  • "Great place to stay, that view is amazing"

  • "First of all we had a lovely stay."

House was clean and tidy and a good base to go off exploring. It wasn’t without minor niggles though. Unfortunately the pint of milk in the fridge was off, and we were only provided with 1 toilet roll (had to buy more). The parking was troublesome at times. Other than that all was good.

  • "Bearing in mind we are dog owners, we arrived to find a trodden dog poo behind the garden gate, which is the route to the bin!"

! Not pleasant. The Cottage smelt of dog, which even as dog owners we found offensive. There was also a cracked wine glass in the cupboard. The view of the castle is impressive, however the large wooden power pylon less so. Would I rush back - no

We always appreciate feedback, good or bad, however it needs to to accurate. Regarding the dog poo behind the gate, it is in fact the remains of a spillage of roofing resin when work was carried out on the flat roof. Attempts have been made to clean it up but some still remains embedded in the path. We are surprised you noticed a smell of dog as there were no dogs in the property for the previous fortnight. At least you found the the view of the castle impressive and as for the wooden electric pylon situated in the field, there is nothing we can do about it. Regards, Ian & Marian. Property Owner

We were last there in 2015 and appreciated all the work done to the property especially the kitchen/main living area. Well done.

Lovely to have a welcome pack on arrival. In a superb location with parking which is always a bonus in Bamburgh. Will definitely be booking the cottage again.

  • "The house was very nicely decorated and comfortable."

The renovation has transformed the property. However rather than wine and chocolates in the welcome pack a pint of milk and dishwasher tablets would be more useful There was no information on how to use the fire or how to put the bathroom radiator on. It was difficult to dry towels after showering.

  • "We had an amazing week!"

The cottage is well kitted out. The location is superb. To make it even better would suggest:- 1) move the garden gate towards the front so you can get straight into the garden from the back door, also safe then to leave back door open and dogs wander about. 2) a bigger airer for drying clothes / towels etc indoors 3) washing line outside.

  • "Lovely cottage in a great location in the village of Bamburgh."

Well appointed, clean and comfortable. Handy for pubs, restaurants and shops and a good location for exploring the area. Parking is a bonus but is a bit tricky as you have to reverse into the space down a short cul-de-sac, but OK once you've got the hang of it.

  • "This is a lovely little property, very convenient for everything in Bamburgh."

Very clean and well cared fo but just a couple of suggestions... The property would benefit from the gate being in front of the door so it could be left open and allow dogs access to the garden. I would also suggest curtains in the main bedroom as it was very light just with the blinds. We had a lovely stay at this cottage and would come again if we were staying in the area.

  • "We've just enjoyed a lovely week away at Castle View."

The cottage was genuinely spotless on arrival - we are very fussy ;-) - and it is obviously well maintained. Plenty of kitchen utensils, pots and pans to use and the heating works well on colder evenings keeping things very cosy. The view of the castle is fantastic due to the clever architectural feature window. The shower worked well and the bathroom was ample for the 2 of us. We would highly recommend this as a Bamburgh bolthole to explore the area from.

  • "The property was as described and a fabulous view which we didn’t tire of."

It was well equipped and the beds and settees very comfortable. Good to have the instructions for the appliances so that could use those properly. The walk in shower was great as my husband has a back problem and climbing into a bath too difficult. It felt as if everything had been carefully planned to make the best use of space and good quality products. We didn’t sit in the garden as we were out and about but had we wanted to it was good to see furniture both front and back garden. A minor niggle was the lack of curtains in the double bedroom as the blinds were insufficient to block light. The welcome pack was a nice touch. It was immaculately clean. The location is ideal for quick access to the beach, Bamburgh and in a quiet cul de sac.

Gorgeous cottage in a great location, compact and well designed. Our week here was sunny but very cold and the cottage was so warm and cosy with all the facilities we needed. Hopefully we’ll be back again soon ❤️

Everything was lovely and clean and fully equipped. The layout was nicely thought out and lovely to sit and look at Bamburgh Castle at meal times. Great for Hal the dog and great position to head to the beach. We parked near the green which wasn’t a problem for us as we could park the car opposite the property to pack and unpack. Loved the decor, v relaxing colour scheme. Beds were comfy. All in all a super compact and comfortable cottage. Thanks for the welcome box.

  • "The property was clean tidy and well maintained."

The view of the castle was spot on and the access from the property at the rear to the village was ideal and the welcome pack was appreciated The only criticism was that the gate into the rear of the property should be on the other side of the door and the parking should be incorporated where the gravel is located immediately in front of the property as although there is a space opposite this is restricted by the user of the space in front and would be a nightmare in the summer months

Comfortable, cosy, and well equipped, the lounge is spacious and has stunning views across fields to the castle itself. That it has a designated on-street parking space is a bonus as parking in Bamburgh is at a premium. It's a bit tight and you have to reverse into it, but once you've got the knack it isn't a problem. Highly recommended and we plan to return.

  • "Lovely comfortable property, very modern and well equipped."

The location is perfect, with views over the castle and farmland. 3 minute walk and you’re in the pub, perfect! Lovely welcome when we got there with a bottle of wine in the fridge and some snacks which is always a nice touch. Plenty of storage for self caterers, big fridge with freezer, plenty of room to hang clothes, washer/dryer, iron/ ironing board, airer, got everything, fully loaded as some might say! We were very impressed. Now for the negatives which I don’t like doing because we had such a lovely visit but I feel other potential visitors might wish to know about. Firstly, there is a parking space but it’s not the easiest of spaces to park in, if you are not confident with parallel parking you may find it a bit tricky, unfortunately the chap who lives at number 18 who’s parking spot is in front feels inclined only to leave you the minimum amount of room, (very neighbourly of him). Another issue we found was that the gate is the wrong side of the back door. It would have been nice to leave the door open without fear of the dogs escaping. Another issue which was rather unpleasant but no fault of the home owners was when we arrived, like most people we open the windows to let fresh air in to the property unpacked then sat outside for a bit with a glass of wine, when we went back inside, the property was full of flies, to the extent that we had to drive into town just to buy some fly spray. We understand that this is no fault of the owners and the property is adjacent to fields with cattle in them. However to all future holidaymakers I would strongly suggest not opening the windows in the second bedroom! All being said we had a great time and would definitely stay at the property again and recommend it to others. I would like to have given it 4 and a half stars but there is no option.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
