  • "Reivers Retreat is a lovely property."

Its set in a very quiet residential area. We loved watching the birds visit the garden which our dog loved. Inside tge bungalow is very comfortable with everything that you could need. It's in a great location for visiting the attractions of Northumberland with beautiful coastal towns like Amble, Alnmouth and Newbiggin within 30 minutes. There is a small shop in the village for essentials (and nice pastries!) A mobile fish and chip van visits on a Friday and it was delicious, it parks opposite the village shop. I understand there is also a pizza van on Friday which we didn't try and we also saw a street food van parked up on Thursday. This was our second visit to 10 Reivers Gate and we woukd definitely return.

A welcome basket in the kitchen is a wonderful treat after a long journey; fresh bread, milk, scones with clotted cream and jam! I've stayed here several times now and it's my No 1 holiday home! Patio doors open onto a fully enclosed, dog safe garden (which is a sun trap). Private parking space right at the garden gate. What more could you ask for!

The communication from Lynn was great, right from the initial booking right through to us checking out, we were also offered a slightly earlier check in too which was a great bonus. When we arrived we noticed some nice little touches like wrapped Christmas treats for us and the doggies. The property was perfect for us, there’s a secure garden for the dogs, everything we needed from the kitchen, an open plan living and dining area, master bedroom was a good size with loads of storage space, our 4 year old loved his bedroom, and the bathroom was of great standard too. A few things that impressed us was having a tv in both bedrooms, great WiFi (those two are very important when you have children), everything was clean, there were some board games and DVD’s for a bit of entertainment and little touches like these just added to the positive experience. My only confusion with this property is why it’s listed on Sykes as 3 ticks! Overall I would highly recommend this property for couples, families and dog owners. Thanks again Lynn for a wonderful stay at your property.

A welcome pack of bread, scones, clotted cream, jam, margarine, fruit and wine was a lovely touch too. The local shop was just around the corner and just up the lane from there was a walk that we did every morning with the dog, before heading out and about for the day. It was ideally situated for the surrounding area and we travelled to lots of different places like Druridge Bay, Dunstanburgh Castle, Hadrian's wall, Carlisle Park in Morpeth, Rothbury, Warkworth Castle and Whitley Bay all lovely places and dog friendly too. Lynne messaged a couple of times with updates and to apologise when the bungalow wasn't quite ready for our arrival time as she'd had to give some bits a touch up of paint, but this wasn't an issue for us but it was nice to be kept informed. I would definitely recommend this property and its only because I like to travel to different areas otherwise I'd definitely stay here again.

The village shop is a must for freshly made sandwiches and cakes etc and the couple who run it are lovely! • "Loved this bungalow."

It was cosy and the bed and settees were comfy. In spite of it's size it was really well-equipped and everything well thought out. The welcome hamper was delicious . The house was spotless and clean. A true credit to the owners. The kitchen is quite small but well-designed. However, I never really mastered the new electric hob efficiently with numerous buttons to press to turn on and set temperatures. Just a few minutes walk away, however, is a lovely shop selling homemade food and cakes. On Thursdays a pizza van appeared and Friday a Fish and Chip van so we had plenty of options for food. A pub is also close by that serves food. For the dogs we were pleasantly surprised to have been left treats. Bowls, throws and poo bags were also provided which makes you feel like your dogs are truly welcomed. The garden was paved and had seating a swing and was very nice. It was fully enclosed but we weren't sure if the little terrier could squeeze through the gate bars so we used the box for glass recycling outside the kitchen door to block it as a precaution. For dog walks you are a few minutes from a green and a walk through allotments. About 5 minutes away is Longhorsley common and there are networks of paths extending onwards. Further afield (20 mins) is Rothbury a lovely small market town with lots of walks and about 30 mins + are the beaches at Alnmouth, Amble, Seahouses etc. We have passed through Longhorsley many times driving up to Scotland, blink and you will miss it but having stayed at Reivers Retreat it is certainly a place I would recommend.
