  • "The lodge was lovely and in nice surroundings."

There was a few maintenance issues around the lodge though that need attending to. The kitchen tap leaked very badly. The double bed matress was absolutely terrible. Very uncomfortable and needs replacing. Cooker hood did not work. Three of the corner jets in hot tub did not work. Bulbs out in kitchen and lounge. The worst thing was on the last night the people in the lodge next door decided to play rave music until 11 at night really loudly and were very noisy in the hot tub which disturbed the peacefulness we were there for. Also no heating was left on for us so upon arrival it was absolutely freezing in the lodge. If all of this was attended to it would be really lovely .

Hi Allison, We met on your second last day and discussed the issues you have highlighted. We have come to the end of a very busy season and we expect maintenance issues. We are now.coming into a quiet period which will give us space to attend to all of these issues. Thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "It was nice for John to meet us."

Had a lovely relaxing time, fab position, pub on site with food (not massive menu) but ok and staff very helpful. Lodge could do with some minor tlc - filter on hot tube needs good clean, lever on hot tub broken. However had a wonderful break, loved the ducks, swans and there cygnets coming up.

  • "Wonderfully peaceful location, we hardly saw a soul during our 4 days there other than fellow dog walkers."

Seriously relaxing...the hot tub was fantastic although not all the jets are working so we had to "rotate" for the best spot, but lovely and hot! Very clean and tidy on arrival. The resident ducks were so cute and we even had a visit from a whole swan family. Only very minor grumbles from us. One single bed needs some maintenance, it feels very rickety, and maybe a new mattress on the double as the springs are very prominent. New shelf needed in the fridge as everything falls into the veg drawer, a small leak from the heated towel rail and the decking is quite slippery and could do with a sweep. The only refuse bins we could find were on the other side of the site which meant rubbish bags in the car but not sure if we maybe missed closer ones? These are really tiny issues...would we return? Absolutely!! What a beautiful property you have. Thank you.

  • "The lodge its self was lovely."

Nice location next to the lake, very clean, nice warm welcoming from the lodge owner. The only thing letting it down a bit was the on site pub. Service wasn’t the greatest and the atmosphere wasn’t the best. Overall lovely weekend away.

Hi Lucy and Bradley thank for your lovely review it was a pleasure to meet you both, the on-site pub is operated by Wyldecrest the holiday park owners, I will happily pass on your comments.I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Property Owner

  • "The idyllic surrounds made up for a few shortcomings."

The fridge has most shelves missing and the shower became hot/cold after two uses. I don’t mind mice but I think living with it put a dampener on our four day stay. The cottage itself was in a perfect location with swan ducks geese birds and plenty to sight see.

Thank you for your feedback, Marylyn. I meet and greet all clients whenever possible to help them settle in and ensure everything is to the clients' satisfaction. When meeting clients, we always tell clients to call us if there are any problems. I, along with my son, met you and her husband while you were on the outside deck upon our arrival. We went through everything diligently with you and you were happy with the log cabin. Like we always do, we told you to call us if there were any problems. We employ an independent cleaning company recommended by Sykes on changeovers to clean to an excellent standard and to inform us of anything that needs replacing or upgrading, including the fridge. Nothing substandard was reported to us in this instance by the cleaning company or yourselves. With regard to the shower, hot water is limited because it comes from a shared borehole to ensure everyone on site can bathe. Again, we were not informed of this matter. As you can appreciate the log cabin being lakeside in the countryside, you will find a plethora of wildlife roaming around in their natural habitat, including swans, ducks, field mice, rabbits, geese, magpies, etc. You rightly informed us via text message of the field mouse you saw and I replied to put you at ease. Your verbatim response was, "Thats fine they are only field mice not a bother to me it was just incase they caused damage . ." I hope this reply allays your concerns regarding the log cabin and hope you book with us again soon. Property Owner

  • "No water in hot tub we filled it I did say I would however no chemicals for it and it wasn’t working someone came Saturday before lunch put chemicals in and said jets were not working correctly also filter kept coming off he told us to just keep it off and he said owner had said to empty and not fill hot tub hence why it was empty on the Friday We could not use hot tub until late Saturday afternoon which is not right as I had paid for hot tub."

Utensils were dirty chopping knife full of old food cereal bowls dirty 2 of them Microwave food at top Benches had crumbs on and beside toaster and microwave was grinded old spillages Shower head broken Iron no plug on it So it’s safe to say it wasn’t the best and I’m disappointed in the experience yes I got an apology off the owner it was sorry for the inconvenience it’s caused The lodge beautifully situated overlooking the lake We have booked again a different lodge with a different owner but gone through the owner themselves who let us look around the lodge on Sunday what a huge difference and so clean overlooking the lake I feel let down as it’s alot of money I paid to have so much wrong

The Logcabin was cleaned on change over by an independent cleaning company and they insist the logcabin was immaculate on completion. I meet and greet all new guests, and indeed met these guests on arrival at 3pm,we had a tour of the logcabin, including kitchen,bathroom,bedrooms.. They seemed very happy with what they had seen, and offered no complaint at this time. The hot tub maintenance is outsourced to a specialist hot tub company who attend the hot tub on daily basis. There was a misunderstanding in the scheduling, which resulted in the hot tub not been filled up,I managed to contact the company around 5pm,who said they had left site, but could return until the following morning, which indeed they were and the hot tub was up and running by mid morning.I tried to contact the guests to inform them of this arrangement but,was unsuccessful,I left a message for them to contact me. The guests finally contacted me at 9-30pm that evening and I gave them the news the hot tub would be up and running by mid-morning the next day, which I thought was quite reasonable given that the hot tub company was not based on site. The guests were very abusive, but they still had not complained that anything else was not to their satisfaction. I am available 24/7 to assist and make sure that guests enjoy their stay,I always leave my contact details when I meet and greet. I was only made aware that the guests had issues,( besides the hot tubs ) when I was asked by Sykes Cottages to respond to their complaints. I understand guests book and pay hard earned cash for their special break, and I would like to think that I can play my part in making it special. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic cabin."

Clean, comfortable and Homeley. The owner couldn't do enough for us. Small issue with needing a new TV for my autistic son to stop him going into a sensory meltdown. The owner had a brand new TV there and set up for us within a couple of hours. The facilities were great. The hot tub was amazing! The decking area nice and clean and plenty of space for the children to run around, and also a gate to ensure their safety. We are rebooking for the summer we are very impressed
