  • "Clean, well equipped, spacious and comfortable accommodation."

Good location. Situated on the high street in Amble , a friendly harbour. Easy access to good restaurants, bars shops with the added bonus of a green dog walking area immediately to the rear of the property.

Thank you so much for your 5* review, really glad you enjoyed your stay in the Old Smithy and enjoyed all there is in Amble. Property Owner

  • "We had a great stay at the Old Smithy, 2 adults and two dogs."

It had everything we needed and was a fantastic base for visiting all of the beaches. The dogs had a different beach walk every day as well as a few in land woodland walks. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack, it was very much appreciated. It was great being so close to the main high st which had a family run butchers, bread shop, the Co Op and many other small shops. We had a lovely meal at the harbour Inn which was also dog friendly as were the staff. We would definitely like to re visit.

Thank you so much for your wonderful 5* review, sounds like you had a full and enjoyable week. So glad the Old Smithy met with your expectations and hope you get to return. Property Owner

  • "Lovely spacious, comfortable, well-appointed and clean cottage set in a secluded central spot just behind the main shopping street."

The courtyard is a sun trap although access could be a challenge for some due to parking on the Main Street compromising the archway entrance at times and the width of the archway at its narrowest point. We managed ok by driving in, carefully doing a several point turn so that we then drove our Toyota Yaris Cross SUV out frontwards. This might be more difficult with a bigger car so check before attempting- there is free parking elsewhere in Amble. Apart from this the cottage was lovely and we enjoyed our holiday there and plan to return.

Thank you for your feedback and I am very pleased you enjoyed your stay in The Old Smithy and Amble. I hope you can visit again. Property Owner

The courtyard is only really suitable for a smallish car and you are best off reversing in. Would definitely book the old smithy again.

It was good fun reversing my large SUV into the courtyard with a couple of inches to spare either side!

  • "We had a very comfortable stay at The Old Smithy."

The accommodation was excellent; it was comfortable, very clean, the welcome pack was a nice touch (biscuits and chocolates and a bottle), the decor was lovely, the bed was really comfy, in fact it was a real home from home with everything we could have needed. The location was perfect for exploring the area and Amble is a superb little town. It was great to have a lovely dog walk to the rear of the house by the harbour. All in all we couldn’t recommend The Old Smithy too highly.

  • "Amazing cottage with more than everything you need - the listing doesn’t do it justice."

Super homely and the owner is so generous providing everything you need. Fully secure garden for the dogs (which is hard to find!) and they are just as welcome as humans with all the extra touches. Lovely welcome pack thank you and we would definitely return if in the area. Brilliantly located and we had no issues with a Kia Sportage using the parking through the tunnel. Amble is lovely and lots of amenities on your doorstep. Gorgeous views out the back of the cottage and we caught some stunning sunsets. Brilliant walks for the dogs and amazing coastline. Fab holiday - thank you

Great location in Amble. Parked up on arrival day and didn't need to use the car until coming home a week later. Lots of walks and bike rides from the doorstep. Bus service also excellent. We even caught train to Berwick one day which was only 20 mins away. Cannot wait to return.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. So pleased you loved the cottage and had a great stay. Excellent tip about the buses and trains and hope you can return in the future. Property Owner

  • "What a hidden gem!"

The Smithy is a beautiful home cosily hidden away but also right in the centre of Amble. The views out to the marina at the back are lovely and the courtyard was a real bonus on the sunny days. Sitting there enjoying a drink you wouldn't think you were in the town centre. The house was spotless and very comfortable. The facilities were amazing with games consoles and Google home to entertain us in the evenings. Our daughter made good use of all the children's games available. Although we didn't use it there is also a pass giving access to a gym and pool in the town. The kitchen was full equipped and we had everything we needed. We had a fantastic week and should we return to Amble we'd love to stay again.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. It really does mean a lot when we read you have enjoyed your stay. We would love to welcome you back should you stay in Amble again. Property Owner

There is a risk of damaging your car if you try to get it on the drive. There are restrictions on Queens Street which are 1 hour with no returns for 1 hour between 0900hrs and 1700hrs Monday to Saturday for information.

Thank you for your feedback and glad you found The Old Smithy to be fabulous. We have updated our guidance with further parking options, however the courtyard is available for guests who do feel comfortable driving into the courtyard.
