  • "We had a pleasant stay for a few days ."

It is a very nice area with plenty of places nearby to visit and the park is small and quiet. The welcome gifts of prosecco , chocolate and crisps were much appreciated, a nice touch . Unfortunately I was quite unwell so we had to stay onsite longer than anticipated each day .We did have a few issues but we contacted the owner Chris and they were dealt with quickly and efficiently. eg a broken shower and chipped crockery and no kitchen bin was provided and also struggled to initially find the place ( the directions on Sykes site are less than useless ) but Chris kindly talked through directions for us so we got there ok in end . Just as a side note I think the property could benefit from maybe a teapot , some egg cups and more ovenware, not essential but would be useful . The utensils could be checked as well as there was a melted spatula . However the site itself had issues. The little shop/ tavern on the site did not open at all from the day we arrived and had a sign saying it would re open the day we left ( dues to unforseen circumstances ) . The electricity was off from 9am until 5pm one of the days due to electricity works nearby but we had no prior notice of this happening . Again the following morning for another 2 hours . Just small things but all add up when a person has paid good money for a holiday . I wouldn't want this to be perceived as a "bad" review just informative . It is certainly an accessible place to visit all the surrounding attractions of which there are many . Also as previous mentioned the caravan owner was very obliging the instant we had requests.

  • "The directions were absolutely rubbish."

It took us several hours, stopping to ask directions in Morpeth, Felton and several other places. At Felton we were advised to to to Brockbank Holiday park, which we had already passed, twice, after the airfield and crematorium. At the onsite Tavern we were told all the street names are in Alnwick. Luckily we remembered the phone number who guided us to our cabin only 200yds further in the camp. Otherwise we would have had a wasted trip all the way to Alnwick. Apart from that the cabin itself was excellent and ideal for our weekend break.

The caravan was very comfortable, and everything was lovely and clean.I hope that i have left it clean for the next people. The site is good for families with young children as there is a good play area. There is just one complaint that we have about the actual site,as there isnt a decent shop on the site where you can buy every essentials eg.groceries and newspapers .That is the only complaint.

  • "Bedding on arrival was still damp on all beds There is raw sewage right next to the lodge which is coming from a channel dug into the hillside."

It was so bad we never sat outside and could not open windows at night. The beds were the most uncomfortable beds I think I have slept on in a long time. The site itself is great but I don't think we would use this particular lodge again I'm afraid.

Dear jessica. Thank you for your feedback. Let me first apologies if the issues you have raised adversely affected your stay at Willowburn. Although this is the responsibility of the site management and beyond my control I have taken you comments to the site property manager and site cleaning company and they have informed me of their intention to rectify the problems. In terms of the beds, as I hope you can appreciate comfort is very much a personal matter and yours is the first comment we have received concerning this issue however we will monitor this closely and take any remedial action. Kind Regards Chris Property Owner

  • "After a very satisfying stay there we’re a few minor thing I would like to point out."

1 the shower in the bathroom falls apart when moving the shower head. 2 the extract fan in the bathroom did not work, neither did the cooker hood ,although the light worked. 3 the fridge freezer give a vibration sound which is annoying in the night. 4 the bushes rub against the side of the lodge when it’s windy , again annoying in the night.

Dear Gordon, Thank you for your comments, just to say that the issues you identified have now been addressed and all in good working order and the trees have all been cut back. Property Owner

  • "Excellently property and really comfy."

Ideal location for exploring Northumberland. The property had everything we needed, including Netflix for my teenage daughter, and was set back from the playground and small pub so was really quiet. The beds were really comfy too which was great. The added use of the Crazy Horse Saloon in the neighbouring park was an awesome bonus. We didn't eat there but the food looked great and had weekly entertainment. I would highly recommend this property to anyone interested in staying in Northumberland, especially those wishing to visit Alnwick or Morpeth and surrounding costal areas. Next time we visit this part of the country we will definitely look at the availability here.

  • "We enjoyed our stay in Northumberland."

Willowburn was a pleasant caravan on a very quiet site. The caravan was spotlessly clean when we arrived and in good condition. Nice welcome gifts on arrival too. The property does require some updating. The double bed in particular was very uncomfortable and the mattress slopes to each side. The sofa was also a bit tired. No pods provided for the coffee machine so bring your own! Internet is poor and cut out several times. There is a great park on site. The site over the bridge has the Crazy Horse Saloon which was good. The main issue with this site is the smell. Particularly at night there is a very strong sewage smell right outside the caravan so we didn’t open windows or doors. The site is located well on the A1 and is a great base to explore Northumberland. Our favourite was Alnmouth but we also visited Bamburgh, Embleton, Low Newton, Craster, Amble, Alnwick, Druridge Bay and Warkworth. Overall it was great value for money.
