  • "We had a lovely holiday at The Old Byre."

It was comfortable, clean and well equipped. It has lovely views from the patio doors. The welcome pack was a nice treat. The only downside for us was that there wasn't an enclosed garden, only an enclosed area away from the house. We would have liked to be able to open the patio doors and still have our dog safe. Unfortunately we won't be returning to the Old Byre because of this.

Hi We're so pleased you had such a great great stay at the Byre. There is a enclosure at the the end of the garden that's already mentioned In Sykes. But we're so sorry that this wasn't enough, we are going to put a gate up sometime in the future but unfortunately due to converting the Byre and building regulations we have all the pipes eg waste septic etc going out at the bottom of the run way, I'm sure you will understand that they need time to settle. So we're unable to enclose it all off at the moment. But we hope you enjoyed the wide variety of walks you could take your dog on. Take care Jim & Sharon Property Owner

Great specification of kitchen and bedrooms. Surprising easy to keep warm with both underfloor heating and clean wood burning fire. Only negative for us was the access from the main road A68 to the access road to the farm. Wonderful view from the patio which is situated with access from main living area.

Hi Robert Thank for your great comments I'm so sorry but there's nothing we can do about the A68 We only wish we could. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at the Auld Byre."

The four of us thoroughly enjoyed the comfort of the Byre and its surroundings. The views from the sofa are tremendous and we were lucky with the weather. The only negative from our stay was the sheet on one of the beds , although I could tell it had been washed there were a couple of stains that hadn’t come out in the wash, for the of £897 for the week I would expect a perfectly clean sheet.

Hi We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay in the Auld Byre and can't apologize enough for marks on the bedding. Yes there always clean on I can only assume the iron press has stained them them and we didn't notice. Please accept our deepest apologies and the sheet is now in the bin Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Byre."

The cottage is comfortable, very well provided for and sits in a lovely, quiet, rural location. There is a short walk from the cottage along a country lane into Jedburgh. The town itself is full of interest and we were particularly impressed by a sense of civic pride. There is no shortage of great places to visit throughout the Borders and in this regard, the Information Centre was particularly helpful. All in all, the Old Byre provided us with a great base to explore a beautiful part of Scotland. We highly recommend.

It is very well designed and has all the home comforts you need. It also is very quiet. We visited all local places Jedburgh was very busy and lots to do.So the byre is best place to stay if you want quiet holiday but every thing on your doorstep Thanks for a great stay. .

Hi Thomas It's great that you enjoyed your stay in the Byre.... and the wild life that comes with it! Our lambs are way too nosy and love to see what's going on - on the other side of the fence :) We had for a while a Deer that liked to look through the French doors at the guests she was so laid back and everyone loved her. The swallows on the other hand are so busy and forget that the inside the Byre is off limits...So yes we love the peace and quietness of the Byre to.. but also love that its so busy with wild life. The only drawback was that although the wet room was adapted for a disabled person there were no grab rails and no stool to sit on when showering. • "Beautiful barn conversion."

Furniture and fittings first class. Friendly owners who provided a lovely welcome pack. Accessible features which includes two fantastic wet rooms were excellent for my partially disabled wife.

  • "A beautifully decorated and well equipped holiday let (the photos didn’t do it justice) in beautiful, peaceful surroundings ."

The owners were very welcoming and always on hand for issues and information. It’s the perfect base for exploring the Scottish Borders - there are lots of lovely, local walks (a walk into Jedburgh doesn’t take long at all) as well as Edinburgh and Kielder (where we took our teenagers paddle boarding!)

  • "The Old Byre is a beautifully converted barn which the owners have done proud in it's development ."

Based on the outskirts of the border town of Jedburgh in the middle of very peaceful farm land with lots of wildlife, yet only 20mins walk into the town centre it is a ideal for the perfect quiet break. It is also a dog owners delight with lots of walks in the area. The cottage a spacious with plenty of light, furnished to an excellent standard throughout. We are both looking forward to coming back in 2021, on a final note the hosts Jim and Sharon left a most generous welcome pack and even some treats for our dog Jack, a great example of how to welcome old and new guests to a property and presents the "Goodwill" factor. 10/10 for the hosts and the property

It was immaculate and had everything we could possibly need to enjoy our holiday including a wonderful welcome hamper with wine which was much appreciated after a long drive. Such a peaceful and relaxing place to stay, and lovely to be able to walk into Jedburgh which is not far away at all. We would love to stay here again and will recommend to all our friends and family. Thank you Sharon and Jim, perfect hosts.

  • "Our holiday at the Old Byre in Jedburgh was superb."

I have given the highest ratings on all questions asked, not because it's easy & quick but because this is how much we enjoyed our time in the Old Byre. My wife, myself and our 20 month daughter had a ball. We were looking forward to it when we saw the photos. And this is what made us know we had booked the right place when we arrived - what you see on the photos is EXACTLY what you get on arrival. Many other places could learn from this fact. We were made to feel welcome from the get go - cheeky we arrival present on the table. On that - the hostess/manager couple are superb. Nothing is a hassle - even stupid requests from years truly on how to operate the wood burning stove (which is a beast in the very best sense of the word). Kirsty and Sandy just added to our enjoyment at the Byre all the more. I'm from the Borders (Peebles) so know the area well. Or so I thought. If you are into cycling there are simply magic wee routes around here - two of Simon Warren's top 100 cycling climbs of Scotland are just a few K's from your door, 1km in the case of one of them. I could go on - Jed has so much history dripping from it, all easily accessible even with a toddler in tow. Plenty of other lovely wee towns close by too for days out. Quick wee mention for the B6357 too. Petrol-heads or cyclists - do yourselves a favour - if you've not driven it or peddled it do it, it rocks almost as much as the Old Byre does. We will return to The Old Byre and cannae wait.
