  • "We loved our stay at Mistletoe Cottage."

Although small, it is so well designed that it feels spacious and perfect for two. The place was immaculately clean and everything is top of the range. There's a fine view of Bamburgh Castle from the sofa, which tempted me out each morning to see the sunrise. Because the cottage is down a side street, there's little noise and we had no trouble parking further down the road, just past the permit holders' bays. There is only a small amount of outside space, but with the delights of Bamburgh on our doorstep and one of the best beaches in the world 5 minutes walk away, we didn't feel the lack. We can thoroughly recommend Mistletoe Cottage and also the Northumbrian weather. Five days of glorious sunshine at the end of October!

  • "We very much enjoyed our stay at Mistletoe Cottage."

On arrival we found it to be spotlessly clean and exactly as described. It is perfect for a couple - compact without seeming cramped and tastefully decorated. The location is excellent; close to the main street with all its amenities, but very quiet, with no passing traffic. We would definitely want to stay there again on any future trips to Bamburgh.

  • "A wonderful little cottage with a view of the Castle."

It has been very well designed with a second floor lounge and kitchen, downstairs bedroom and shower room. It was clean and very comfortable. A delightful place to stay.

  • "We loved the situation of the property, being in the centre of Bamburgh and just metres from eateries and a short walk to the beach."

To have a view of the castle from the living room area was delightful. The bed was very comfortable, which is always a bonus. While the property was excellent in many ways, there was room for improvement, eg in the bathroom a towel rail next to the washbasin for hand towels would have been more convenient, as would a more user-friendly loo roll holder. Although it was possible to dry bath towels outside in fine weather, when it was less good the switch for the heated towel rail was not obvious and not easily accessible. Overall, however, a very comfortable cottage.

  • "Although modest externally, the cottage was well positioned close to village amenities."

It was very comfortable and well appointed with some lovely homely touches. Cleanliness and standard of accommodation was first class. A wonderful view of the castle was the icing on the cake.

  • "Really enjoyed my stay at Mistletoe Cottage."

The property had everything I could require (with perhaps the exception of a “proper” oven) although this wasn’t a major problem. Considering the proximity of the property to two of Bamburgh’s most popular pubs, I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of noise. All furnishings were very comfortable, particularly the bed (I do like a firm bed and got one here – lovely!). A few more hangers in the wardrobe would have been appreciated, although again, this is a minor grumble, as there was lots of drawer space. Free parking in the village can be problematic, but obviously in a village as popular as Bamburgh you wouldn’t want it spoilt by masses of cars everywhere. If you do manage to secure a spot around “The Middle” (green space in the middle of the village) be aware that if you take your car out for the day you probably won’t get a space back before the evening. There is a pay and display car park beneath the Castle (NOT the Castle car park itself). Back to Mistletoe Cottage itself. It’s perfect base for couples or singles who wish to explore northern Northumberland. It was very clean and tidy had everything I really required, and because the cottage is detached you didn’t get disturbed by much in the way of noise. I loved Bamburgh, where everything is just a stones throw away. The beaches are stunning, the Castle, magnificent (can be seen quite clearly from the cottage) and I was very sorry that I had to leave at the end of my holiday.

  • "A beautifully converted cottage containing everything you need."

Even though it says there is no oven the microwave at the cottage is one that is an oven, grill and microwave so you can cook simple meals during your stay. The cottage was beautifully maintained and in a quiet area. We managed to park next to the village green but it was off season so there were plenty of spaces available. The cottage is about 5 minutes walk from the castle and the beach and the village has a selection of pubs, eateries and a traditional butcher should you require it. Would highly recommend the cottage to anyone wishing the visit the area

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
