at this holiday let again?…. Yes and hopefully the cleanliness issues that were raised have been acted upo

The Old Smithy is a 200 year old former BlackSmiths and offers well-presented accommodation, ideal for a family getaway to the coastal town of Amble, Northumberland. With separate rooms on the ground-floor, guests can gather in the elegant sitting room, take a seat in the stylish dining room, or spend time preparing food in the fully-fitted kitchen. All the rooms are light and airy, and the property exudes a warm, welcoming vibe. A spacious courtyard outside provides plenty of room for children and pets to run around safely in an enclosed space, while the adults can make the most of the patio furniture as they soak up the sunshine. There is even a barbecue, so if the weather allows it, why not fire it up and enjoy some alfresco dining? When itâs time for bed, make your way to any of the three delightful bedrooms, choosing between a double, a twin, and a childrenâs bunk bedroom. After a rejuvenating nightâs sleep and a refreshing shower in the contemporary shower room, youâre ready to go and explore. The Old Smithy is a wonderful base from which to discover the delights of the region, with the property already in the heart of the bustling seaport of Amble. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches, and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs, and lobsters. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks, and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trustâs Wallington Hall and Cragside, are all within easy reach. The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged.
