  • "A really lovely property in a great location in Seahouses."

Really liked the “upside down” living space. It was a beautiful room. House was spotless, beds comfy and it was really comfortable.

  • "Fantastic property, very well equipped with everything you needed for your stay."

Great location to beach/harbour/town centre & great pubs on corner. Everyone was very welcoming. Indian brasserie was incredible in the wee town . Parking wasn't really a issue as wheelie bins secured space outside. .. Would highly recommend it and we would stay again.

  • "This is a gorgeous property and is finished to a high standard ."

It was close to all amenities and we had a wonderful stay and would definately stay again. There were a couple of things that as an owner I would like to know to keep on top of keeping high standards and may want to bring up with the cleaning company. Alot of the ledges and sides were quite dusty .The shower room in upstairs bedroom will need attention to combat the mould that has begun to start to grow and downstairs taps in bathroom need attention . The key safe was really tricky to get the key back in as there either needs a smaller keyring or a hook to hang the key it took lots of attempts to get it back in .None of these things impacted our stay we had an amazing time and the property was topnotch

Thank you so much for your kind review. We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay at Juniper and Seahouses. We want guests to feel at home and appreciate feedback on things that are not quite up to scratch. I will ask our management company to rectify the issues highlighted. • "We loved the cottage and I’ve already recommended it to a friend!"

Our 3 daughters occupied the downstairs bedrooms whilst my husband and I had the en-suite. It was so handy having 2 bathrooms. The cottage was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed. It had such a nice feel about it and we loved it as soon as we walked in. There was only one small issue which in no way spoilt or overshadowed our stay but there were 2 drops of blood on the bottom sheet on the bed in the en-suite room and a smudging of blood on two of the 4 pillows. It had not come from my husband or myself. I do think it’s worth mentioning as it was a little off-putting. The welcome pack was a lovely idea. The parking was never an issue as in some reviews. We left the bins out to secure a spot and it was always available on our return. We put the radiators on in the morning and it quickly became ‘toastie’ for us having our breakfast. An enjoyable stay. Seahouses is a gray central base from which to explore this lovely county.

Thank you for your lovely review! We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for bringing the stained bedding to our attention - I will report it to the management company and cleaners in the hope that it doesn’t happen again. We want all guests to feel comfortable and at home at Juniper and aplogise that the bedding was not up to standard. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is in a great location for beaches and castles."

Well situated within the town. The picture of the downstairs room is misleading as you would never sit at the side of such a dusty, busy street. The place was not clean, the grill pan was full of fat , the tiles around the extractor fan in downstairs bathroom had dirt and dust , all skirting boards had a thick layer of dust. The outside bins were both full so we were using the bins in town. The bin in the kitchen was useless for a cottage that sleeps six. The large frying pan was concave underneath so therefore didn’t work on an induction hob. A list of what exactly was provided would be useful - 1 toilet roll per bathroom is stingy, as was 3 dishwashers tablets. When we paid £1500 we expected better standards.

Dear Sara, thank you for your review. I’m sorry your stay was not as pleasant as it could have been. Cleaning standards are usually high at the cottage so I have asked Sykes/NCCC to follow up with the cleaner. The management company provide essentials such as toilet rolls and cleaning items to get you settled but not enough for your whole stay. I’m sorry about the bins - the council alternate rubbish and recycling collection so I’m not sure why both were full. As for sitting outside, the street is pretty quiet after Swallow Fish closes and we have often put the table up in the boot room entrance to enjoy a bbq or drinks. Kind regards, Manjit and Philip Property Owner

  • "A very well appointed and beautifully presented property in an ideal location wanting for nothing other than the provision of an additional key which would have made early morning/ late evening dog walking less problematic (if all in bed, does dog walker lock them in or leave property insecure) Seemed like a respectable area so took chance with insecurity without issue) Utilised wheelie bins to ensure parking for two cars throughout, without incident."

    Would highly recommend

    Reviewed by Amber5.0May 2024

  • "The property is in a good location for the harbour and local amenities, has a well appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, and an excellent welcome pack."

It is warm and well insulated throughout, and would be very suitable for Autumn or Winter breaks. It is rather dark downstairs, but light and airy once on the first floor. The main drawback is the lack of a clearly designated parking space. Though there is a complementary parking permit for the pay-and-display car parks provided (which is an excellent idea), it does not fully compensate for the parking issues at the property itself. We found this to be quite a problem - ironically enough, as we don't have our own transport. Friends who helped with the transport to and from Seahouses had problems parking when packing and unpacking, as the area suggested was either occupied or being unofficially reserved by other drivers who thought the space was available. We found the house bins were being used to reserve a space when we were out. We feel that a designated parking space should really be a given with a property like this. Otherwise, the lack or a basic radio was a miss, and we'd like to note that the unsafe chair leg - mentioned in previous reviews - had still not been attended to. However, if the parking issues are not a problem for you, this property is in an excellent location.

  • "The cottage was well equipped and very well located."

One odd thing was that the blue armchair near the window still had a wobbly leg and so was unusable. It didn't bother us as we were only 2 people but this had been noted in an older review and should be sorted. We felt there were quite high expectations of guests on leaving the cottage but overall we had a super time. The parking worked fine for us but we were lucky the chap at the Smokehouse had put cones out on our arrival as the bank holiday weekend was v busy.

The boot room was a welcome addition for drying off our dog after being out walking and for storing our jackets and outdoor shoes etc. This ensured the rest of the cottage was free from any clutter. Super amenities. Good location, with a short walk into Seahouses and a perfect base for exploring the local area. Would stay here again.

It is a house for 6 and whilst it does have 1 en-suite and 1 other bathroom, it would be great to have a spare loo when 3 sets of couples are staying. The quality of the bedding was not the usual standard we have had with other Sykes properties.

  • "Considering it was a Christmas stay, it proved very difficult to gain confirmation from the owners, that a Christmas tree would be in the property."

Once this had been confirmed, 2 weeks before our stay, the actual tree was basic with battery lights which did not work. We found this very disappointing. Having arrived with frozen food for Christmas, I spent 45 minutes defrosting the freezer so that we could access the freezer compartments (a photo can be provided for confirmation). Other than these observations, we found the cottage to be well equipped, comfortable and clean. Great location and we appreciated the Welcome Pack and overall had a very enjoyable stay.

On arrival, the accommodation was warm and inviting. The cottage was clean and comfortable and well equipped. We were provided with a welcome pack, made up of thoughtful provisions. Juniper is situated in the old town, a stone's throw from the harbour and directly opposite the delightful fisherman's kitchen. There was available parking for one car on our street, which was perfect for us, the kind gentleman from the fishermans kitchen made sure our spot was free on arrival, which was great when unloading luggage. I would highly recommend a stay and would not hesitate to book again in the future.

Someone else seems to be using the general wheelie bin. It was overfull when we arrived and half filled very soon after the bin men emptied it! Also the arm chair near the window has a very loose front leg that we noticed when we arrived. We just didn’t use it at all.

  • "The washbasin in the downstairs bedroom is cracked."

Blue upholstered chair in the main room has bent leg and could not be used. Fire Extinguishers are useless! They have not been maintained and have no pressure and would not operate in an emergency. This would be dangerous and delay the evacuation of guests who falsely believed they could fight the fire! Some chipped cups and not full sets of glasses and crockery. Carpets are stained and the stairs smelled of dogs. Overall we would consider a return if these elements were remedied

Cleanliness of the whole place could have been better . On top of wardrobes so much dust .Kitchen cupboards still crumbs in and kitchen drawer. I don’t think cleaners have enough time . I think it needs a super clean every few weeks not just top show . I was extremely impressed with all the cleaning products you left us beautiful clean tea towels aswell. The best we have had and we have been coming to Northumberland for 29 years . Love it . I would recommend Juniper. Definitely would stay again. It had everything you could want and more. It was right in the heart of Sea-houses. Parking is on street opposite cottage next to the famous smokehouse. Please note the road is a private with a lots of potholes so take care. It really does need resurfacing. We had a dog so it was nice to have a boot room. Dogs are welcome and you could take them in all the pubs which are close by to the cottage. When you step out of the cottage down street is the sea with a lovely costal walk to the right where you can walk your dog . Turn left and you have the harbour. So many places to visit nearby highly recommend Sea-houses and Juniper cottage .

Such a spacious house and what a bonus having the handy boot room. We would love to come again.
