  • "The owner met us on arrival, showed us around , gave us a wonderful introduction to the property."

We had booked the stay as somewhere to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary with family and it was the perfect place. The only niggle - and not in anyway the fault of Mrs Craster , the owner, - was that on arrival we were charge £20 for each of the two dogs and nowhere in the description or the breakdown of the fee we had paid. Surely this should be mentioned in the info?

  • "This was an amazing experience!"

The Castle with its amazing building authentic furniture took you back in time ! The grand piano and the open fire were another addition to the grandeur and cosey- ness of this amazing place. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and Mrs Craster took us in a tour to explore the beauty of this place. Thank you for your hospitality!!

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed the spacious and well equipped "castle", as my granddaughter labelled it."

Michael and Fiona had supplied a number of extras which the children loved and benefitted from - toys, steps, toddler toilet seat, buckets, spades, nets, slide and trampoline to name but a few. The configuration of the property allowed 3 families to be together and still have their own space when needed. Thank you so much to Michael and Fiona, whose attention before and during our holiday was reassuring but unobtrusive. All in all it was perfect!

  • "Fiona & Michael were extremely welcoming."

Craster Tower Penthouse had all the magic for our Grandaughter & family of staying in a ‘castle’ but also with the additional feeling of home from home. Very spacious & well equipped including lots of extras. The buckets & spades gave us loads of pleasure on the beach even in February & the trampoline was a great hit. Very dog-friendly too. Just lovely. Would highly recommend. Was a very special stay for all the family.

About the location

CRASTER

Alnwick 7 miles; Embleton 3 miles.

A picturesque village that seems to tumble into the sea, Craster was an important fishing harbour in the 17th century and is still famous for its oak cured kippers which have graced the best breakfast tables for more than 150 years. The village offers a pub serving food, a fish restaurant and Robson's famous fish shop. There is also an excellent children's playground. Nearby are some of Northumberland's finest sandy beaches. Just south of Craster is Howick Hall, which was built in 1782 and has associations with the Grey family, including Earl Grey the great social reformer and tea enthusiast. The gardens at Howick Hall are open to the public during the spring and summer and are especially worth a visit during the rhododendron season. A walk along the coastal footpath to the north of Craster brings you to the dramatic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland.
