  • "This lodge is a credit to its owners."

Super comfortable sited in a unique location. Everything you need for a relaxing stay is provided including an excellent welcome pack. Great location for exploring the wonderful Northumberland coastline and all its historic buildings. Would book again without hesitation.

  • "Fantastic property, comfortable and well maintained."

Only issue is that we would have preferred thicker curtains on the main window because the current ones are just net curtains and you can be seen in the dark when lights are on. (I went outside and looked in) Not good when going for a shower!

  • "Too many excellent things to list."

Only slight disadvantage was that the sun went behind quarry at 5.15pm so couldn’t sit out into the evening. Mustn’t let this overshadow the positives though. Communication with owner also excellent.

  • "An absolutely magical lodge in an absolutely magical location."

Every single thing we needed was provided. The welcome basket was a very much appreciated, and symbolic of how the whole presentation of Summerset Lodge goes the extra mile. We felt very honoured to stay in such a beautifully furnished property. The lodge has the most peaceful and positive vibe. Every aspect shows care and consideration. Thanks so, so much to the owners and managers. There were so many wonderful experiences and activities within easy reach of Brada Quarry. We're already working out dates to book again for next year - to visit all the places we missed this time, but also to just relax and enjoy the lodge and the sights and sounds and sunsets of Brada Quarry.

A lovely welcome pack full of delicious goodies and lots of little surprises from fresh coffee, flavoured teas and hand soaps. Every need taken care of for our comfort, warm blankets for sitting out, a selection of games and plenty of modern electronics. Can't fault anything, the standard of our accommodation was as we hoped for but much more than expected

  • "The lodge was amazing inside well furnished with everything needed."

Things we didn’t like were ... thin curtains on the large glass windows gave a feeling of being overlooked at night when lights were on so much we crept about in the dark so folks couldn’t see in. The views from lodge were dreadful and uninteresting and the grounds plain It was extremely hot inside on a sunny day making it hard to sleep.

  • "Absolutely blown away with how lovely the lodge was."

Exactly as it is in the pictures. The lodge had everything you could need for a break away. Well equipped kitchen and we were really happy to find there was a dishwasher which isn't mentioned in the listing. Even had board games for all the family and some toys for the kids. Great social spaces indoors and out. Close to lots of places to explore. Well worth a visit if looking to stay around this area.

  • "PRAISE What a beautifully situated and wonderful property."

The itinerary of appliances and the fixtures and fittings were second to none. I don't recall Sykes mentioning a dishwasher, but there was one. The place was spotless and just kept surprising us with the thought put into the everyday requirements. The patio equipment was brilliant. FOOD FOR THOUGHT! We wonder if the designers were exercising a sense of humour. 1. For instance one bedroom had a big TV, one bedroom had a wardrobe and one bedroom had an ensuite. Perhaps the owner would consider adding more suitable clothes hanging space in the ensuite and Twin Bedroom. also; the wardrobe bedroom was vey dark. 2. WHAT A LAUGH! The "cups/mugs are gigantic and the milk jug tiny. 3. FINAL COMMENTS We broke two wine glasses and messaged Carly to confess. She was most kind about it. The owner can be rightly proud of the property and services and Sykes can be well assured of the high standard provided. We will be confident in future bookings. Regards Stephen Pearson.

The property is stunningly presented and superbly maintained. The attention to detail is simply amazing. Everything you could ever need was provided and the welcome basket was such a thoughtful surprise. We brought our baby's high chair and travel cot with us and were blown away to see these had also been provided. We didnt recall seeing these mentioned on the property description so it maybe worth adding that they are provided. They were so clean that we had no hesitation in using them and thank you for providing these. We hope to return to Summerset Lodge one day.

Nice quiet setting in a group of lodges. Lodge was well appointed inside and out. Only very mild criticism is that it is overdressed in that there are so many ornaments. Whilst it looks lovely, there is not always enough space for our holiday needs. Really good booking site and lots of helpful information.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
