  • "There was no hot water for the majority of our stay."

The caretaker told us that the owners were aware that the property was in need of a new boiler. The cleanliness of the property was not has it should have been. There was only one window that could be opened upstairs as a fir escape but it was painted shut. I have completed the feedback forms and sent them off on the Web site ,and attached photos

  • "The Reformed Church is a lovely property, with a massive open plan kitchen / living room - perfect for families."

The beds are very comfortable, the lack of curtains or blinds in the two smaller bedrooms meant the teenagers where up earlier than usual - maybe a choice of quilt would be nice (Summer/Winter) but that’s being picky. We did have a problem with the boiler but we called the agent and he came round straightaway and arranged for an engineer to fix it - very straightforward and didn’t impact our stay. The only downside was there was no shower, but the bath and shower head worked very well. The location is fabulous - a 15 minute walk to the beach - close to many sites and castles by car, you can walk to Dunstanburgh Castle easily along the Coastal Path. Highly recommend the house and area.

  • "Great location."

Reasonable facilities ( bath let it down), very comfy bed. The negatives are: 1. Duvet and pillows had feathers, so no good for one of our group with an allergy. We had to pay £20 to borrow a duvet and pillow from the local hotel. 2. Top of fridge was dirty, old cobwebs around the place, some pots had food stuck to them, floor was dirty. 3. We found shards of broken glass in the rug. Fortunately, no one was injured. 4. Bath was very slow to fill. The shower handset was useless. Could really do with more water pressure!!! Using the bath became a timetabled rota. Disappointed!!! 5. One of the shelves behind the sofa was wobbly/loose.

About the location

EMBLETON

Craster 3 miles; Beadnell 4 miles; Alnwick 7 miles.

The pretty village of Embleton is ideally placed for exploring one of the most attractive stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. A beautiful grassy path runs from the village to neighbouring Craster, alongside the sea and past Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland. Embleton itself has a village pub and a local hotel, and there is an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick. The gardens at nearby Howick Hall are open during the summer and are noted for their beauty, whilst Alnwick Castle and Garden are a 'must-see' when visiting the area. For the keen golfer, Dunstanburgh Links Course is about 1 mile away - just one of several excellent courses in the vicinity.
