  • "Very happy with the holiday home."

It was clean and well maintained. The house was bigger than we expected but still warm and comfortable. The only issue we had was parking. There is free roadside parking outside but it was very busy and any space was taken within minutes of becoming free. There is plenty of free parking in the village but again it can be very busy and abit of a walk. I can imagine at peak summer times it could be very difficult to park.

  • "Ideal location, great house for a family holiday."

Some maintenance issues, light bulbs needing replaced and toilet seats needing repaired. We had a 4 hour power cut on the Sunday during our stay, emergency lighting came on briefly. There were no candles and only one torch, we had a 5 year old and a 1 year old with us. Additional emergency lighting is definitely required in the future.

  • "Fantastic property."

Very well appointed with everything required for a great family holiday. Great service as when we arrived the main door was very difficult to open and close but when we reported this a maintenance man came to fix it within the hour, fantastic service, thank you. Will definitely book again next year. So comfortable.

  • "Loved our stay."

Plenty of room for all the family. All the bathrooms are to a high standard. Only one tiny issue. The front door handle was very difficult to turn. I am sure a spray of WD40 will solve it. Thankyou for a great stay.

  • "A spacious house which easily accommodates 10 people plus two dogs."

No garden, just a very tiny space outside the back door with two chairs, parking space not always available outside the house as visitors parked there, but we didn’t find it too much of a problem. Great location, lovely pubs and cafes yards away and an easy walk to the beach

  • "This was our families 2nd stay at Glenander and everyone was looking forward to it."

On entering the lounge the doorknob came off in my hand...not even screwed on. The front doorknob wouldn't turn so we were locked in. My son in law managed to pull the spindle out and reset the doorknob. We had planned various meals each evening but couldn't get the main oven to work, my husband spoke to Haley and the maintenance man fixed it a couple of days later on the Thursday. In spite of the blips we had another memorable holiday and my 3 grandchildren loved being with all the family.

  • "Another fantastic week at Glenander."

The house is absolutely wonderful, clean, comfortable, homely and spacious. Ideally situated for exploring the Northumberland coastline with Bamburgh itself having fantastic pubs and an amazing butchers shop. If we return to Bamburgh, then Glenander would be our first choice.

  • "House amenities were great."

Plenty of space for the number of guests. Even the lounge had correct seating for us all and bonus of large TV. Impressed with bedroom sizes and the modern en-suites. It’s unusual to find plenty of cutlery and crockery, so happy this was considered. Bonus of an espresso machine! We nipped into Seahouses to pick up some family and used the traffic cones in the front garden to try keep the coveted spot… very briefly. One recommendation would be to change the double and “king” to super kings as bedrooms are fabulously large enough and those used to bigger beds would sleep better.

  • "Some repair to the extractor fan above the cooker is needed."

Published bed types were not as expected. we expected at last 3 doubles and did not ask for extra singles. However when we arrived there were 3 sets of twin beds and 2 doubles. we were a group of 6 adults (3 married couples) and 4 teenagers. However we had a really good week in an excellent location. The house was very clean and warm and enjoyed by all. Jan Jones

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Glenander as we have before."

A great house for large family groups with plenty of space ideally placed to enjoy Bamburgh. Only criticism the headboards on the single beds in one of the bedrooms were broken and loose. Other than that I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Bamburgh.

  • "It needs better maintenance, the water damaged ceiling hadn't been painted, the downstairs toilet sink was reported by the previous tenant but wasn't repaired, and the sofa was stained."

The dining table and sofas could only comfortably accommodate 8 people. The patio was tiny and unusable. The house itself was lovely, comfortable, excellent location, but it could have been fabulous.

  • "Lovely spacious house which was well equipped and in a great location."

Two issues; toilet seat very loose in one of the en-suite bathrooms and had to be very careful when using the toilet and unable to use shower in the same bathroom for two days. This was due to a damp patch appearing on the living room ceiling which became bigger every time we used said shower. Rang Agent and a plumber arrived very quickly to rectify the problem.

  • "Beautiful house in a beautiful location."

All rooms were very spacious and lovely decor. 4 out of the 5 bedrooms had en-suites which was great as there was 10 of us staying for the weekend so plenty of room for us all. Kitchen had everything you need and there is a utility room with washer and dryer if needed. A great stay celebrating my 50th birthday with family, would highly recommend a visit! Thank you.

  • "What a beautiful house!"

There was loads of space for the seven of us to celebrate our daughter’s 50th birthday. The only problem during the day was parking but once we got a spot in the evening, the cars were left so we could enjoy the hostelries in the village. We had a great week in Bamburgh, despite the cool weather, and were able to explore the area too on the local bus. Would definitely go back!

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
