  • "Given wrong information to enter the property."

Blinds would be good in the sun room at the back as it got very hot and unusable when the sun was out. The property had a well equipped kitchen and plenty of blankets, pillows etc. We enjoyed our stay and the views were amazing.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Rose cottage, it was well equipped for us but probably more adults would struggle for china and glasses etc."

It is in a lovely spot and very peaceful. just one point it should perhaps be pointed out that the garden isn't totally secure for dogs, if left unattended. Also it should be noted that the access road to the side is used by farm vehicles and people from the other cottage. We would definitely visit again.

A beautiful cottage with everything you need in a stunning location. Friendly owner nearby with lovely grounds which he allowed us to walk in. Local historical landmarks. And the beautiful Northumberland countryside. One of the best places we have stayed.

  • "This is a lovely cottage!"

It is well situated in Elsdon, which is a nice little village that is very friendly and has a decent pub and tea room and it provides an excellent base for exploring Northumberland. The cottage is well thought-out and well-equipped, it is very cosy (but not small) and it has excellent views from both the front and back. Very quiet, very relaxing, and good dark skies for stargazing. I would definitely recommend this cottage!

  • "This pretty cottage in the heart of the village of Elsdon is an absolute gem."

We were lucky enough to be the first to stay in it since it was refurbished and it has been done to an exceptionally high standard. Everything you could want is on hand from tupperware for picnics to an electric blanket for chilly nights. The property is clean and spacious with stunning views over the Northumberland countryside and in the national park so thousands of stars on a clear night. There is a village pub open four nights a week with its' own micro brewery and the village also offers some interesting history including the remains of the best preserved Motte-and-bailey castle in Northumberland. The cottage owners are a delight and we would love to stay here again as it is brilliantly located and well appointed. In fact, nicer than our actual home!

The sitting room offers a beautiful introduction to the property with a comfy seating area arranged around an original range fire with breath-taking views providing a stunning backdrop.

The spacious kitchen/diner is fully fitted with all that is required to make sure your guests don’t go hungry and when it’s time to serve up guests can step into the stunning dining area where you will find exposed ceiling beams and enormous feature windows, offering more glimpses of the simply sublime countryside views.

French doors open onto the attractive gardens at the rear of the property where there are lawns and a patio area which are just perfect for the children to run around in and for the adults to chill out in.

All that fresh country air will no doubt have tired everyone out so when it’s time for bed, guests can make their way to either the elegant double or the cool bunk bedroom which has a double bed on the bottom and a single on the top, so whatever combination of guests in the holiday party there will be a bed to suit.

In the morning, it doesn’t get much better than waking up to the sound of birds singing and the trees swaying in the Northumberland breeze, so getting out and about is a must.

The property is set in the heart of the stunning Cheviots, on the edge of the Northumberland National Park and boasts beautiful fells, rolling moorland and woodlands.

The area is steeped in history, and has numerous listed sites within the Parish, dominated by the fortified Pele Tower.

The village of Elsdon has been described as the perfect Northumbrian village, with an ancient parish church, an extensive village green and the remains of a Motte and Bailey Castle, as well as the famous gibbet at the summit of Gallow Hill, with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside.

There is a good range of shops in the small but attractive market town of Rothbury which is within easy driving distance, and with the National Cycle Route (No 68) running close by, this is spectacular walking and cycling country.
