  • "Lovely place to stay and enjoy the surrounding area."

Very peaceful with everything we needed for our stay.

  • "We were very pleasantly surprised by the apartment - the pictures do not do it justice!"

It was a great size for our family of four, light and airy and very comfortable. Location is excellent - less than 15 minutes' walk to the beach, and close to shops and other amenities. We'll certainly recommend this place to friends and hope to return ourselves in future too. Thank you!

  • "The Apartment is cosy and comfortable and made a great base for exploring the Northumbrian Coast."

We thought the tiled floors, especially in the hallway were a great idea. It made it easier when coming back from the beach or a muddy walk that we didn’t have to worry about damaging carpet or floor coverings. We had some lovely walks from Bamburgh leaving the car behind. It was great to have a designated car parking space so we didn’t have to worry about finding a space on the road. We really enjoyed our stay at The Apartment.

  • "I have no issue with Northumbria Cottages, my issues are with the owners of the property."

The tv in the lounge was not working properly & the tv in the master bedroom was not working at all. I rang the owners & they came up the following day. Maureen tried to fix the tv in the bedroom, then stating the tv had been dropped, I got the feeling she was insinuating that I had dropped the tv, I had NOT! I had my elderly dog with me, I had one sofa covered with 3 clean throws in case she jumped up on the sofa when I wasn’t there, even though all the furniture was too high for her to jump on. I was told by Maureen that I should not be leaving the dog in the apartment alone. I told her it’s impossible for me to take her everywhere with me. She told me in no uncertain circumstances that I should be locking my dog in the kitchen. I never lock my dog in any room. She was cruelly thrown from a vehicle Christmas Eve 12 years ago, malnourished, riddled with mange, completely bald on her underside & pronounced teats. It took me 12 months to correct her skin & 18 months for her to happily get into a car. I work 2 jobs, full time & part time, our holidays together are precious to me & enrich my life. My stay was ruined by her attitude towards me. Will I paying them again with my hard earned cash, NEVER.

Thank you for your feedback, which is always welcome as this prepares us for our next guests and gives us the opportunity to respond. We would like to address the comment in relation to leaving your dog in the property, whilst we understand the concerns you had about your dog being old and frightened due the past misuse it had suffered and unable to take with you everywhere, the policy of leaving your pet unattended in our property is that of Northumbria Coast & Country Cottages and not the homeowner. In the years of letting with them this has been included in the T&C’s you accept at the time of booking as per text:- 9.5 Pet rules: You must not allow pets on beds or on furniture within the Property. Pets must not be left alone in the Property (which include the garden and any outside areas) at any time. Northumberland is one of the most dog friendly counties in the country, one of the reasons we have so many repeat guests with dogs. Your feedback about the TV has concerned us, as at no point did I accuse or insinuate this had been broken by you and can only apologise that you picked our conversation up like this, it was never intended. • "Very nice ground floor apartment."

Comfortable beds and couches. Felt homely. Netflix on tv. Very well supplied kitchen. Teabags and pods for coffee machine supplied. I couldn't get coffee machine to produce hot coffee so boiled kettle to top it up in the cup. Good cooker and grill. Outside yard very nice. There was no bbq as stated on the details. Would have liked it to say no towels and toilet paper on details.

  • "A perfectly situated accommodation, ideal for exploring both Bamburgh and the surrounding area."

The property was quiet, comfortable, well equipped and scrupulously maintained. It had its own dedicated parking - a must in this popular visit

  • "Accommodation generally comfortable and well appointed, but with 2 exceptions."

    (1) the walk in shower should certainly have safety rails for less able visitors (2) the enclosed outside area at the back was squalid, with bird dirt and other mess on the furniture. Also, the steps leading to the various properties are unsafe and in need of repair. That said, we would visit again.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
