  • "We felt trapped in the cottage with our two dogs."

The courtyard was secure but had two endlessly barking schnauzer dogs at a window whenever anyone appeared in the yard never mind letting our dogs out for a wander. The pictures suggested a grass area adjacent to the cottage which looked ideal. The sheep in the adjacent field were fine but the free range poultry sometimes in that area clearly precluded us from going there with the dogs. We just wanted somewhere to pop the dogs for a few minutes, a busy immediately adjacent road made made any walk more of an ordeal. We left after one night. Bill

We are sorry you felt “trapped” in our two acres of land. Great you approved of the sheep. We like them, as do most of our guests. They are limited to one paddock and, if you hadn’t rushed off a few hours early, you’d have found several secure, private areas to exercise your dogs. We live in the middle of the countryside. Cross the road and there are walks everywhere. Be brave! Although I appreciate some might see crossing a road as a challenge. We welcome guests with dogs. Sometimes dogs bark. We hope you enjoyed the free range eggs we left for you. And the wine. And the biscuits. And the fresh flowers. Property Owner

  • "Good location for our needs."

Short walk to good Pub. Good basic property. Wifi/internet poor - connection to router kept disconnecting. Would benefit from mop and bucket to keep floor clean and a door mat. A bit more local information would help, particularly for dog walks. Could never get hot water at kitchen sink.

As stated on the cottage booking information, this is a rural location without fibre. We have two routers but - as clearly stated - Wi-Fi can not always be guaranteed. Having said that, most people don’t seem to have a problem getting connection. It’s in the middle of the countryside - we walk where we want. Property Owner

  • "I loved the attention to detail which made the stay really comfortable, e."

    G. deep bath with good surround for your glass of wine, well lit mirrors with great lighting, etc. The rooms are bright and beautifully finished with lovely original detail, it was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The yard was really secure fr the dog which made life a lot easier. Hosts were helpful and friendly. It's in a great spot for walks, beaches, Lindisfarne and Berwick, and with a pub just along the road, also very friendly and with good food. We had a lovely, comfortable, relaxing break at Bakers Cottage.Would definitely return!
