"We come to Bamburgh and Seahouses every year, and have stayed in many different cottages."
This was by far the best we have ever stayed it. It was clean, and so well equipped. It had everything you could think of for adults, children and even dogs (treats and dog toys). Amazing stay and would 100% recommend to anyone. The view from the living room of Bamburgh Castle just topped off how gorgeous this cottage is. We can’t wait to return!

"This is our fourth time, and just booked again for summer next year ( we managed to get in )."
It’s comforting to know that when we arrive, you don’t have to worry about anything . We had a wonderful time, upset by one thing parking, we do our best not to upset the residents, one car had a note on the window screen and we had a key down the side of the car, we’re hoping that it was the bin men , can’t imagine people there would do anything like that . Not stopping us coming back, you have a beautiful place, thank you for sharing it with us. Julie and family

"This cottage lacks nothing."
It works and everything is clean and extremely comfortable. Lots of little extras, books, outdoor play toys, blankets, information, and nothing cut back in the kitchen. Lots of plates, bowls, mugs, cutlery & pans. Lovely outlook. Convenient to the local High Street, and lovely restaurants. Absolutely had an amazing stay. Thank you .

"We had an excellent stay and so much better than a year ago ."
The cleaning was now very good and everything we had mentioned had been remedied. When the bathroom is redone at the end of the season it will be perfect. Until then as there is no shaver socket in the bathroom a 3 pin shaver adapter is needed -we did ask Sykes Cottages and they said they would get housekeeping to drop one off but this never happened. In the end we drove to Seahouses to buy one but took it with us.
It is a lovely cottage in a perfect position and hope to return

"Bamburgh is a wonderful holiday destination and Dunford was welcoming, spotless and so very well equipped for a family holiday."
We were a three generation family group, it was absolutely fantastic for the younger generation, the toys, books, and equipment in the shed were magnificent for my grandchildren.
The grandparents (us) were up in the loft bedroom, no bedroom door was an issue and a second bathroom would have made it perfect. To wake up and look through the dormer window was a real treat, daybreak over the farne islands was tremendous.
Thank you for having us in your happy place..

"Our stay was everything we expected and had a lovely family time despite the weather."
The cottage was very comfortable and clean which we were so pleased about, it had everything thing in you’d want and an abundance if cups / mugs lol , an extra bathroom would have made it perfect as with 6 adults it takes a while for everyone to get sorted, its a lovely homely cottage with good decor and amazing views of the castle.
The only set backs we had was the doggie smell in the conservatory it is very strong and on a sunny day i think it could be intense but we had our dog with us and it was the place he slept so can’t say to much on the subject.
A few flies were a but if an issue in kitchen area not sure why as its a bit late in the year for flies but thought we should mention it !
Parking was an issue as we all had cars and the locals were a bit off with us till they knew we had the permits and were staying at the Cottage.
Apart from the few gripes we would definitely book it again it had a lovely feel to it and we were very happy with our welcome packs it makes a nice touch receiving them, thank you.
Willy.

"Dunford cottage has a lovely homely feel & is perfectly located for easy access to the village , beach and excellent golf course."
A few small problems outlined below need addressing . Despite these we would like to return and will be more aware of what we must bring with us to avoid disappointment
The centre light in the main bedroom didn't work and was falling off the ceiling ( we advised Sykes cottages but nothing has been done yet) .
The latch on the front gate had a screw missing and was falling off making it impossible to latch from the alleyway.(screw had fallen out as wood was split )
The one and only toilet roll we were given had just 3 sheets of toilet paper remaining.
There was a welcome box of UHT milk sachets & coffee which we found on the second day in the bin . The bathroom plug holes were full of hair & black gunge and the bathroom tiles had black mould on the grout and need cleaning with mould killer spray .
The pillows in bedroom 2 are lumpy and uncomfortable and need replacing
The shower screen seal seemed to have been replaced and was fine ; it would be useful if Sykes cottage could update the website to record that problems had been fixed as otherwise these maintenance issues can be quite off putting .

"I was a little disappointed as ,having stayed in Mossyard on a number of occasions, and this being advertised as 'sister property', I was anticipating a similar experience."
Unfortunately it was nothing like it. I could cope with the absence of a welcome pack of local produce, but there was a distinct absence of other items which seemed at odds with the standard of accommodation paid for; 1 toilet roll, 1 dishwasher tablet, 1 dish sponge. Really? The bathroom had a wonky toilet seat and, from the smell of damp, the perished seal on the shower screen has caused water to gather somewhere. The kitchen was well appointed, but it seems to have become overwhelmed. How many champagne flutes does one need? Too many glasses and crockery meant there was very little space for food storage. The sliding cupboard used for kitchen equipment was rammed, so getting it to close after you had removed items was a bit of a challenge.
The cleanliness of the cottage could have been better too, as there were cobwebs and dusty lamps, and the area behind the toilet definitely needed attention.
On the plus side it was a cosy cottage, with lovely bedding and throws in a cracking location. We appreciated the games and books, but on the whole, a bit disappointing and definitely over-priced.
Sorry to be unable to be more positive.

"We have stayed at Dunford Cottage more times than I can count, and will come back again."
The location is perfect.
In the last years, the cottage has become less well maintained. It used to be shining clean. Now the carpet is stained and grubby, as are the sofa cushions and covers. If you lift the covers, there is accumulated grime and sand.
The shower seal in the bathroom has gone, so that the floor becomes wet. We joke about 'will they have fixed the toilet seat this time?'- it's not on straight and slips a little.
I would suggest a least a regular deep clean (I know the cottage is heavily booked) shower inspection and resealing of door.
Really, a walk in shower would be far more useful and get rid of that creaky plastic bath.
The kitchen is well equipped with quality china etc. but really cupboard space is wasted with so many duplicate sets.
Since Sykes took over, no longer wine on arrival, butcher's voucher, or feeling of welcome. For the very high cost of staying, washing sponges, J cloths, bathroom and toilet cleaner, adequate number of loo rolls should be a minimum. Keeping the vacuum clean (excellent quality) in an upstairs bedroom cupboard is completely impractical.

"A terrific holiday cottage - three good sized bedrooms."
Outstanding location and views. Lovely five minute walk into Bamburgh. Garden well maintained and children enjoyed playing there. Parking on the street can be difficult if you had more than one car. Lots of toys, games, dvds, books etc in the cottage. The shed had lots of great beach and sports equipment within it. Would highly recommend.
