  • "Location wonderful."

Directions could be better(need updating). One or two issues with maintenance, light bulbs need changing etc(owners feedback form filled in to list and highlight these). Main complaint as with previous people is the seating in the living area which is low and gives no support(we all have back ache now).

  • "The property was in a great location and an amazing view."

The comfort level and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The fabric sofas were dated, extremely low with no support at all. The beds were lumpy and hard. On arrival directly outside the lounge patio door there was lots of bird droppings and tissue paper, we hosed this down ourselves. The patio windows were filthy. There was a birds nest directly outside lounge door which made the hot tub unusable (I must add the maintenance people did not seem aware of the nest or droppings and did offer to move etc but due to the birds flying over so low and droppings we felt this wouldn’t work) . Dogs hairs on carpet in bedroom, plus a sock under the sofa. It generally felt like the house needed a good clean.

  • "Beautiful setting, house and paddock area excellent."

Only complaint would be the mattresses and sofas. Both were uncomfortable and in need of renewing.

  • "Location is fantastic!"

A few maintenance issues including heating not working fully ( partly dealt with during stay) Fridge freezer needs attention, shelves broken or missing in fridge. Should be noted that dishwasher is half sized. Equipment and seating a bit limited for full occupancy Mattresses all a bit tired so beds not comfortable Leaving grass cuttings on grass means lots walked into house as doormats tiny / missing.

  • "Fabulous location."

Well equipped cottage. The directions indicated to go through the gate but you need to turn off before the gate, so this could be improved in the information provided. As per some other reviews, the drive up to the cottage is very rutted and potholed and some of these desperately need filling. Biggest issue for us was the sofas, they are so low, we all found them difficult to get out of and we were not an elderly group! Also, a couple of the double beds are getting a bit ‘lumpy’ so could do with a refresh. However, we had a lovely stay and were very fortunate with the weather

  • "We had a wonderful time in Goosander, and the hot tub was very relaxing - it was lovely to lay back in the hot water, looking at the many stars in the night sky."

The dog treats were really appreciated by Ruby! Really, the only problem was with the sofas. They were very low and difficult to get out of, especially for those of us who are no longer young. They weren't really big enough for eight adults, so it would have been really good to have a separate armchair as well. Also, it would be an idea to point out that the pub, less than a mile away, as seen on the website, is actually seasonal and not open in the winter. We were sad about that. However we all had a great time, celebrating my birthday, so thank you.

  • "A most enjoyable stay at Goosander."

Friends had a guide dog puppy in training and the enclosed area at the front was a haven for her. One electrical problem we had during our stay was quickly sorted in a friendly and efficient way. Particularly bad weather on our arrival day at 4.00.p.m. (1st Dec) in the dark. The paths and steps should have been heavily salted for our arrival as they were lethal and the same the following morning, which was when we became aware of a salt bin near the bin compound. The access road to the property extremely poor and full of large deep potholes, if nothing else please fill in the potholes. We were all delighted with the property and would hope to return in the future.

  • "The property was clean but I felt a thorough deep clean was required."

We had 3 elderly people with us and the sofas could use replacing. They were difficult to get out of, too low. Location fabulous and en suite rooms amazing. Lovely welcome basket which was much appreciated. Fantastic for the dog, she loved the fields and beach. Just a shame storm Babet wasted our fun.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
