  • "A beautiful cottage in a convenient location for the many attractions in the locality."

The owners provided a very thoughtful welcome gift of wine and biscuits for our stay. A spacious lounge and kitchen for the size of the property. The provision of an en suite for the main bedroom as well as the bathroom for the other bedroom is a real bonus.

Thanks so much for the wonderful review. Glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back soon! Property Owner

  • "The property is well located to explore Northumberland."

The kitchen is well equipped and lounge comfortable to sit at the end of the day. There were 4 of us at the property and whilst the master bedroom and bathroom is very nice, the other bedroom with the twin beds is rather small and there is little space for luggage. We had our case on the chair with most of its content left inside as the wardrobe drawer was already full with possibly bedding. There is only one bedside cabinet shared by the two occupants, so I had to put reading glasses, water, jewellery on the floor..Also the single bedside light did not provide enough light for both occupants to read. Outside the property there are two loose paving stones, which are a trip hazard..

Thank you for your feedback, glad to hear you enjoyed your holiday at Hemmel Cottage. We're always happy to receive constructive feedback and will be making some changes to the twin room to improve storage and changing the bedside lights. Thanks again for your booking. Property Owner

  • "Great cottage in a peaceful location."

Ideal for visiting inland Northumberland, coast and also Scottish Borders. Cottage had everything we needed. It was a good size for two is us and would be fine for two adults and two children but think it would be a bit tight for 4 adults. Living room has two comfy sofas and the kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The bedrooms are both a good size with plenty of storage. The master bedroom is quite dark, due to there only being 1 small window. However, the lack of natural light was compensated for by the fact there is plenty of lights/lamps in the room! The en-suite bathroom would benefit from some more storage, other than a narrow glass shelf above the toilet there was nowhere to put toiletries and the same applies in the shower, which was big enough to have a shelf or shower tidy installed. The shower was one of the best I’ve used in a holiday cottage for both power and hot water! The cottage is in a little complex and was very quiet and the garden, although smaller than it looked on the photos, was an advantage and was quite private. We used the local pub, the Percy Arms for drinks and food and would definitely recommend for a meal! Overall a great cottage in a good location. Would definitely recommend.

Thank you for your feedback and glad to hear you enjoyed your holiday at Hemmel Cottage. We're always happy to receive constructive feedback and will be adding storage to the en suite bathroom. Glad you liked the shower! The Percy Arms is a great pub, lovely food and very convenient, good to hear you enjoyed it. Many thanks for your booking and we look forward to welcoming you back soon! Everything about the cottage spoke of the owners attention to detail. Chatton village itself was wonderfully quiet, yet had the Percy Arms pub for breakfasts, dinner and drinks. And there was even a quaint post office and village shop. As for the cottage, it was great to have 2 parking spaces right next to the cottage. The cottage garden was very private. Would have been useful to have logs for the wood burner or access (key) to the shed for the outdoor cushions (the comfortable wicker furniture not available during our stay) . Just minor points since most days were out cycling, walking or sightseeing. The power cut on Saturday 30th April 8am did not affect us since it was our leaving day. May be useful to provide guidance on response for future guests - locals had indicated this has occurred in the past. Overall great accommodation and local facilities such as the Percy arms

Hi, we are really glad you had such a good time at Hemmel Cottage and enjoyed the great local facilities Apologies for the garden furniture, unfortunately it was severely damaged in Storm Arwen and we have replaced it with a temporary set. You should have had access to the shed for the cushions, but apologies if the key was not available, this will be rectified. Power cuts in the area are a rare occurrence and other than Storm Arwen have been very short, but we take your comments on board. Kind regards Property Owner
