  • "The property overall was great but we found the beds very uncomfortable (far too firm)."

Also there were no handrails in the walk in shower which made life very difficult for my husband who needs them. Just for your information - the extractor fan in the en suite bathroom wasn’t working! Overall a lovely property in a perfect location.

  • "Five star views and location but flat is tired (bedroom lights not working, mattresses are well worn and uncomfortable, carpets are tired, shower ensuite needs black mold/moisture issue sorting)."

This is our second time staying - last time 2 and a half years ago. Feels like no time spent on upkeep since and found out when we were there that the flat is for sale. Cleaning team clearly work hard to keep it looking as smart as possible and it is clean. Worth noting that the brochure details in the flat are out of date and there is little mobile data service (inside and outside). We had a power cut just after we arrived. No idea if it was just us or elsewhere and no internet to check. Called twice to emergency numbers (they were wrong and had to redial) but got no response. Walked out to find others to ask and realised it was everywhere and all pubs were shut so nowhere to get food. Couldn't drive out further afield as it's electric gates to exit. Managed to get the number for northern power grid to find out more details and waited in the dark for 4 hours. No torches or candles in the flat despite it saying there was in the brochure - mains powered nightlights faded quickly. Bought a torch the next day which was also useful as the outside security lights for the front door and garages go off at around 7.30pm so you'll need a torch to be able to see to unlock the front door if you're not home by then. Worth also noting that your enjoyment will depend on your upstairs neighbours. Last time - small considerate family and barely any noise. This time 6 older adults who were noisy - no carpets there means you hear every footstep and scraped chairs - and bathroom fans going on at all times of the night. All the family struggled to get to sleep and stay asleep. This other party also took up all 3 visitor spaces as well as the one for the flat. Any service and maintenance people ended up blocking our car in as there was nowhere for them to park. Just inconsiderate and didn't care. Such a shame because it's a great location and the view from the lounge is breathtaking.

  • "Excellent location with stunning view of castle."

Generally well-equipped with sufficient crockery & cutlery for four person stay with odd gaps - no bread knife or bread board. Only five table knives against many spoons & forks. Two tea towels & a pair of oven gloves but no kitchen towel. Handle to utility cupboard is loose (we kept it ajar in case came off completely). Hardest thing was fathoming getting keys & getting into property, especially with such very strong springs on all doors-could maybe warn people of that. (Took me ages to get through pedestrian gate. The key pad says enter flat number. If you indicated that the first zero of the key code we were given is to switch the screen to accept the rest of the entry code which is displayed but must then press hard to find ‘enter’ button & immediately push the edge of the gate with force otherwise you are too late & have to start again!! Could also say location of relevant parking space ( very hard to see numbers at back of garage area). Getting out also a little tricky on last day as one person has to open outer gate for driver to pull forward then sprint to box to lock up key & fob then back to car. (Otherwise driver goes through gate and sit & wait whilst you use pedestrian gate - not a major problem but maybe hard if not steady on feet!!). However all that is worth it for a beautiful place to stay & would certainly recommend (in fact our daughter recommended it to us but clearly either had no problem doors/keys or had forgotten!!)

After ringing and said this would be done it was very disappointing to find that this had not be done. I did think after it would be done as it said to ring and ask if you wanted this. This was poor service.

  • "A fabulous, warm and comfortable home-from- home apartment in a fantastic location close to the village amenities and the beach, with amazing views to the castle."

The apartment was well equipped, especially the kitchen which was good for foodies. The 2 bathrooms were a real bonus for a family with teenagers and the layout was effective. I liked having the utility cupboard and washing machine and the back gate to the cricket pitch was very well used. The TV is easy to use if you are used to a smart TV and the microwave needs a bit of careful assessment (High/medium, time dial, start). As a very small comment, the bed in the double could have been slightly more comfortable but the linen was lovely as were the towels. The area is beautiful with lots of things to do. We got great fish n chips at Lewis's in Seahouses and amazing pizzas from Northumberland Artisan Pizza Co at Warren Mill. We would recommend Billy Shields boat trip to the Farne Islands and a visit to Lindisfarne. A really special place. We will be back!

Not provided….no WiFi or phone line so went to nearby office next morning. Bedding & lack of welcome pack resolved. Not very clean….bag of medicines etc found in drawer in bedroom 1. Our 4th visit to this property and still no hot water in basin in shower room. Windows dirty, lawn uncut, plastic flapping on outside since storm of 2021. Window catch broken in shower room. Tv complicated to operate. Microwave so complicated that the instructions take up a whole page in info book! This is not what people want. This place is not good value for money & we won’t be back!

  • "Just back from a fabulous 5-night stay at Northrawe."

Clean and comfortable accommodation with incredible views of stunning Bamburgh castle from the apartment living room. Close to the beautiful beach and only about 30 yds from the Main Street with its shops and places to eat/collect supplies. Comfortable beds and sofas; plentiful equipment to self cater and useful welcome packs with dishwasher tabs/ kitchen cloths etc and another with tea/coffee/ biscuits/UHT milk for a cuppa on arrival. There were also some basic condiments in the kitchen and supplies of washing up liquid. Also liquid soap was provided in both bathrooms. Electric storage heaters and heated towel rails throughout provided great heating in the cold February temperatures; apartment lovely and warm on arrival. There was a selection of books/magazines and some children’s DVD’s. Gated security to the apartments and covered car parking with clear instructions provided on how to access on arrival. The best accomodation we’ve stayed in at Bamburgh and would recommend without hesitation. Thank you for letting us experience that fabulous view from the living room! Will definitely be back to lovely Northrawe

We love to cook but although kitchen looked good several items to prep and cook food not available , suitable chopping board cheese grater etc.eg. Double the amount of plates, bowls etc would be useful. Bamburgh a beautiful place to stay. Thank you

Dirty fingermarks round light switches and dust on various services. Light bulbs not functioning in shower over cooker hob and patio. Little storage in bedrooms. Second bedroom small.

Thank you for your feedback – we are really surprised about your comments on the cleanliness as our cleaner normally gets top marks. We have addressed those points though. Bulbs can go out obviously on the cookers and patios and if you call the local office they can get those changed whilst you are on your holiday. We haven’t had any comments on the storage but will have a look at what we can do to improve that. Property Owner

The view of the Castle and cricket pitch out of the sitting room window has to be one of the best in Bamburgh. The property was lovely and warm and consisted of two bedrooms with ensuite facilities a well equipped kitchen and small sitting room. Only a couple of comments, possible shoe rack/hooks to hang up outdoor coats, shame the property did not have a log burner.

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately a log burner is not practical for this property but we are looking into a real flame fire. We will look at potential space for shoe racks and a coat rack. We hope you return soon. Property Owner

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
