  • "Lovely cottage in beautiful village."

Margaret was very helpful. Very easy to get to the main attractions. Also near Alnmouth station for regular fast trains to Edinburgh

Everything you need for a holiday is there. What a fantastic location too.

  • "First time we have rented a holiday property so a little apprehensive but have got to say we were very impressed."

Clara's Cottage was lovely with plenty of space as well as having a good kitchen, very clean and comfortable. We were given groceries as well as a superb lemon drizzle cake which we all enjoyed. Margaret, the caretaker, was very helpful when we needed assistance (one of us had switched off the hot water!). All in all, a great place to stay and lovely clean beaches close by.

  • "This cottage was very well suited to our needs - a great location in an attractive village, easy parking, spacious, well equipped, comfortable."

The owner was close by and was very welcoming. I think the promise of an outside patio is completely misleading - this is, in fact a tiny yard, totally hemmed in with no room to swing a cat. Better to omit it! Unfortunately the plumbing is badly designed and relies on pumps. One of these failed on us with unfortunate results. But the owner did all she scould to get it repaired. We would certainly recommend it to friends.

  • "Lovely cottage in a central, ideal location."

The cottage was exactly as the description and was spacious, clean, tidy and well appointed. Perfect in fact. Warkworth is a lovely village in the beautiful county of Northumberland. We have been here many times and will no doubt be returning many times. There are so many things to see; for the first time if you have not been before, or for the umpteenth time in our case. We don't tire of them.

Delightful old house, have combined old and modern aspects extremely well, central heating radiator in the main bedroom doesn’t heat up much, maybe the system needs some attention however the towel heater in the en suite toilet is fantastic, there is a gas fire in the sitting room unfortunately we couldn’t find any information on how to operate it, overall it’s a fantastic house at a very reasonable price

It was stunningly decorated with 2 christmas trees, beautiful baubles and other decorations. Everything we needed was there, including a generous welcome pack (Thank you). We found it very comfortable, lovely comfy sofas and beds, all very relaxing. Also very handy for visits to Alnwick, Seahouses and surrounding area. Hope to come back sometime..

Welcome pack was good (and included a very nice lemon drizzle cake). Village is lovely and the river, ancient church and castle are just a stone’s throw away. Beach is a short walk and offers miles of empty golden sand without the crowds you see elsewhere.Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

  • "The property was spotless on arrival and looked just like the photos."

Bedrooms were really nice with lots of storage space and a bathroom each. The cottage overall was very comfortable and had everything you would need. Margaret the owner was lovely and had left us a bottle of prosecco, cake and box of chocolates as a welcome gift. The cottage was in a great location in Warkworth and the Masons Arms is worth a visit for the food. We went twice. We had a great time and would highly recommend this property.

The property

A quaint stone cottage ideal for a group of adults, Clara’s Cottage rests in the picturesque town of Warkworth, Northumberland, and is close to local amenities.

After a long journey, make your way into the sitting room, where wooden roofbeams and a bare brick fireplace emphasise the history of the property, built in 1827, and you can warm your feet beside the woodburning stove and enjoy a good book.

The kitchen has plenty of amenities and is bright and airy, a great place for guests to cook together, and you can enjoy your meal either in the charming dining room beside a second traditional brick fireplace and woodburning stove, or outside in the warmer months on the patio furniture.

Upstairs, three tasteful bedrooms, each with their own handy en-suite, offer a space to cosy up for the night, including a beautiful king-size with a desk and quirky wallpaper, a double with fitted wardrobes and a single with storage.

Warkworth is a fantastic location, steeped in history and heritage, so why not pay the local castle a visit and learn more about the town and surrounding area?

Warkworth has a beautiful sandy beach, where you can enjoy a stroll in the salty air or even try out watersports, and is within easy reach of other walks, such as Hauxley Nature Reserve.

Enjoy a hot meal in the local eateries or head over to the harbour town of Amble, where there are more eateries, walks and a little further away you will find the wonderful Northumberland Country Zoo.

Enjoy a historic getaway with a stay at Clara’s Cottage.

About the location

WARKWORTH

Alnwick 5 miles; Alnmouth 3 miles; Amble 1 mile.

Lying in the loop of the River Coquet on the Heritage Coast, Warkworth is a picturesque village, dominated by the dramatic ruins of its 12th century castle. The history of the village and the castle are intertwined with the Percy Family who took over the castle in 1332. The Percys’ other home is nearby Alnwick Castle, most recently associated with Harry Potter as the film location of Hogwarts School. The main street is lined with Georgian and early Victorian houses and there is an exceptional range of galleries, antiques shops, a village shop/Post Office, pubs, restaurants and gift shops to suit all tastes. Warkworth has its own stretch of sandy beach and a 9 hole pay and play golf course. Also within easy touring distance are Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands, several wonderful beaches and Alnwick Garden with its remarkable water cascade and Tree House Restaurant.
